Update 2: A number of commenters (that registered before Delta stealthily changed the promotion terms) have had success getting Delta to honor the original 30% bonus on top of the 50% bonus! They faxed Delta at 404-773-1945 and explained that when they made the transfer it was because there was a 50% and 30% bonus and the terms did not state that they couldn’t be combined until 01/31. They also sent a copy of the screenshot that I saved that shows the original terms before Delta changed them.
Send the fax ASAP and let us know how it goes for you!

THIS DEAL IS DEAD, DO NOT TRANSFER TO DELTA EXPECTING AN 80% BONUS ANYMORE!

Update, 01/31: Delta is now reneging and has just updated the terms of the 50% bonus offer and it now says that it can’t be combined with other promotions!
They just added this line under “bonus award information:” “May not be combined with any other Membership Rewards offers between January 14 and May 31, 2011.”
Before today it did not say this! Here is a link to a screenshot of the terms and conditions before today that did not have this verbiage.

50% Bonus Miles Offer Registration Linky

The 50% bonus offer is only for first-time transfers from AMEX into that Delta account.
If you transfer at least 50,000 points you will also get 25,000 MQMs which will get you Delta Silver Medallion status through 02/28/13!
With Elite status you will get free checked luggage, upgrades, bonus miles, and much much more.

People are reporting that these 2 promotions are stackable and that the 50% bonus+MQM offer is posting instantly while the 30% bonus is posting within a couple days after.
So if you transfer 50,000 AMEX Points you get 90,000 miles and elite status:
-50,000 base Delta redeemable miles
-15,000 redeemable miles for the 30% bonus promo
-25,000 redeemable miles for the 50% bonus promo
-25,000 MQMs for Elite status through 02/28/13.

Beware that Delta miles are worth much less than most other miles as they charge much more for most trips and they are part of the Skyteam Alliance, which has very poor award availability. They’re called “Skypesos” for a reason!

deltacaptn

if i transferred amex last time into my delta account, this will NOT work?

thanks

Dan

@deltacaptn:
Not with that same Delta account.

dont shoot me :-)

I know – I should check other posts – but it’s 3 AM… 🙂
How many delta miles & how much $$$ does it take to go to Israel on Delta?

Hi

Dan, How much delta miles do i need to go to israel on coach or business

alex

So is it really worth it converting? How many miles do u need nyc to tlv? What other airlines can u use it on?
Thank u, Alex

teachnyc

Hey Dan, hope you can help me out,
Im thinking of going to Europe for the summer and I have 55000 MR points and 25000 Starwood as well as the Amex Plat (thanks to your advice).
Is it possible to do the following:
Fly NYC -London on ANA carrier roundtrip business during reg season which is under 7k miles or 60000 ANA points and then seperate trip London -Prague ( a roundtrip distance of less than 1300 miles or 15000 ANA points) and make two stops along the way one in amsterdam for a week and another yet to be determined location for another week. Bringing total ANA points needed to 75000 ANA points, which my starwood and MR points would cover?
If I can do this, how would you approach it, call the airline, find the fight first, etc?
Your insight would be very helpful
Thanks

Avi

I am looking to move my newly awarded platinum points so that i may cancel the card. I have more points in my gold amex account, but i am concerned that if i leave them there amex will take them back.

Should i transfer to Delta? are there any codes needed for this deal? Do delta charge a fuel charge. i see a ticket to Israel from Pittsburgh is 100K + $45 tax, are there any other hidden fees?

My thinking is.
Transfer 100K Amex miles to Delta = 180K (90K per 50K transfered) then transfer 30K chase saphire points (if possible) to bring it closer to the necessary 200K for 2 tickets

Eli

Hey Dan,
I just signed up last month for the Amex-Platinum, I will be getting the 50k point next statement, should I transfer them to Delta for this deal?

Crunch

Dan,

Both links seem to indicate 30%… Is the 50% link broken?

Also, I spent $1,000 on my Platinum card on mint coins. I got my first bill three weeks ago but still no sign of the 50,000 points… Do you think it is because it was mint coins or does it typically take a while to post the points? (I know that technically it can take up to 4-8 weeks but, as a long time Starwood card holder, I know points generally show up a day or so after the statement…)

Thanks!

yossi

I found the correct 50% linky http://dmn.delta.com/offers/getmore/

It says “If you transfer 50,000 points or more, you’ll also receive 25,000 Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs). That’s enough to give you Medallion status and benefits like waived baggage fees, unlimited upgrades, preferred seating, and more.
And if you make additional Membership Rewards® points transfers through March 31, 2011, register here to receive a 30% bonus on those transfers.”

Does this mean that you need to make 2 transfers cuz it seems that the additional 30 is only on additional transfers.

