Silvercar is a new-age car rental company.

The only car they rentĀ is the all-wheel drive Audi A4. It comes with built-in GPS, satellite radio, bluetooth, leather seats, and even a free WiFi hotspot. Unlimited miles are included in every rental.

I rented a car from Avis in Miami earlier this year and got hit with a $17.20 bill for a two 70 cent tolls that I apparently passed on SR112. That’s $1.40 for the tolls and $15.80 for an “eToll Convenience Fee.” Convenient for whom is the question?

Silvercar only passes on the toll itself, no convenience fees.

If you don’t refill the fuel you’ll only be charged a $5 flat rate fee on top of the actual local price of the gas needed to fill up the car. No need to jeopardize missing your flight just to avoid paying $10/gallon for fuel.

At airports where Silvercar is offsite you’ll get picked up and dropped off at the airport in an Audi as well.

Alas Silvercar is only for those 25 or older. Would have been nice if they dropped that to a more reasonable 21 while they are shaking things up anyway.

If you signup via my referral link here you and I will both get $25 after you complete your first rental. Ā The $25 will sent to you via Paypal after your rental.

Rates for May rentals are just $59/day. Ā Rentals in Miami or Phoenix in May are just $39/day.

-With this link you canĀ save $50 off your first rental that’s at least 2 days long. Ā If it doesn’t take $50 off for you just enter code: AFF-FTDĀ  This is valid for rentals anytime. Ā For example a 2 day rental in MiamiĀ from May 17-19Ā would cost $40.66 ($28 plus $12.66 tax) after the $50 off. Ā Plus you’ll get $25 back after the rental, dropping the effective cost to just $15.66 for 2 days.

Silvercar is currently located in:
Fort Lauderdale/FLL (Effective 05/15)
Los Angeles/LAX
San Francisco/SFO

Do you know of plans for future cities? Thinking specifically of Chicago.

ATL, ORD, and SEA should be up soon.

Dan, you are making me jealous, lol! I’m still waiting for silvercar to open a nyc branch :'(. When will it happen?

Moishe ZichMich

Get something for New York!

Or you could use TWEET50 to get $50 off your first rental.

What’s the minimum age for rental?

What’s the difference?

Read the post?

Thanks Dan!!! I just booked for 3 Days in Miami!! $86 before the $25 on the back-end.. Fantastic deal.

I’ve got mixed feelings with these German cars.

Even you pay me, I would NEVER drive a german car

William, Audi is not a german car.

dan do chase cards provide primary collision insurance?

Dan – they just updated the age limit to 22.

United and Sapphire Preferred do.

#19: from wikipedia: “Audi AG is a German automobile manufacturer that designs, engineers, produces, markets and distributes luxury automobiles. Audi oversees worldwide operations from its headquarters in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. Audi-branded vehicles are produced in nine production facilities worldwide.”

You can decide for yourself whether that means it’s a German car for the purposes that William was referring to.

link to updated age?

I called to confirm it.
They said their website will be updated shortly.

I’m landing in fll tonight at 6 is theRe any way I can get the silver car there tonigh? @dan

Dan i think Post might be a bit misleading
in Phoenix taxes are higher i think so i don’t think it comes out to 15.66 for 2 days

I am landing in FLL tonight at 6 PM Is there any way I can get the silver car from that location ??? @DAN

I wrote in the post that I’m referring to Miami. How much more is Phoenix?

Read the post:
Fort Lauderdale/FLL (Effective 05/15)

When I signed up for it it says u have to be 25?@dan

the headline in blue bold post says Miami or Phoenix

but all is good anyway came out to 107 for me for three days but that’s before the 25 I should get back

so effectively after all said and done approx $27 per day?

Call them and they’ll confirm the new 22 age.
Website hasn’t been updated yet.

Headline says $39/day.
2 days in Phoenix for a new customer seems to be $49 less $25=$24 or $12/day for 2 days.

how do you get 12/day?

see my confirmation below take 25 off 107 and you get 82 divide 82 by three days and you get approx 27 per day

May 10, 2015 through May 13, 2015 at PHX #24E18C2100

Read the post and the comment again. It’s referring to a 2 day rental.

I am trying to rent from may 15-18. It’s telling me 158$ total. Is that the deal? Or does it get better?

Why don’t they rent to 18 with a usaa like hertz

what about insurance do credit card companies cover it?

How much is liability inserance?

is it possible to do a 1 day rental , I try to book one day and it tells me there is a 2 day minimum , does that make sense ?

Do you have your own car?

You need to remove the $50 promo code for a one day rental.

does sapphire have a limit on how expensive the car is for coverage?

Dr Moose

When I was in FL for Pesach, I just bought a SunPass tag, which I will now take along with me each time I go to FL, no need to be bothered with toll convenience fees from any company.

BTW I got an excellent deal on a one-way rental of a 12 passenger van (one of those cool new Ford Transit XLT), I paid under $120 TOTAL to pick up first day Chol Hamoed in FLL and drop off Tuesday night after Pesach at JFK (had a flight to TLV, so got my own transportation to the airport). This great deal was booked through – which I usually find to have great rental deals.

That being said, the policies of this company seem to make lots of sense, but I don’t think I will rent from them if all they rent is German cars.

You can call and verify that they’ll cover the model of car you’re renting.

I verified the A4 with AMEX and Chase.

Is it really logical not to take a German car when it costs less than the inferior competition?

Would you not fly Lufthansa to Israel if they had crazy cheap fares?

Would you not buy a Bosch mixer if there was a deal on it?

What about shopping at Trader Joe’s or Aldi?

Where do you draw that line…

is silvercar located in the main rental car building in Miami international?

Beware, they do not accept cash, debit or prepaid cars and will turn you down!

Can I park by Miami (leave my car for 2 days)

Still says 25 yrs old online

great company. they are going to go far.

past silver car renter

@Scotchy88: i spoke to a rental agent in miami and she told me that they have opened a pop up location in williamsberg to test the waters. i don’t have any more information than that.
