Earlier this year JetBlue improve their TrueBlue program by eliminating the expiration date for points.
Of course the real achilles’ heel of the program is that the points just aren’t worth as much as other point currencies and that they lack aspirational international award redemptions. You can transfer American Express points to JetBlue but there are several better options than that to get more value out of your points.
But it would be nice if more domestic airlines allowed families to pool their points together.
British Airways Avios allows family pooling but by doing so you disable to ability to redeem your points for anyone outside of your family pool, which makes that a poor option.
JetBlue will allow you to continue to redeem for people outside of your pool, which makes it far more beneficial than the BA program.
Other airlines that have household pooling options include ANA, Asiana, Etihad, Emirates, JAL, Korean, Qantas, and Turkish.
Hotels are much more generous in this regard. Starwoods allow you to transfer points between anyone at the same address for free. Hyatt allows anyone to transfer your points to anyone in order for them to be able to redeem an award. Marriott lets you transfer points to a spouse in order for them to be able to redeem an award.
And of course Chase allows spouses to transfer points to each other as well.