Thanks

Blubber

Thanks Dan but I wish this deal was for American airlines. Any way to make that work????

yoiley

Delta coach is 80k nyc-tlv however availability for 80k is limited and could cost 110k or even 130k with 60k amex you could go with ana/star aliance so before you transfer make sure it makes sense for your particular needs. I personaly use my miles to fly nyc-los angelos which is 25k so I get almost 4 tickets for the price of 2 but this deal isn’t a grand slam for everyone! Use your brains and see if its for you!

bochur in bmg

How much time do i have to “borrow” miles from amex until i need to “pay them back”

Dan

@bochur in bmg:
You have 12 months to pay back points.
If you don’t pay bak MR points by then or by the time you close your card they will charge you 2.5 cents per points.
Or course considering that this deal gives 1.8 redeemable points as well as elite miles that might not be too bad!

mb

I am going to receive 50,000 points soon for the card I recently signed up for. Can I use those points? Can I borrow from Amex against those points? How many points will I get for transferring?

mb

Dan:
I am not understanding. What is MQM Miles. Do I get 90,000 + 25,000 for a total of 115,000. If not what does it mean 25,000 MQM miles? Thanks

Dan

@mb:
Yes, you can borrow against those points.
For 50,000 AMEX points you get 90,000 redeemable miles which means they can be used for award tickets.

You also get 25,000 MQM, which is what most airlines call EQM, or elite qualifying miles, which by Delta is medallion qualifying miles.
These miles can’t be used for award tickets, they’re only good for elite status. With 25,000 of them you get Silver status. If you get more MQMs you can work your way up to Gold, Platinum, and Diamond status.

mb

Dan:
Do the names on the Delta and AMEX accounts have to match?

SB

Dan, if I open a platinum account today for the 50K can I borrow the 50k on that card even I already have more than 50K on my Amex Gold, or will it deduct from the gold before it lets me borrow against the platinum? I would do it this way because I want to ultimately cancel the platinum card.

Dan

@mb:
They do not have to match!

@SB:
What is the difference? Just use the points you have with your gold card.
Even if you cancel the Plat card you can still combine the 50K points from it with the Gold card points.

Hey

I have 25,000 amex points from your charge card gold deal. Is it worth it for me to buy the rest and transfer them to delta?! What do you recomend? Thanks!

Dan

@Hey:
Why not open an AMEX Plat card?
You’ll be able to borrow the 50,000 points as soon as you’re approved!

Otherwise 25,000 AMEX points will cost you $625. Do the math yourself to see if it’s worthwhile.

JP

Dan, is this worth it in your opinion if I already have complimentary Gold status on Delta? (from amex centurion) Thanks!

Myairplane

I checked Delta.com and I cant find any benefits that being a Silver member entitles you to?? It seems that only being a Gold(which is 50,000 MQM) has benefits.

Dan

@JP:
I can’t answer that question as everyone uses their miles for different things. For some it will be worth it. For others ANA, Continental, or Air Canada may still be a better choice.

@Myairplane:
Silver gets you:
-2 free 70 pound checked bags for you and everyone on your itinerary
-Rollover MQMs
-Upgrades to First Class 1 day before the flight
-Companion upgrades to First Class
-25% bonus miles on flights
-Preferred Seating
-Priority Waitlisting
-Priority Check-in Line
-Priority Boarding
-Priority Phone line
-Skyteam Elite status.

Dave

I just transfered 50.000 and i only got 75,000. How do i get 90,000?

Dan

@Dave:
The post isn’t too long. I would hope you would at least read through it to understand how it works before transferring that many points!

MILES

is it first time for delta or AMEX example if i transfer to a delta from an other amex card then lest time will i get the 50% bonus and is the 25MQM also for first time only maybe i can open a new delta account and combine it (can we combine delta accounts)

Dan

@MILES:
It’s based on the Delta account. This will work only for the first time you transfer AMEX points to that Delta account.
Accounts in the same name can be merged on delta.com: https://www.delta.com/skymiles/manage_account/view_account_activity/merge_accounts/index.jsp

MILES

@JP:
what is amex centurion ? how can we get with it complimentary Gold status on Delta?

Dan

@MILES:
AMEX Centurion=AMEX Black card
$250,000/year annual credit card spend on an AMEX charge card required.
$5,000 initiation fee.
$2,500 annual fee.
All for a titanium card that won’t work in many credit card machines.

MILES

@Dan:
whats the benefits of the black card

JP

@Dan/Miles: that is correct re: Centurion Card. I am an “additional cardholder” on a client’s account which costs $1500 per year. I think it’s actually worth the $1500 per year considering the perks and elite statuses I’ve received: gold on delta, continental, us airways, virgin atlantic; $500 gift cards to several stores; no blackout season passes to top ski resorts. Sorry to digress off-thread, Dan!

