About a month ago I asked for prayers and wrote about the plight of Michael Goldsmith. The 34 year old father of 2 was in critical condition on a respirator, in a medically-induced coma while battling COVID-19.
While his wife Elana fought desperately to get Remdesivir for Michael, it was ultimately denied. But I wrote a couple of weeks ago about her fight making national news and how Gilead Sciences would finally start donating 1.5 million doses of the promising drug in the battle against COVID-19.
Posters on the DansDeals Forums are like family. We may know each other only by screen name until we meet in person at a DDF DO meetup, but somehow the connections made are significantly stronger than in a Facebook group where people use their real names.
Michael is known as mickeyg on DDF, and he’s the member who found dirt cheap tickets on El Al to Israel back in August 2012, in a deal that quickly went viral.
Tears flowed from my eyes as I saw the video of Michael reunited with his family:
DDF members write awesome trip reports of places they’ve been to, so after learning that Michael was being released to go back home I joked that we expected a full trip report.
I didn’t expect an answer anytime soon, but just 12 minutes later there was mickeyg, saying he’d post a trip report, if only he could remember what happened…
That was certainly cause for celebration in a new DDF thread.
He did share this interview with one of his few memories from the entire ordeal:

According to his family Michael was on Or hydroxy + zinc + Zithromax and later received actemra at the end when we couldnt get the remdesivir for him.
Apparently Dr. Zelenko’s cocktail worked!

Since there are many Ortho Jews on this site, I propose that we demand of ourselves ( and our leaders) an extreme emphasis on health, mostly in the form of diabetes avoidance, obesity avoidance, exercise, etc. These are factors which saved many people, and the obverse is sadly true
