Flying Blue Promo Awards (Click here to view worldwide promo awards)

Air France Flying Blue Award Search (Login required to search for award flights)

Flying Blue is the joint program of SkyTeam member Air France and KLM.
They consider Tel Aviv to be part of Europe which can make for some decent deals.

They do charge fuel surcharges on their own flights but not on Delta flights. However availability is much better on their own flights than on Delta flights. They normally charge 50,000 miles round-trip in coach to Israel.
For example a flight on Delta from JFK -Tel Aviv from 11/28-12/11 is 50K miles plus $78.47. The Flying Blue award calendar won’t show that flight so you should search for saver awards on Delta.com (which also has a subpar calendar) and then plugin those dates on the Flying Blue site.
Plus you can book one-way flights for half price with Flying Blue, something Delta doesn’t allow.

Promo awards:
Valid in either direction.
Book by 11/30/13
Travel 11/01/13-03/31/14.
Promo Awards can’t be modified, cancelled or refunded.

Sample dates with fuel surcharges for various routes:
-Atlanta to Tel Aviv, 01/12-01/21 for 37.5K miles plus $298.14 in coach.
-Boston to Tel Aviv, 01/12-01/21 for 37.5K miles plus $301.23 in coach.

brisker dude

WOW Awesome write up.

Dan, with amex rewards points, what would you consider this ticket to cost (based on points and cash)?

CHAIM

If i got 75k delta skymiles would that work?

Shotguns

How much would it be from Mia to tlv round trip?

Mendel

What’s “premium economy”? A few extra inches of legroom? And they charge for this DOUBLE the miles?

Lafleur

Pretty good deal if you’re flexible. Takes better part of a week for miles transfer to go through. I just booked JFK to TLV with BA (A.Berlin) going and AF returning – total 26.4K spg’s plus $429 fee.

yudig

What is cancellation policy re miles/fuel surcharges paid?

Yossi

Is it good for pesach?

ABC

Is Israel the only country in the middle east that’s considered part of Europe? Do they use the Eurovision song contest to define regions?

josh

Can one do business/first this way? what would a sample fare in miles /taxes be for that?

Aj

Is this a promo or is this here to stay?

MR

Chaim: No, you need to have FB points.

Mendel: Premium Eco on AF is pretty good actually. You can look at the pictures online on airfrance.com. Its between eco and business

Josh: yes business available but not so great for tlv.
JFK-TLV one way about 62.5k and about $20 taxes

AJ: promo

clcm

@Yossi: no…see dans post….travel has to be completed by 3/31 and pesach is in April this year.

jb

Cancellation Policy?

philoisrael

Does this work from JFK around Dec 25?

Question

Is there non-stop availability from either JFK or Washington DC?

Davidd

does that mean if we find delta flights we can get roundtrip ticket to israel for 25,000 points and no fuel surcharges

Tzvi

I found round trip from JFK to TLV with stopovers leaving 1/28 and returning 2/4 for 37,500 FB miles and $301. Is that a good deal and how much does it work out each miles is worth.

bud

what’s the reg price w/o the promo, ie using flying blue (and MR or SPG to) fly for pessach?

dealfinder

Does anyone know what 20,000 spg are worth in cash per point?

MEIR

Does anyone out there know the cancellation or change fees ?

Davidd

“The Flying Blue award calendar won’t show that flight so you should search for saver awards on Delta.com (which also has a subpar calendar) and then plugin those dates on the Flying Blue site.”

Dan can you please explain. I found Delta saver awards that are not on the Flying blue award calendar? also why would the delta saver awards appear magically on the flying blue award chart if I plug in specific dates, if initially they don’t appear on the Flying blue award calendar??

Dan fan

@Lafleur: can u give example dates looking for tickets from tlv to NYC Chanukah time

joey

how do you “plugin” dates from the delta website into the flying blue one?

Apple

called flying blue to look for delta availability. rep needed 15 min to search a 10 days paramenter, came back w nothing. said he cant search a whole month and tell me when it is available.

wasted time, no dates.
forget about flying blue.

NAG

How do you sign up for flying blue ?

Tzvi

@NAG: Click the link Air France Flying Blue Award Search on top of this post.

Dan

@brisker dude:
Thanks
Depends how you value your points.
At 1.5 cents a round-trip that costs 25K would be $375 worth of points plus $280 tax=$655.

@CHAIM:
No.

@Lafleur:
Yup, great for combining with a one-way BA/Air Berlin flight.

@josh:
I included some in the post.

@jb:
None.

@Davidd:
I found green saver dates on the Delta calendar and searched for those dates on FB.
The calendar didn’t show it but when I clicked on the date it was there.
I wrote the dates in the post.

@Apple:
Yup, if you get a dumb phone rep you should write off the whole program.
Mind you that 99% of phone reps are dumb 😛

I said in the post what to do.

chuk

Have you ever heard that amex business gold gets FRed more than others?

Dan

@chuk:
I have heard that.

Aa

Flying TO israel 11/26- 12/4 mean you are missing 1 day of menora (unless u can do it during a stopover)

Tzvi

Dan,

In your opinion, is the JFK-TLV (no stop-over) for 50,000 FB miles and $70 a good deal?
Better than 37,500 FB miles and $300, with one stop-over.

MR

tzvi: no doubt. flying direct and no fuel surcharges.
sometimes, u can also get direct one way dl flights business for 62.5k direct… it used to be 50k

Tzvi

@MR: Thanks MR

Scott

Dabn I know this is unrelated but I was told by chase that my ink world mc doesn’t cover cmw insurance in Israel ( even for Buisness rentals) . Does the Saphire mc still cover ? Y would they b different? How about united explorer ?
Thanks

Avi

Ok can someone help me i have the amex points and i have $300 how to i go forward making this ticket who do i call?

Tzvi

@Scott: You have to search the forum and if you don’t find the answer you are looking for then ask in the appropriate topic.

Tzvi

@Avi: To my knowledge you have to first transfer the points and then you can book who the award site.

Chicago

If u from Chicago how would I go coach or business class bit confused on if this 25 k if it is roundtrip or 1 way

Avi R

@Dan

First of all, thanks so much for posting this.
I found a ticket I want to book, but I first need to transfer the starwoods points. Starwoods is saying it will take up to 30 days to transfer to flying blue. By then I am sure my ticket will be gone. Any way around that? Thanks again.

Mendel

Tzvi, how did you find a direct flight? No direct flights are showing up when I search

Scott

@zvi where on the forum do they discuss it? Find the forums hard to navigate..

Tzvi

@Mendel: I did what Dan said and first checked on delta saver flight and then put those dates in on the air france link. My dates are 1/28-2/4
@Scott: It takes time to get used to it. You can start by using the search bar. Here is the link you can start from, it has info on each of the cards. http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?board=7.0

CHAIM

@CHUK Have you ever heard that amex business gold gets FRed more than others? what meanS FRED

ed parver

DAVID

@ed parver: no

chaya
