We have written about using points for sporting events with kosher food at Madison Square Garden many times over the past eleven years.
It was a holdover from a long-term deal that Starwood had, and Marriott continued it after their Starwood acquisition.
Many DansDeals readers have made awesome Starwood and Marriott point redemptions since 2013 to watch NBA, NHL, and concerts, and a DDF team even got to play a basketball game on the court with former Knicks players.
Alas, those days are now over. Marriott confirms with DansDeals that,
“Marriott Bonvoy has recently concluded its partnership with Madison Square Garden. This also concludes our Moments experiences at the arena however there are many venues globally that we will continue to offer packages at (i.e. Crypto.com Arena etc.).”
This comes 5 years after Marriott ended its holdover relationship with MLB from Starwood. I noted in 2019 that the seat location in Madison Square Garden had been downgraded and that Marriott said they would be focused more on the NFL and Manchester United going forward.
For now, Wrigley Field auctions still live on.
Back in 2016 we even had a DansDeals team play Chicago-style softball at the friendly confines thanks to a Starwood redemption:

A few months later, I redeemed 1.06 million Starpoints to throw out the first pitch and get 4 prime seats with field access to game 7 of the World Series.
That turned out to be one of my best point redemptions as in 2021 they sold the experience for a whopping $500,000, making my redemption worth over 47 cents per point!
Did you redeem your points for Madison Square Garden experiences over the years?

Hoping that they don’t end the relationship for the Wrigley Field suites.
I’m told that has not ended yet, but probably just a matter of time until the original SPG contract ends.
The best for me was tournament at Wrigley that I did twice!
They didn’t do it this year so probably that’s over.
Yup, that was fun!
Arguably one of the best redemption options of its era both before and after the merger. They had no problem sourcing kosher meals too. What a shame.
These were my favorite… I’ve spent just north of 1m SPG/Marriott points on Moments over the past eight years. A dozen or so games at MSG, Rangers Casino Night twice, my son has gotten to take the field at Wrigley twice… These are all things that are normally well out of my price range. Thanks for the confirmation (as heartbreaking as it is).
This, a couple weeks after I DM’ed the Bonvoy account on Twitter and was told, “Marriott Bonvoy Moments does offer chances to bid on events at Madison Square Garden. At this time only concerts are listed. Rest assured, once the NHL season starts there may be opportunities to bid on special seats and activities.”
