It has been 20 years since 1 dollar was able to buy 1 Euro, but with Europe headed into recessionary territory and facing an energy crisis, the dollar has been steadily gaining against it. In that time period the dollar has dropped as low as 0.64 Euros, making Europe a very expensive place for Americans to visit. Earlier this year a dollar bought just 0.82 Euros, but just 6 months later, it has reached parity.

The strong dollar is bad news for US manufacturers, but it’s good for American tourists, who will now find Europe more affordable than it has been.

Will the dollar’s strength motivate you to travel abroad? How strong do you think the dollar will become versus the Euro?

It will go up to about 1.10€-1.15€ to 1$

Awkward question, does it make sense to use this as an investment opportunity and exchange dollars for euros with a highly likely 30% return in say 2 years from now?!

Do not recommend using Forex unless a seasoned trader. Can lose your money quickly. Best I think is to exchange dollar for euro at a currency exchange or your bank, and hold on to the cash for as long as you are ready to exchange back and comfortable with profits or need the cash. Good luck! And yes, this is pretty cool to see the dollar match the euro for those that enjoy traveling

Could say the same thing about buying stocks right now. There is always risk involved in currency trading, it could take years before the euro recovers or could drop further in the short term, not to mention likely a sight charge to convert your dollars to euros.

Forex is highly leveraged

Your making some wild assumptions there. There’s a lot smarter people with massive pockets that leads to lack of arbitrage plays

Been enjoying the strong dollar for the last 11 days here in Venezia!

Coming back for Sukkos, going to buy eur/usd futures contacts again to hedge in the event the euro goes back up!

“The strong dollar is bad news for US manufacturers”. Do you mean it’s bad for manufactures who sell overseas? Because there purchasing power got stronger.

Or am my missing something?