MILES

the 25MQM is also only for first time in the original post its says – The 50% bonus offer is only for first-time transfers from AMEX into that Delta account.-

Devorah

Is there any Star Alliance (other than UA/CO) and/or One World airline that will status match Delta Silver?

Dan

@JP:
For $1,500 it may be worth it. If anyone wants to add me to their Centurion card let me know 🙂

Do the additional cardholders get their own $500 gift cards? To which stores?
Of course CO gold will be going away after this year.

@Devorah:
Try your luck with these guys for matching:
Alaska
BMI (Star)
Cathay Pacific (OneWorld)
LAN (OneWorld)

MILES

Dan when u answered (It’s based on the Delta account. This will work only for the first time you transfer AMEX points to that Delta account.)is it only for the 50 % bonus or also for 25MQM

Marc

Dan –

Welcome back. 2 questions.

1 – If I transferred 50k amex miles to delta on the deal you posted a few weeks ago – 75k delta miles, 25k mqm, silver elite status – do you think I could contact delta and try to get the additional 30% offer that’s available now as well? If so, do you have an e-mail for them?

2 – Is the amex platinum card deal for 50k bonus points the best deal youve seen for opening a platinum amex. If i cancel the card once the 50k points hit my account, I’ll still be charged the $450 initiation fee, correct?

THANKS

Shucks

I transfered my amex points to delta at the 50% but didn’t register for the 30% 🙁
Realized less than an hour later and now registered for the 30%. Anyone think there’s a chance it will work or is it wishful thinking

yoily

Is there a rush to do this, or can I wait until my amex points post?

Dan

@MILES:
It’s unclear.

@Marc:
1. Highly doubtful.
2. 50K is the best publicly available offer ever.
If you cancel the card within a couple months they usually refund the entire fee, even if you transferred out the points. Otherwise if you cancel after say 3 months they will prorate the $450 fee, so you’ll only wind up paying a quarter of the fee for 3 months of usage!

@Shucks:
Probably wishful thinking. But ya’ never know. Give it a few days and see if you get them and let us know!

@yoily:
They may decide to stop letting the promos stack, so transfer sooner rather than later if you want to do this promo.

Personally I’m still not sure if I should do this or just let them sit in my AMEX account and then transfer to Continental, ANA, or Air Canada.

Marc

One more…
re your comment above to Devorah for trying other lines for the elite status match…

Are elite status matches a once in a lifetime opportunity on every airline? I’m not sure I want to try and match my status on the above mentioned airlines to my Delta Silver because I may become gold/platinum at a later date.

Thanks.

Blonde?

I read thru the whole post twice and cant find basic step by step how to actually do the transfer. I followed all the links, linked my amex to delta account and still am stuck with what to do next. Also, is there a way to confirm how many skymiles points you will get before completing the transfer? TIA

Chaim

I signed up and got approved for the platinum amex with 50k bonus a few weeks ago and charged and paid off $1k+. I am waiting for the points to post. I am trying to book a trip from LA to Maui this summer for my wife and I. I was planning on transferring the amex points to continental since you’ve said in the past they tend to have the best availability and use those miles. Is it now worth it instead to transfer to delta? Continental charges 40k per roundtrip and delta seems to charge 52.5K. Any chance continental will come out with a similar offer in the near future? Or just go with this delta deal? What would you recommend?

As an aside, my wife has 16k in her continental mileage account. Any way I can transfer that to my account and use it towards this trip?

Thanks!

Dan

@Marc:
Generally status matches are once per lifetime.

@Blonde?:
If you can’t figure out how to transfer points on the AMEX site then try calling the number on the back of your card to get someone to transfer the points for you.
The site will only reflect the base 50,000 points, not the bonus points which are added by Delta, not by AMEX.

@Chaim:
At those rates it may make sense to transfer to Delta.
Bear in mind though that each airline has their own rules

Continental allows you to change the date and routing for free up to 21 days before the flight.

Delta will charge you $150 per ticket for that.

Then again Continental charges an expedite fee while Delta doesn’t. United doesn’t charge one either so maybe Continental will get rid of their soon as well…who knows!

Once miles are in an airline account they generally can’t be transferred.

yudi

Tough question, if I send my 50k amex points to CO I’ll be at 250k…

or open a Delta and get 90k plus silver? Any suggestions?

yudi

the 30% link doesn’t seem to be working?

Dan

@yudi:
Works for me.

MILES

so is it a good idea to open a new account and merge it

Chaim

Thanks Dan.

The ability to change dates/routes for free makes the continental option a better choice for me.

Is it worth transferring the amex points now using the “borrow” option (since my 50k points haven’t posted yet) and book now when availability will be better or wait in case continental has a similar offer?

