For El Al tickets purchased between today and 12/31 for travel anytime, you can select kids seating for $1, even in extra legroom SPACE seating. Exit row/bulkhead seating (row 21 and 35) is excluded.
This promo is valid even on basic economy LITE fares.
Kids seating is available for all kids under the age of 12.
For now, SPACE seating between the US and Israel is a $100 flat fee, but expect that to go dynamic in the future as it is with US carriers.
You can add the seating at the time of purchase or afterward:

Is that why theres an extra expense to book a flight with an in lap infant, even if you dont want there to be?
This is so stupid. Now there won’t be any availability.
Up to what age?
Kids seating is available for all kids under the age of 12.
Untill what age?
That is a very useful use of space
They had to do this because there were major issues of parents being put 10 rows away from their kids. This way you can put your kid next to you for a dollar, or incentivize more people to buy seats.
Would this also work on mileage bookings? like Qantas, Delta, Air France & Virgin?
It works for Qantas bookings
Thanks.
I purchased tickets in May through Qantas for travel in April 2025 and I see I could now purchase a space seat for that flight for a child for $1
ElAl is sneaky with their space seating. On airlines like United they specify that economy plus gives you an extra three inches of legroom.
The only seats that actually give you significantly more room are the bulkhead and exit rows that are excluded from this. Those are labeled as Extra Space seats.
For the regular Space seats ElAl doesn’t disclose how much extra space it is. From looking on the plane I couldn’t tell any difference to the naked eye between the space seats and regular seats.
After digging around online for a while I found a seat map schematic that showed the actual measurements and the Space seats were less than half an inch difference to regular seats.
If ElAl want to charge extra for these seats (especially if they plan to increase the pricing) they should be transparent with their customers and open about how much extra space they are getting.
just tried to add seats for my 3 kids, asking 100$ , booked the ticket 2 weeks ago on elal website
“For El Al tickets purchased between today and 12/31”
I purchased tickets through Qantas 3 months ago and Elal offered these seats for the kids for $1
Booked a flight today. Seat assignments are free in economy. There is a $100 charge per passenger for a Space seat “upgrade,” even for a young child on my reservation. What am I doing wrong?
I was confused by the title, wondering why kids would need extra legroom
How do I actually add the seat for my child? It shows me the offer in the app but I can’t figure out exactly how to add.
Did you figure out how to add? I’m having the same issue
