Barclays JetBlue Plus Consumer Card

Barclays JetBlue Business Card

  • Both the JetBlue Plus Consumer Card and the JetBlue Business Card are offering a 50K signup bonus for signing up and spending $1,000 within 90 days and another 50K signup bonus points for spending a total of $6,000 in 12 months.
  • Both cards have a $99 annual fee.
  • Barclays has a 6/24 rule, similar to Chase’s 5/24 rule.
  • The value of JetBlue points has been massively devalued with the launch of basic economy fares. While points used to be worth up to 1.5 cents each, a value of about 1 cent per point, compared to basic economy, is more typical today. Compared to a regular economy ticket you can get a value of 1.1-1.3 cents per point. The value in MINT class is also about 1 cent per point.
  • Both cards give you a 10% rebate on JetBlue award flights, though they no longer stack together like they used to if you have both cards.
  • Both cards earn 6 points per dollar on JetBlue flights and 2 points per dollar on restaurants. The consumer card also earns 2 points per dollar on groceries while the business card also earns 2 points per dollar at office supply stores.
  • Both cards offer a free checked bag for you and up to 3 companions on the same reservation, even on basic economy fares. Officially it says you need to use the JetBlue card to buy your tickets for that benefit, but that’s not enforced in my experience. It’s worth noting that while having a credit card works to board early with other airlines even on basic economy fares, it does not help with JetBlue as the card doesn’t have an early boarding benefit. That means you’ll have to wait until the end of boarding and you may have to check your carry-on bag if there isn’t sufficient space on the plane.
  • Both cards offer a 5,000 point anniversary bonus after each account anniversary.
  • JetBlue points never expire. JetBlue also allows families to pool all of their points together.
  • The Consumer Plus card offers an annual $100 statement credit when you book a $100+ JetBlue vacation package.
  • If you spend $50K in a calendar year on either card then you’ll get JetBlue Mosaic status for the remainder of the calendar year and for the following calendar year. While that status used to be quite valuable due to free flight changes and heavily discounted upgrades to EMS seats, it is no longer nearly as valuable as changes are free for everyone and JetBlue massively raised the price of EMS upgrades without providing any notice.
  • Both cards also offer a 50% rebate for in-flight purchases of cocktails, food, JetBlue movies and other eligible purchases.
  • Both cards offer no foreign transaction fees.
