Office Depot/Office Max: No Purchase Fees For $100 Mastercard Gift Cards

17

Office Depot/Office Max stores are not charging any purchase fees on $100 Mastercard gift cards from today until Tuesday, 11/8.

DDF member eliraps sent me this image of the promo.

Although it says there’s a limit of 1, he was able to buy 5 of the $100 Mastercard gift cards for $500 total without any issue.

Use your Chase Ink Plus or Chase Ink Cash card and get 5 points per dollar spent. You can view credit card offers by clicking on the “Credit Card Offers” tab on top of the DansDeals banner to view links for card offers. Note that the Ink Plus card is slated to be discontinued in the very near future.

These Mastercards should have the PIN number in the package. They’re a bit trickier to use at WalMart, you need to hit cancel on the keypad after swiping it in order to change it to a debit payment before using it to load Bluebird, buying money orders, or using bill pay.

You can also buy money orders at various grocery stores, gas stations or some post offices.

Or you can donate the gift card to charity and get a receipt for the full face value.

Or you can give away a gift card as a wedding or Bar Mitzvah gift.

Or you can always use it for everyday spending.

Can you give examples of grocery stores where you can buy money orders for gift cards?

Bob S.

Don’t the MasterCard gift cards have monthly fees after the first year or something?

Beware. These are often hacked. Liquidate quickly before someone else does.

Ryan

So if i have 5 $100 gift card, how do i buy $500 worth money order? I would have to swipe 5 times? That wouls definitely trigger suspicious activities.

mastercard gc fraud

ive been buying very large amounts of gift cards – especially mc. and have found tremendous amount of fraud with them! caveat emptor. please share if anyone has insight or similar experiences.

Bought 10 at one store, but another store said that there was a limit of 1 but when I said another store sold me 10 he agreed to do so. Didn’t get charged a penny over the $1000. Already turned them into money orders at my local grocery store and deposited the money in my account. Got a Marriott card to earn the 80,000 points so this really helps me get to the $3000 minimum spend quickly. Thanks Dan for letting me know about this. We don’t have any Staples stores around so I could t do their deal.

@Joey:
A Marriott card? That’s painful to read.

I had a problem using Mastercard gift cards as debit cards to buy money orders (visa gc worked fine). Has anyone else had that issue?

Alex

Hey DanDeals, just an FYI, NYC post offices are no longer taking pre-paid visa cards to purchase money orders. I’ve checked and confirmed at 5 different locations. Their systems are rejecting the cards.

Sara

Where did you buy money orders for Visa cards. Walmart doesn’t do it
