A year after I threw out the first pitch before game 7 of the World Series, another DansDeals reader will have the same honor tonight. I wrote about the opportunity to use points to throw out the first pitch several times.
Micah Katz is originally from Atlanta but currently lives in LA. He shares that he’ll have split loyalties tonight as his family is pulling for the Astros after they volunteered to help in Houston in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. He said he’s going to go out to the mound in an ML4.org t-shirt to raise awareness for that charity.
I don’t expect non-sports fans to understand the thrill of walking out to the mound before the biggest baseball game of the year, but the experience can’t possibly be properly described. I’m sure Micah will have the time of his life.
I’ve been writing about the Starwood card since this blog began some 13 years ago, so it’s no surprise that many readers have lots of Starpoints.
And best of all he got a bargain. The first pitch sold for 501K Starpoints this year. Then again this year’s World Series ticket resale market has been much cheaper than last year’s. The seats that SPG gave us last year were reselling for $25,000 each on Stubhub, while they are a fraction of that this year.
As much as I’ve loved flying around the world in crazy first class cabins with suites and showers and staying in stunning overwater bungalows on points earned from playing the mileage game, there’s something special about these memories:
It’s awesome to see DansDeals readers live out their dreams, let’s see how many years in a row we can keep this streak going!