Also, does borrowing points interfere with your ability to cancel and still not lose points?

Dan

@Chaim:
Continental hasn’t had an AMEX offer in many years. Don’t count on one.

You don’t want to cancel the card until you get the signup points, so that shouldn’t make a difference.

Jay

Hey just to give the heads up. I tried to register my SkyMiles account with the 50% promotion and received an error stating that my skymile account is not eligible for this bonus. I was confused so I called Delta and they explained to me that since I transfered 1000 points from amex to skymiles almost a year ago this disqualifies me. This has to be the FIRST TIME you are ever transferring amex points to your skymiles account. Dan, can I open another skymiles account under my name and transfer it there? Also, does elite status give you all the benefits on a Delta sponsered flight like with Alitalia ?

not transfering

it doesnt seem to work when i try to transfer my points, does it make a difference that i have a zinc amex and not platunim?

JP

@Dan- They have sent us $500 gift cards to Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani and St. John. Those were one per account. They also gave a free night and two free season passes to Rock Resorts which includes nearly a dozen mostly high end ski resorts around Colorado and Lake Tahoe. That later benefit was two free passes per cardholder.

The Continental gold status carried over to United this year. Not sure what will happen for 2012.

Chaim

Hi Dan,

How do I borrow points? The only option that I see on my account is to buy points which would cost $1250

Thanks

Anonymous

@Dan – First-time transfer question.
I saw people from flyertalk was NOT able to register the offer because they did the transfer under similar offer last Dec.
But my situation is different. I transferred my Amex MR to Delta in Oct 2008. I successfully register the 50% offer (already appeared in “View Your SkyMiles Promotions”). Will I qualify for the offer? Thanks!

Anonymous

in terms of value -if wanted to sell points- 50k amex vs 90k delta??

ym

@Anonymous: amex points are 1.5 (max 1.6). With Delta you should be able to get 1 cent (minimum 100k) – that’s the quote that I got (if anyone know where to get more let me know) . Do the math and you’ll make more money with Delta miles.

shimi

With regard to borrowing the points from amex, i spoke to them and they told me that they transfer the points directly to your selected place. Do u think bc i’m not doing the transfer directly from my account i will still be able to get the bonus?
Thx

Meir

I saw this in the fine print:

“For each conversion of points into the SkyMiles program, a fee of $0.0006 per point, with a maximum fee of $99, will be charged to your Card account.”

Does this mean that a few of $30 is charged for this?

Shabbaz

did anyone actually receive 30% bonus on top of the 50%? Delta’s website clearly states 30% for additonal transfers after the first transfer which receives 50%. Not 30% on top of 50%.

Yossi

How do I stack them?

shmuel

Can I merge 2 delta accounts if I make a new one to get in on the 50% bonus and will the silver status transfer over?

Gabbai

Dan: do you think it is worth transferring say 33,300 Starwood miles in AMEX membership reward miles which will give me 100,000 then transferring those 100,000 miles into Delta which will give me 100,000 + 50,000 + 45,000 = 195,000 DELTA miles for 33,300 Starwood miles?

macher

Dan can you help me, im under 25 and trying to rent a car in fort lauradale airport in florida without paying underage fees. Is there any way to avoid them??

yoily

@ gabbai
How does transferring 33,000 starwood miles get you 100,000 amex rewards, is there something I don’t know?

answer

@macher:
with enterprise Chabad corporate they waive the fee also from my experience with hertz you call them up they might waive the fee.

deltacaptn

Is there a maximum to how many amex I can transfer into my new Delta account and still get the 50% + 30% bonus?

Dan

@yoily:
It was wishful thinking. There’s no such option.

@deltacaptn:
There’s no max!

deltacaptn

So I can do 650,000 amex and it will give me 1.17 million delta??

Leiby

I registered at both of the links, but when I went to transfer the points, it said that I first have to link my Skymiles account to my AMEX MR account. I gave the info, but it says that it can take 1-2 weeks to get linked. Is there a way to transfer the points before the accounts get linked?

Dan

@deltacaptn:
It seems like it should.
Are you sure you want that many Delta miles though? I’m not a big fan of them.

@Leiby:
It should link instantly. Did you try making a transfer.

question

Delta Silver Medallion status through 02/28/13!

i called delta and they told me it last only for a year

also in the fine print it says
Taxes and Fees:
Enrollment in SkyMiles is required. Airline tickets are subject to availability. For each conversion of points into the SkyMiles program, a fee of $0.0006 per point, with a maximum fee of $99

what does that mean

Steven Edward

Has anyone actually received the 30% bonus on top of the 50% bonus for the first transfer? I received the 50% instantly but not an additional 30 %. Delta’s site said that the 30% was only for the second transfer. So I wouldn’t be able to fight them on it.

yisroel

Dan is it worth to sell miles or transfer? Seemed to me u can get more out of selling. Also do u have someone reliable to sell them to?
Thanks

mikeoracle

I can confirm that I did a transfer today of 80K Amex that instantly deposited 144K into the Delta account.
Both 50% and 30% bonuses posted instantly.

