For the past couple of years the CDC has had notices for travel to most of the Caribbean due to Zika. Between those warnings and Hurricane damage, other options like Hawaii have seen a surge in tourists.

Bermuda has not had any Zika issues due to its northerly location, but that also means it’s not as warm as its Caribbean neighbors to the south.

The CDC has now removed the Zika travel notice to the Bahamas.

You can view the CDC map of countries with currently active Zika transmission here.

There are lots of great point hotel options in the Bahamas.

For example the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is a category 5 property costing 20K Chase/Hyatt points or 10K points+$125. Plus you can get a rebate of 1,000 points per night.

Marriott has the Atlantis hotels, which range from 35-45K Marriott points (11.6-15K SPG) per night in categories 7, 8, and 9. Atlantis Coral Towers will go up from a 7 to an 8 for bookings made after 3/5. You can stay a week in the Bahamas on one of Marriott’s excellent miles+nights options. For example 110K Starpoints would get you a week in a category 7 Atlantis hotel AND 132K United miles. You can buy Starpoints on sale here.

Will you travel to the Bahamas now that the Zika notice has been lifted?
