Annual Fee
$795 for the primary card and $0 for additional users.
Signup Bonus Terms
- You can apply for this card even if you have an open Sapphire card.
- You will be told during the application process if you are not eligible for a bonus, and you can cancel the application before your credit is pulled. This will be based on your history of opening and closing cards, spending on cards, etc. You can opt to receive the card without a signup bonus.
There have been reports of getting approved with the signup bonus offer even if you have received a Sapphire bonus within the past 48 months.
This is what the pop-up will look like if you apply but are ineligible for a bonus:
5/24
Some Chase cards are subject to 5/24 restrictions, meaning that you might not be approved if you have been approved for 5 or more consumer credit cards in the past 24 months. Enforcement of 5/24 has been patchy of late and the only way to know if you can get approved is by trying to apply.
It’s unknown if 5/24 restrictions apply to this card.
Note that the Chase system automatically counts cards like authorized user cards and store cards as cards that count towards 5/24, but if you explain to Chase that those cards are merely authorized user cards or store cards they can manually approve you for a new card.
You can check your credit report for free at the federally authorized annualcreditreport.com to check how many accounts are shows as being open in the past 24 months.

Game Changing Points Boost Value
Cardholders receive a value of 1 cent per point on all travel and a value of 1.25-2 cents per point on select airlines and hotels through Chase Travel.
Chase Hotels by The Edit can always be booked with a value of 2 cents each, so that is a positive development for people who redeem points for luxury hotel stays.
This can be a truly incredible value for some redemptions!
You can get a value for 2 cents per point for premium economy, business, and first class tickets on airlines like United, Air Canada, Aer Lingus, Emirates, Singapore, and more!
Personally, I have always received the most value by transferring points to airline or hotel points, but at a value of 2 cents per point, there are some very compelling redemptions!
It also means that if you earn 1.5 to 8 points per dollar on your spending and redeem at a value of 2 cents each, you’l be earning between 3%-16% back!
When searching in Chase Travel, you can filter the results by Points Boost hotels only.
For example, redeeming United to Israel in business class for 2 cents per point is an awesome deal:
Same goes for United Premium Economy to Israel:
Or between Newark and Los Angeles:
2 cents per point value on Air Canada:
2 cents per point value on Emirates:
2 cents per point value on Singapore:
2 cents per point value on Aer Lingus:
Hotels can also be a bargain at a value of 2 cents per point. Those include The Edit collection of hotels and select other hotels. When you book The Edit hotels, you can also stack that with a $250 credit for 2+ night stays every January-June and July-December. You can split the redemption between cash and points to trigger the $250 credit and redeem points at 2 cents each!
Split a Points Boost hotel from The Edit collection with points and cash to get a statement credit:
You can now get a points bargain in Jerusalem:
Or in Hawaii, including points bargains at Four Seasons:
LA has lots of excellent hotel redemptions with Points Boost:
For existing cardholders, points earned prior to October 26, 2025 by grandfathered Sapphire Reserve cardmembers who applied prior to June 23, 2025, can also be redeemed at a value of 1.5 cents per point on all Chase Travel redemptions until October 26, 2027.
For points earned prior to October 26, 2025, grandfathered cardmembers will automatically receive the best offer available, whether it’s Points Boost or 1.5x on Chase Travel, maximizing rewards value for two years!
You’ll want to transfer points earned from other Chase cards or other household members to Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, or Ink Preferred cards before 10/26/25 to retain the added value for 2 years.
Pay Yourself Back
Chase Ultimate Rewards cards allow you to Pay Yourself Back for purchases in rotating categories.
Currently, you can pay yourself back for gas, grocery stores, pet supply stores, vet services, and your annual fee at a rate of 1.25 cents per point through 6/30. Those categories rotate by quarter.
A great feature of the program is that you keep the original points that the purchase earned, even though you paid yourself back for the purchase. That means your points will be worth more than 1.25 cents each!
Cash Back
You can request a direct deposit or a statement credit for your points at a value of 1 cent each, though points are worth much more than that through mileage transfers, Points Boost, or Pay Yourself Back.
Airline And Hotel Transferability
If you or someone in your household has a Chase Sapphire Reserve you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points into valuable airline and hotel mileage currencies.
Priority Pass Lounge Membership
Priority Pass lounge membership allows you to bring 2 guests with you into over 1,300 airport lounges.
Secondary cardholders of this card do not get their own Priority Pass membership.
Air Canada Lounge Access
Primary cardholders, as well as 1 guest, can visit Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges for free when departing from the airport that day on a Star Alliance airline.
Additional guests will cost $59CAD for locations within Canada, $59USD for locations within the U.S., €59EUR for locations within the E.U., and £59GBP for locations within the U.K.
At this time, Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers and their guests are not eligible for access to our Montreal (YUL) Maple Leaf Lounges.
Chase Sapphire Lounge Access
Chase Sapphire lounges are now open in Boston, Hong Kong, JFK, LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, and Washington DC/IAD.