M

Dan, what’s with the 0.0006 per point fee everyone is asking about? Is that for real? How do they bill it?

bmi

Dan I have transfered from my amex point to my account before so I take it won’t work for me? Here’s the question if I transfer from my sisters account to my account will I get the bonus?

MO

Dan can i transfer 50k into two different delta accountns and then combine them for 50,000 bonus madalion miles (25,000 x2).

M

Is there a 0.0006 per point fee for transferring?

Dan

@M:
Yes, but $30 for 50,000 points (90,000 miles) is small potatoes.
There is no fee if you transfer to foreign carriers like ANA or Air Canada.

MILES

if i transfer 100k and the 25k will i get the bounces for both transfers

graduh

When applying for 30 percent off for after 50 percent off they told me that I was already registered

MO

I only got the 50% bonus and not the 30% after transferring my points, Help.

Dan

@MO:

“Members will receive a 30% mileage bonus on all miles transferred from the date you register through March 31, 2011. Please allow up to 4 weeks after point transfer to receive mileage bonus.”

Yosef

Beware:
People on FT are reporting that the double dip may be dead, and that you may only get 75, not 90 total.

People had been getting the 90 almost instantly, but now are only getting the 75. True, it may take time to post the extra 30%, but it also may be that Delta caught the double promo and ended it.
Transferer beware….

deltacaptn

I transferred my 640K AMEX on Friday hoping to get 1.152 million and I only got 960K (50% bonus), I need the extra 30% for my reservations on hold. How long do I wait to know if I’m going to get the points or not? Anyone else’s extra 30% post?

Mark the Shark

I am waiting too. I called Delta last night and they said it would post, but technically they have 4 – 6 weeks, so give it time.

Meyer

If I open a new delta account and transfer 50000 AMEX can I then combine it with my esting account and get another 25000 MQM points eve though I did it in my old account as well?

Sam

Some people are reporting that $200 in AA gift cards get reimbursed. How to go about doing this? do we register with AMEX Platinium for AA and then go and purchase the $200 gift cards?

Eli

Dan – I signed up, spent $1000, paid the bill, waiting for points to post. Meanwhile, I’m trying to ‘borrow’ the points, and transfer to Delta, but it doesn’t give me that option.
When I emailed CSR, I was told I had to be a cardmember for 60 days before becoming eligible for ‘borrowing’.
Any advice? Thanks.

Yosef

T&Cs have been changed and say not combinable…
Anyone save their screenshot?

Dan
deltacaptn

If I registered for the promo the first day and then transferred my points on Friday will I still get my 30% that I’m waiting for?

Eli

@Dan:
I guess no advice for me?

deltacaptn

anyone else still waiting on the 30%???

Mb

Dan –

Back in December, when Delta/Amex had the deal for 50k amex points in exchange for 75k delta and 25k mqm, I made a transfer of 50k amex points. Now, I want to transfer another 50k amex points for 90k delta points, but it wont let me register for the 50% link! It says that I “don’t meet the eligibility criteria.”

As always, thanks!

Ornit

I signed up for both the 50% and 30% when it first came out, but I did not transfer my miles until yesterday. The 50% posted instantly & I am still waiting for the 30% to post. Does anyone know if Delta is still honoring the original terms for people who signed up earlier ? Also how long is it taking them to post the 30% ? Any info. would be helpful, since I have some tickets holding.

Thanks so much !!

deltacaptn

@ Ornit.

I’m in the same boat as you.

I transferred my points in on Friday morning and got the 50% instantly and am still waiting on the 30%.

If anyone has received the 30% bonus please can you let us know?

My tickets are on hold!

moish

Dan,
how does one transfer miles from amex platinum to delta sky miles.I still didn’t get the miles and amex said I can’t advance the miles for the first 6 month can someone tell me how to do it on line
thanks
keep up the good work

ym

Is there any updates? Are they honoring the 30% as well?

Marc

Dan –

I transferred 50k amex points to Delta and got 75k plus 25 mqm the last time you posted the deal. I did NOT register for the 50% before they changed the terms this time around. Do you advise I wait for a similar deal with Delta OR just take the 30% and transfer now?

thanks!

deltacaptn

I registered before they switched the terms and conditions and after fighting with Delta for the last 2 weeks they will NOT honor the 30%.

