IHG’s 2017 category changes go into effect 1/15/17.

Hundreds of hotels are chaning categories and the vast majority are getting more expensive.

If you want to lock in lower rates but are short on points you can buy points from IHG here. Once you have 5,000 points in your account you can buy points via the method described here for $31 per 5K points.
