Get 30% Bonus Points When You Transfer AMEX Points Into Avios

You can get a 30% bonus for transfers from AMEX to BA, Aer Lingus, or Iberia Avios through 7/15 at 11:59pm MT.

With this bonus, 1,000 AMEX points transfer into 1,300 Avios.

In general, you shouldn’t transfer miles unless you have short-term plans to redeem them for flights.

It can be tricky to book Qatar awards, so read this post first to learn all about Qatar Avios.

You can also transfer BA Avios to Qatar, Finnair, Iberia, or Aer Lingus Avios. You can combine Avios via this link via the BA site here or on the Qatar site here.

Avios aren’t what they used to be. British Airways seems to devalue them every few months, bringing them from first to worst in no time.

You can save with the Qatar award chart or the Finnair award chart, which is the only Avios program that doesn’t charge per leg flown, though both Qatar and Finnair recently devalued their Avios.

You can search for award availability using BA Avios here. Finnair or Qatar should be able to book any award space that you find using BA Avios for fewer Avios, but you may need to call them or chat to book.

Here are some highlights:

  • A short-haul Airlink award within Africa can be booked for 6K Qatar Avios (~4.6K AMEX Points).
  • A short-haul Qantas award like Melbourne-Sydney can be booked for 6K BA Avios (~4.6K AMEX Points).
  • A short-haul JetBlue award like NYC-Fort Lauderdale can be booked for 8.5K Qatar Avios (~6.5K AMEX Points).
  • A short-haul AA award like NYC-Cleveland can be booked for 9.5K Qatar Avios (~7.3K AMEX Points).
  • A domestic Alaska coach award like NYC-LA can be booked for 11K Finnair Avios (~8.4K AMEX Points).
  • An Alaska coach award to Hawaii can be booked for 13.5K Finnair Avios (~10.3K AMEX Points).
  • An AA coach award to Hawaii can be booked for 15K Finnair Avios (~11.5K AMEX Points).
  • A domestic AA coach award like NYC-LA can be booked for 16K Qatar Avios (~12.3K AMEX Points).
  • A transatlantic JetBlue coach award like NYC-Amsterdam, London, or Paris can be booked for 25K Qatar Avios (~19.2K AMEX Points).

@dan any tips how to find availability for AirLink flight using Qatar avios? Do they have the same award space as US?

Mr L

Catch the QR-JB as long it’s still available

For the last month I haven’t had any success in booking JetBlue through Qatar. I always get a message not available. Does anyone know if this is still an option?