I had transferred 640,000 AMEX to get 1,150,000 Delta for 5 tickets to Israel in business (during peak sukkos time), and now only have 960,000.

I am furious to say the least and will not be dealing with Delta again, no matter how big the bonus.

Dan

@deltacaptn:
-Write to your state’s attorney general along with supporting documentation. They are often able to help.

-Take Delta to Small Claims Court.

MO

IM A BIT CONFUSED DOES THIS MEAN I 4SURE WILL NOT GET THE ADDITIONAL 30% BONUS POINTS IM WAITING TO GET

deltacaptn

@ Dan

How do I have supporting documentation that the promo’s were stackable? The t & c doesn’t say anywhere that it’s stackable.

@ MO

If you find a way to get the extra 30% please let me know but I don’t think you will get it.

Dan

@deltacaptn:
Delta changed the terms on 01/31 to say that the promos weren’t stackable.
Before then many people reported that they got both bonuses.
The screenshot of the old terms is linked to in the post.

Ornit

@ deltacaptn

Did Amex help you at all ? I sat on the phone 1 week ago with a manager from Amex and Delta for well over an hour. I was bounced around to 4 different people who all tried to pass it off on someone else. They told me that all my info was submitted to a supervisor and that I would hear back in 10-14 days. I also followed up with a fax of the screen shot prior to them changing the rules as well as a paragraph from this website stating that people have reported receiving both bonuses.
I’m not sure if any of this will work, but I am still waiting to hear. I will keep you posted.

deltacaptn

I emailed the t & c to the delta rep I spoke with (for over an hour), and she told me that it doesn’t explicitly state anywhere that the bonuses are stackable, therefor she will not honor it.

Joe

I applied for and got the AmEx Platinum card. I immediately borrowed 60,000 Membership Reward Points and transferred them to my SkyMiles account after registering for both the 30% and 50% bonus. The miles and 50% bonus posted immediately along with the 25,000 MQMs. However, the 30% bonus did not post. I checked back here and saw the update about the change in Delta’s terms and conditions. I faxed Delta a copy of the screenshot found here and asked them to credit my account with the 18,000 miles that they owed me. I mentioned in the fax that I had only made the original transfer based upon the expectation of utilizing both offers because in general SkyMiles are not worth much. Two days later they were deposited into my account along with an email explaining that they had resolved the issue. Thanks Dan!

Dan

@Joe:
Awesome!
What was the number you faxed it to?
Glad I could help out with the screenshot!

Joe

The fax number I used is 404-773-1945.

manny

I HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE 30% BONUS,
SPENT TIME ON THE PHONE WITH SUPERVISORS A COUPLE OF HOURS TO TRY TO GET THIS POINTS, BUT NOTHING!!!!!
WAS A WRONG TRANSFER,,,
SORRY DAN FOR THIS POSTING.

Dan

@manny:
Yup, Delta is a bunch of cheats.
Try that fax number above that worked for the previous poster to get the bonus and let us know what happens.
Explain the situation, send them the screenshot.
Oh, and don’t write to them in caps.

manny

Thanks Dan for the advice i have tried it and here is the respond,
Dear Mr. Neuhauser,

Thank you for participating in 2011 Membership Rewards 50% Transfer
Bonus program.

Please know that the bonus miles requested have already been posted to
your SkyMiles account.

We understand that you have also enrolled in the 30% bonus Membership
Rewards points transfer promotion and have been unable to retain the
points. Please contact American Express at 800-430-1000 in order to
understand terms and conditions.

Mr. Neuhauser, thank you again for giving us an opportunity to respond
to your concern. We very much appreciate your Medallion loyalty to Delta
and look forward to the privilege of serving you again soon.

Sincerely,

Rick Sage

sigh

they told me that under the 50% bonus milage page it states not available with any other transfer bonus’s therefore they wont do it. Very frustrating to work with them right hand doesnt know left hand.

Dan

@sigh:
They only added that language on 01/28.
If you applied on or before that date it did not say that. See the screenshot of the old terms in the post update.

sigh

tnx will try w that!

manny

Hi Dan,,

It worked i faxed over a letter, and here is the respond,

deltacaptn

manny

Thanks in advance !!

Dan

@Jack:
Well done!!!

@manny:
You can’t.
But if you find anyone I also have Pesos that I would love to trade for Dollars.

Jack

dan

btw i made transfer after they changed the terms and conditions but i registerd before. and i send in copies of both promo.

thanks dan for the screenshot..

sigh

can anyone say how long it took from the time you sent the fax till the time you heard from delta? thanks!

Jack

@sigh

it took me 2 days till i got a email from them and got it the credit in my account

G F

Can the Amex Blue points be transfered to Delta for this deal or any airline?

Dan

@G F:
This deal is D-E-A-D as a doorknob!

