With interest rates sure to rise steadily, this is a great way to lock in a high rate and be able to then switch to an account with a higher rate without penalty.

There is no hard credit inquiry performed for opening a CIT account.

  • No penalty to access funds if needed before maturity
  • No opening or maintenance fees
  • Daily compounding interest to maximize your earning potential
  • FDIC insured

CD interest rates can change after the 11 month initial period and may change without notice at that time. As of 09/22/2022 11 month no-penalty CD accounts earns 2.50% Annual Percentage Yield (APY) on all balances. A minimum deposit of $1,000 is required to open the account. Fees may reduce earnings.

Do you need to open new account to get higher rate or will old savings adjust automatically?

Mark

I just checked and it didn’t adjust automatically. My rate is still 0.87% … Ganovim!

Dan

Close it and open a new one.

You need their Savings Connect account to receive the 2.4%. Yours is most likely the Savings Builder account.

I tried to open an account and this was the email that I got this morning…

“Thank you for your recent interest in opening an account with CIT Bank. We regret to inform you that after a thorough review of your application, we have elected to not open a bank account for you at this time. We wish you the best of luck in your search for your banking needs.”

Any thoughts as to why?
