Ends Today: Check To See If You’re Targeted For Up To A 50% Bonus When Purchasing Alaska Miles

Login to your Alaska account via the link above to see what bonus you can get when purchasing miles.

  • On my account the offer is:
    • Buy 10,000 – 19,000 miles, get a 20% bonus
    • Buy 20,000 – 39,000 miles, get a 35% bonus
    • Buy 40,000 – 60,000 miles, get a 50% bonus

If you have that same offer, the price for 90K miles will be $1,773.75, or 1.97 cents per mile.

There is no limit on how many Alaska miles you can buy, though there is a limit per transaction.

Alaska miles don’t expire as long as you have account activity every 24 months.

Alaska has very valuable award chart that varies by region and partner airline.

Best of all Alaska allows a free stopover, even on a one-way award. Just use the multi-city search option to build your own free stopover.

That means you can fly business class from Los Angeles to JFK, “stopover” in JFK for as long as you want, and then fly onto another destination for one low price. For example this flight stops over in JFK for several weeks before flying in business class from JFK to Paris for 57.5K miles. If you’re targeted for a 50% bonus that means a one-way business class ticket would cost $1,132.75:

Here are some sample uses on Cathay Pacific. Note that Alaska requires that you call them up to book award travel on Cathay Pacific.

-You can use 17.5K Alaska miles for coach, 20K for premium economy, 25K for business, or 35K for first class to fly one way to or from JFK and Vancouver on Cathay Pacific. If you’re targeted for a 50% bonus that means a one-way business class ticket would cost $492.50 and a one-way first class ticket would cost $689.50.

-You can use 30K Alaska miles for coach, 35K for premium economy, 50K for business, or 70K for first class to fly one way to or from North America and Asia via Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific. Best of all, you can get a free stopover in Hong Kong for as long as you want, even on a one-way ticket. There are no fuel surcharges. If you’re targeted for a 50% bonus that means a one-way business class ticket would cost $985 and a one-way first class ticket would cost $1,379.

-You can use 50K Alaska miles for coach, 55K for premium economy, 62.5K for business, or 70K for first class to fly one way to or from North America and Tel Aviv or Johannesburg via Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific. Best of all, you can get a free stopover in Hong Kong for as long as you want, even on a one-way ticket. There are no fuel surcharges. If you’re targeted for a 50% bonus that means a one-way business class ticket would cost $1,231 and a one-way first class ticket would cost $1,379.

-You can use 22.5K Alaska miles for coach, 25K for premium economy, or 30K for business class to fly one way to or from Hong Kong and Tel Aviv on Cathay Pacific. There are no fuel surcharges. If you’re targeted for a 50% bonus that means a one-way business class ticket would cost $591.

Cathay Pacific is famous for their wonderful first class where they offer the best bed comfort, seat comfort, and pajamas in the industry. It doesn’t offer walled-in suites or the hands-on service of Singapore and it doesn’t have onboard showers like Emirates or Etihad, but I don’t think any first class can compete with Cathay’s ultra-comfy seat and bed arrangement.

Before you speculatively buy miles with no need to book though, keep in mind that Alaska devalued their Emirates award chart with no advance notice.

Will you buy Alaska miles? What are your favorite uses of Alaska miles? How many bonus miles are you targeted for with this offer?