If you also have an AMEX Plat or AMEX Gold you can transfer Blue points to an airline. With just a blue card you can’t.

sigh

thanks jack… well see what happens, when i emailed them thru comments on website i got shot down by someone from medallion desk. i hope a different dept. gets those faxes! I faxed it yesterday so ill give it till monday then call in i guess.

shimi

what happens if i signed up but just didn’t transfer yet will they still honor the deal?

ruch

thanx for the post – just tryi ng to figure out – if i transfer the points – does it take up to 6 weeks from may31 to get the double points? i understand it will transfer right away but with that does it double right away?
thanx

Dan

@shimi:
@ruch:
DEAD
DEAD
DEAD
DEAD
DEAD
DEAD
I’m not really sure how to stress that anymore than that?

HSS

@Dan:

Dan,

The promos are still valid they just wont stack together for an 80% bonus. So if someone wants to risk it, they will still get the 50% and the 25k EQM’s and then try to hock Delta for the 30% but there is no guarrantee it will work, but when you write DEAD DEAD DEAD it makes it sound like the whole promo is dead.

I personally feel that I may transfer 50k and at least get my 50% bonus and silver status and being that I have screenshot of my actual offer registration confirmation I think I may have a good shot of proving to them that I registered under the old terms and see if I could get them to honor them. I think its worth a shot, dont you?

HSS

Dan

@HSS:
I’m just trying to be clear that the deal as I posted it is dead.

Anyway just remember that 1.5 Delta miles is not worth as much as 1 ANA, Air Canada, or Continental miles is worth. Personally I’d say 1 Delta mile is equal to just .5 of most other miles.

HSS

@Dan:

I guess it depends what you want to do with them…. 😉

Dan

@HSS:
Not really. With Delta’s near complete lack of saver awards, being part of a 3rd-string alliance, charging fuel surcharges on many partner flights as well as all flight from outside the US, and the lack of partners with a true first class section I don’t even bother accumulating their Skypesos.

ruch

i spoke with delta…the 50% promo is still there but they told me that the double points wont posttill after may….is that accurate?

Mark

so what is the best place to redeem Amex points?

sigh

can you believe this “After reviewing the entire content of the Terms & Conditions, we are unable to credit the additional 30% mileage bonus promotion to your Delta SkyMiles account. Within the last paragraph of the promotion it states “Offers and benefits subject to change without notice”. Therefore, while we would like to offer special consideration in cases such as yours, we are unable to honor the similar requests that we receive from others. We follow a consistent policy to ensure that we are fair to everyone who travels with us. Accordingly, we must respectfully decline your request. We apologize for the inconvenience”

Dan

@sigh:
Oh, so they need cheat everyone equally?
BOYCOTT DELTA!!!
And write to AMEX, your state’s attorney general, the Georgia attorney general (Google that for complaint forms), and to the US DOT: http://airconsumer.dot.gov/problems.htm

Eddie

a friend on mine has 390,000 MR points he wants to sell. I was thinking of buying 100,000 and transferring them to delta to at least get the 150,000 miles, maybe even 180,000. I just registered for both the 50% and 30% promo this week. Any chance I will get the 30% also or should i even not bother buying the points?

abc

I tried faxing to them requesting the additonal 30% bonus, this is their response.

Dear Mr. Gateway,

Thank you for contacting SkyMiles.

The terms of the 30% promotion did not clearly outline that you couldn’t receive both bonuses. However, The 50% promotion you did receive the bonus miles for does. Please see the link below.
http://dmn.delta.com/offers/getmore/
Under the Terms and Conditions: Bonus Award Information; “Bonus miles and MQM’s will be awarded on a one time basis per qualified member and will not be awarded more than one time per member?”
If you would prefer to receive the 30% bonus, we would have to remove the 25k bonus miles and MQM’s you have already received. Members that did receive both bonuses to their accounts were in error, and this issue has been fixed.

Please accept our apology for the unfavorable impression you received in this instance. We appreciate your selection of Delta and will always consider it a privilege to be of service.

abc

i did sign up in January and still got the denial letter above

Chris

Signed up before January 31 as well.

SB

I just got this email today, weird thing- I received a total of 94,500 miles with this deal. Not sure why I got the extra. In my account history it states that they transferred 15,000 miles today and I got a bonus on top of that of 4500. I guess they gave me a bonus on top of the correction miles.

Thank you for contacting Delta Air Lines.

I have credited your SkyMiles account with the 30% bonus of 15,000 miles for the American  Express Transfer.

If you have any additional questions, concerns, or need further assistance, please let us know.

