Delta has added a number of new benefits for holders of the Delta Platinum AMEX:

They are listed under April 2009 on the Skymiles integration page.

1. Waived expedite fees on all award tickets.

Delta normally charges the following expedite fees on award tickets:

Redemption 8-20 days prior to departure: $75

Redemption 4-7 days prior to departure: $100

Redemption 3 days or less prior to departure: $150

Effective immediately if you have a Delta Platinum AMEX (or the Delta Reserve AMEX) you are exempt from all expedite fees.

2. Waived partner airline charge on award tickets.

Delta normally charges $25 to redeem miles on a partner airline. Effective immediately if you have a Delta Platinum AMEX (or the Delta Reserve AMEX) you are exempt from the partner airline charge.

3. Companion certificates can now be used online, and older ones requiring phone redemption are no longer subject to a call center fee.

AMEX issues an annual free companion certificate good for travel in the US48 (also good from Hawaii or Alaska to the US48 if you’re account has a Hawaii or Alaska address). These certificates have no blackout dates or minimum fare rules, and can now be used online!

I don’t understand how you figure the 70,000 miles mentioned in the last paragraph.
Isn’t it 90,000?
20,000 signup
10,000 boost
10,000 boost
50,000 miles for the $50,000 that you spend

Isn’t that a total of 90,000 mile at the end of the first year?

@Yankel:
Nice catch!

Is the AMEX Delta Platinum recognized just as the AMEX Platinum? If yes is the answer, why would I want to pay $450/year for the AMEX Platinum…
