Save 20% On JetBlue Award Tickets!

JetBlue is offering a 20% discount when you redeem points for select travel.

  • “Book an award flight by May 16, 2023. Valid on new JetBlue bookings only & cannot be applied to existing bookings.
  • Fly May 15, 2023 – June 21, 2023.
  • Excludes travel in Mint® and transatlantic flights.
  • When you search for an eligible award flight, the base fare you see will automatically include the 20% discount.”

While JetBlue notes that this isn’t valid for existing bookings, you can always just refund your existing award booking for free, though while other airlines refund your taxes, JetBlue refunds the taxes back to your TravelBank. You will have to call JetBlue to use those TravelBank funds to pay for the taxes on an award ticket.

Sample values:

  • A flight from LaGuardia to Fort Lauderdale on 6/5 is $68.90 in basic or $130.40 in regular economy. An regular economy award ticket is 6,400 points+$5.60, or a value of 0.99 cents per point compared to basic or 1.95 cents per point compared to regular economy. JetBlue doesn’t sell basic awards.
    • The same award on 7/4 after the sale window ends is 8,100 points, or a value of 0.78 cents per point compared to basic or 1.54 cents per point compared to regular economy.
  • A flight from Newark to Los Angeles on 6/5 is $118.90 in basic or $180.40 in regular economy. An regular economy award ticket is 9,200 points+$5.60, or a value of 1.23 cents per point compared to basic or 1.9 cents per point compared to regular economy. JetBlue doesn’t sell basic awards.
    • The same award on 7/11 after the sale window ends is 11,600 points, or a value of 0.98 cents per point compared to basic or 1.5 cents per point compared to regular economy.

If you travel dates fall within the dates of this promotion and you normally book regular economy tickets, those are some pretty good values for your Chase or Citi points!

  • You can transfer Chase Or Citi points to JetBlue at a 1:1 ratio, AMEX to JetBlue at a 1:0.8 ratio, or Marriott points at a 60K:25K ratio.

how do you know the value of the points when you say
An regular economy award ticket is 6,400 points+$5.60, or a value of 0.99 cents per point

what formula do you use to figure out the points and how much are they valued at if its a good buy or not

I booked some economy Award flights yesterday and I checked prices today, they are the same price. Usually during a promo like this there’s a code or the regular price is crossed out so you can say the savings, but not in this case. It seems like a ploy to get you to buy.