Everybody is talking about the 30% bonus, how about the 50% bonus points? Do you get those immediately? I spoke to delta and they said that you only get those bonus miles after May 31st. Is that correct? Also, is there a limit to the amount of points you can transfer to get the bonus?

shmuel

I sent the fax to delta and they awarded me the bonus 30% however for my wife originally they said that the terms and conditions state that they cannot be combined and then I sent them the screen shot and they awarded her the 30% but posted it as a membership rewards transfer and therefore she got an additional 30% on that bonus.

Yossi

Yesterday I advised that I have about 150K Amex miles and that I was thinking to convert them to Delta miles and get the 50% additional bonus miles & 25K bonus elite mls. Why did you say that 80K Continental miles are better? I didn’t get what the connection and/or recommendation was?? Please explain. Thanks!

MY FINAL LETTER TO DELTA.
See below 2 of my friends had the same issue and did get their miles credited, I expect you to do the same, I am only asking from Delta to honor their original offer that I had signed up for, which had no limitations on getting both the 30% & the 50% offers, the terms where only changed afterwards, (I have copies of the original offer and the changed offer), I expect you to do the right thing and credit my account with the miles, or else I will file a complaint with the appropriate authorities in addition to the bad press this will bring. Please honor your offer. Thanks

Dear Mr Gateway,

Thank you for contacting Delta Air Lines.

We understand there’s been some confusion surrounding the current
Membership Rewards promotions. We apologize for the inconvenience this
may have caused and we hope to shed light on the promotion terms and
conditions.

The 50% mileage bonus (plus 25,000 MQMs for transfer of 50,000 or more
MR points) offer is not combinable with the 30% mileage bonus offer. The
Terms and Conditions state that ?Members will receive a 50% mileage
bonus on miles transferred in a single transaction from the date you
register through May 31, 2011. which signifies the 50% bonus is only
applicable for a single transaction. Moreover, on the enrollment
confirmation page, we originally had a sentence inviting customers to
register for the 30% offer to receive the bonus on subsequent transfers:
?And if you make additional Membership Rewards(r) points transfers
through
March 31, 2011, register here to receive a 30% on those transfers.?

It was brought to our attention that the terms were confusing, so on
January 28 we added some clarity to the terms. We removed the sentence
from the enrollment confirmation page and added the following sentence
to the terms: ?May not be combined with any other Membership Rewards
offers between January 14 and May 31, 2011.?

Customers eligible for the 50% offer are welcome to register for the 30%
offer to receive bonuses on subsequent transfers.

If you have any additional questions, concerns, or need further
assistance, please let us know.

Sincerely,
Susan Curtis

Thanks for your response, I disagree with you that the 50% promotion
clearly state that you couldn’t receive both bonuses, instead it only
mentions that it will only award this same offer once, but nowhere does
it say that you cannot receive 2 different offers.

In fact I have learned that on 01/31 Delta has updated the terms of the
50% bonus offer and it now says that it can’t be combined with other
promotions!
they just added this line under “bonus award information:” “May not be
combined with any other Membership Rewards offers between January 14 and
May 31, 2011.”
Before 1/31 when I applied for this offer it did not say this! So it
wasn’t clear that you cannot combine 2 promotions.

Please credit my account with the 15,000 miles that are owed to me from
the 30% offer.
Thank you

“MY ORIGINAL LETTER TO DELTA”

To Delta Sky Miles, via fax 404-773-1945 Re; sky miles account # xxxxxxx, Silver Medallion

I have recently signed up for 2 offers from Delta a 50% and 30% bonus (see attached offers) for transferring Membership Reward Points to Delta, I made the transfer from AMEX to my SkyMiles account after registering for both the 30% and 50% bonus, The miles and 50% bonus posted immediately. However, the 30% bonus did not post yet.
I had only made the original transfer based upon the expectation of utilizing both offers because in general SkyMiles are not equal in value to AMEX Membership Reward Points or many other airline programs, the terms did not state that they couldn’t be combined, and I know some of my friends that signed up in January also got both bonus mile offers.
Please credit my account with the 15,000 miles that are owed to me from the 30% offer.
Thank you.

Brandi

I signed up for the 50% promotion for Delta. I booked a business ticket which is 350,000 points which they are holding for two days. Do I have to transfer the full amount of points from AMEX or will 175,000 do?

Dan

@Brandi:
175,000 x 1.5 = 262,500

Brandi

How is this figured out?

Danielz

it seems the promotion does not give you half price. It gives you a 50% bonus.
So if you transfer 100, you get 150, since 50 is 50% of 100.

maxime12

guys whoever did it before jan 31 that delta changed the terms and conditions uve got hope i faxed twice and didnt get any respond then a month later i called and they gave me the answer that its not possible i asked to speak to supervisor and whitin 2 min i got the 15k bonus miles extra based on the assumption that i did the transfer under impresion i will receive 80% bonus miles
