Silvercar has changed the Visa Infinite discount, intended for cards like Sapphire Reserve, from 30% to 20% off. On the plus site though, they have eliminated the 2 day minimum rental to use the Visa Infinite discount. See the promo code section below for the new cost to use.

You can still save 30% off on any 5 day+ rental with the code below.

About Silvercar:
Silvercar is a new-age car rental company. Since I first wrote about Silvercar I’ve received lots of rave reviews from readers thanking me for introducing them to Silvercar. Share your experience in the comments!

They now rent the Audi A4, Q5 SUV, and the A5 Cabriolet convertible. Unfortunately they still don’t offer any options that seat more than 5 passengers.

You can now request Peg Perego booster and convertible car seats at no additional charge!

I rented from them in Miami on a 2 day trip in the summer, and unlike the weather at the time, the car rental was a real treat. I called them upon landing and they picked me up from the terminal so that I was able to avoid taking the train to them. After the rental they dropped me off in my rental car right back to the terminal.

Cars come with built-in GPS, satellite radio, bluetooth, leather seats, and even a free WiFi hotspot. Unlimited miles are included in every rental.

You can rent from Silvercar as long as you are at least 22 years old with no underage fees.

I rented a car from Avis in Miami and got hit with a $17.20 bill for a two 70 cent tolls that I apparently passed on SR112. That’s $1.40 for the tolls and $15.80 for an “eToll Convenience Fee.” Convenient for whom is the question?

Silvercar only passes on the toll itself, no convenience fees!

If you don’t refill the fuel you’ll only be charged a $9.95 flat rate fee on top of the actual local price of the gas needed to fill up the car. No need to jeopardize missing your flight just to avoid paying $10/gallon for fuel.

Both AMEX and Chase cover the CDW insurance for a Audi A4, A5, or Q5, just select personal coverage when renting and write AMEX, Chase, etc.

You only pay when you pickup the car, nothing is charged beforehand and there are no cancellation fees ever.

I got charged $10 for gas fill up convenience

Yup

If you’d rather skip refueling to save time and hassle on your return, you’ll be billed at the current local premium fuel rate for exactly what you use, plus a simple $9.95 fill-up fee. No whole-tank pre-pays, and no exaggerated per-gallon markups.

Can you pick up Mia and return to fll

jonny

Yes, call them though

The problem with Silvercar is that even with the promos they’re still too expensive compared to National/Alamo (assuming you know how to use the discount codes and coupons). National Emerald club runs a VERY GOOD operation. I don’t need better service than they provide, and their promotions like “one, two, free” are excellent. The problem now with National though is they don’t want my stinkin’ business: they want only biz travellers paying top dollar. Not as expensive as Silvercar, but not cheap either. But that’s where their sister company Alamo comes in. They’re fine (same cars) and usually cheap.

Dose car reantl have Liability insurance If I am at fault with a different car ?

I love using SilverCar whenever I intend to spend any significant amount of time in the car…such as road trip or such. The power, technology, and comfort of the car and the convenience of the SilverCar service make it worthwhile. I think it often avoids the airport fees as well, so that helps. Really fun cars to drive…

A hat tip? Cool!

Yitz

They don’t allow rentals longer than fourteen days, though

Yonah

I rented with them last April out of FLL. I really loved the experience. The car was great, the staff was pleasant, I didn’t need to worry about tolls. The only 2 caveats:

– In FLL, they are off airport, and they use their Audis to shuttle people. In my case, we were five people, so not all of us were able to get picked up at once – I got picked up, and brought the car back to the airport – a minor inconvenience.

– Same thing on the return – when you drop your car off, they check you out and then use your car to drive you back to the airport, so I also needed to drop my family off before returning the car.

Otherwise, it was completely positive, and I would gladly do it again in a heartbeat.

That being said, I have generally found Sixt (at least in FLL) to be better in that regard. They’re also offsite, but have larger vans picking up and dropping off. They also generally have better rates, and will upgrade you if they don’t have the car class you need.
