Until 07/31 Canadians can get 15,000 bonus Starpoints (instead of just 10,000) for signing up for the Starwood Canada card and spending $1,000 within 3 months.
Of course 20,000 Starpoints transfers into 25,000 (or even 50,000) miles with dozens of airlines and they are also great when used for Starwood hotel stays with redemption options like unrestricted free nights, 5th night free, cash and points, and nights and flights awards.
Canadian Starwood features:
-Earn 1 Starpoint for every $1 in purchases charged to the Card
-$120 annual fee
-Enjoy a Free Weekend Night Award when you reach $40,000 in purchases each year
-Experience Starwood Gold Preferred Guest status when you reach $30,000 in purchases each year
-Canadians can also get 25,000 Membership Rewards points for signing up for a Business Gold card and spending $3,000 in 3 months. The annual fee is waived for the first year. Plus any year that you reach $50K in spending you’ll get a bonus 15K points and if you can reach $100K in spending you’ll get a bonus 25K points.
-Finally, those north of the border can also get 15,000 points for spending $500 on the consumer Gold card in 3 months. The annual fee is also waived for the first year. The card earns 2 points per $1 on flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises, gas, grocery and drugstore purchases and one point for every $1 in card purchases everywhere else.

Of course the American Starwood Consumer card and the Starwood Business card give 10,000 bonus points each for spending $1 and an extra 15,000 bonus points each for spending $5,000 in 6 months. For the US version of the card the annual fee is waived for the first year and is then just $65 (easily made back with all of the AMEX promotions like Small Business Saturday and Link, Like, Live, plus of course retention bonuses) and comes with top-notch warranty protection, purchase protection, and return protection on everything bought on your card, on top of earning valuable Starpoints.

Dan, for the Startwood Consumer, it states that spending $5,000 within the first 6 months will yield you an additional 15,000 points.

Already have a Canadian AMEX SPG card. Does that effect my acceptance for the business card? Can one have both, or will I need to cancel one? My wife had a personal AMEX SPG card and we cancelled after 3 months, will they give her another at this time? Will it effect her credit rating by registering for another card? That’s all the questions for now (LOL)!