Chase Sapphire lounges in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and more are coming soon.
Sapphire Reserve cardholders can access Sapphire lounges as often as they want via their Saphire Reserve Priority Pass card with 2 guests at no charge. Additional guests cost $27 each and children under 2 are at no charge.
Secondary cardholders of this card do not get their own lounge access.
I have visited the LaGuardia lounge several times, and it’s excellent!
It has everything from a kids lounge:
To an awesome arcade room, equipped with a jukebox, pinball, shuffleboard, and photobooth for complimentary use:
Grab a latte (parve milk substitute options are available), beer, or cocktail from the bar:
Or enjoy a complimentary facial:
Killer Combos
Stacking multiple Ultimate Rewards cards together can supercharge your earnings by getting you more points per dollar while increasing the value of all your points.
Read more about this strategy in depth in this post.
A Chase Bifecta would consist of a household that has the Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve for Business and the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card. The total effective annual fees would be either $95 with Sapphire Preferred or $495 with Sapphire Reserve for Business after accounting for that card’s $300 annual travel credit. With the Sapphire Reserve+Ink Unlimited you would earn 1.5 points per dollar everywhere, 3 points per dollar on advertising, 4 points per dollar on airfare and hotels, and 8 points per dollar on travel booked via Chase. You’ll be able to transfer all of your points into airline miles or hotel points.
If you earn 1.5-8 points per dollar and redeem them at a value of 2 cents each, that’s like earning between 3% and 16% back!
A Chase Trifecta adds a no annual fee card like the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card or Chase Freedom Flex into the mix, so your total effective annual fee will still be $95 or $495. Both of those cards give options to earn a whopping 5 points per dollar in various categories on top of the up to 8 points per dollar that the Sapphire cards offer and the 1.5-5 points per dollar everywhere else with a Freedom, Ink Cash, or Ink Unlimited card.
A Chase Quadfecta would add both the Ink Cash and Chase Freedom Flex on top of a Sapphire card and an Unlimited card, so your total effective annual fee will still be just $95 or $495. The Quadfecta is the sweet spot and allows you to really supercharge your spending everywhere.
A Chase Quinfecta could add the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card to that mix, adding $95 to the annual fee total. This makes sense if you spend money on shipping, social media advertising, or search engine advertising, or if you want free cell phone insurance.
Again, all of these cards don’t need to be in one person’s name. 2 people from the same household can split up the requisite cards that make up the Quinfecta, as they can transfer the Ultimate Rewards points back and forth between themselves freely and they can add each other as an authorized user on their cards!
Airline Transfer Partners
You can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio to:
- United (Star Alliance)
- Air Canada Aeroplan (Star Alliance)
- Singapore (Star Alliance)
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue (Skyteam)
- British Airways (OneWorld)
- Aer Lingus (OneWorld)
- Iberia (OneWorld)
- Qatar (OneWorld, transfer via BA)
- Emirates
- JetBlue
- Southwest
- Virgin Atlantic
Hotel Transfer Partners
You can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio to:
- Hyatt
- IHG
- Marriott
- You can also transfer points to Hilton at a 1:1.5 ratio via Virgin Atlantic
The great thing about Chase Ultimate Rewards is how versatile and valuable they are
The Ink Preferred Card and Sapphire Preferred cards allow you and anyone in your household to transfer Chase points into miles and earns a Points Boost redemption value up to 1.75 cents per point.
The Sapphire Reserve also allows you and anyone in your household to transfer Chase points into miles and earns a Points Boost redemption value up to 2 cents per point.
The Points Boost value is excellent and can mean that a $500 hotel room will cost just 25K points or a $1,000 business class redemption will cost just 50K points. Or you can make your points potentially even more valuable by transferring them into airline miles or hotel points.
- If I want to stay in a 5 star Park Hyatt in the Maldives, Melbourne, NYC, Paris, Sydney, or Tokyo that would cost over $1,000/night, I can instantly transfer 25-40K points to Hyatt to do that, a value of up to 6 cents per point.
- If I need a one-way flight from Cleveland (or Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Montreal, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Toronto, etc) to NYC that can cost $500 each way, I can instantly transfer 9.5K points to Avios to book a short-haul on American with no last minute booking fees. Or if American doesn’t have availability I can instantly transfer 10K points to United for their short-haul award. That’s a value of up to 7 cents per point.
- Air Canada offers one-way short haul awards for just 6K miles. You can also get stopover awards for 5K miles, build round-the-world awards, and get free lap child awards in the US/Canada and bring lap children to anywhere else in the world for just C$25!
- United offers excellent award availability, especially to their cardholders, and awards can be changed or canceled for free.
- If I want to fly in a $30,000 ANA First Class Suite round-trip from the US to Tokyo, I can instantly transfer 145K-170K points to Virgin Atlantic. That’s a value of up to 21 cents per point. You can now redeem one-way awards for half the price as well!
- And thousands of other possibilities from Singapore couples suites to booking Southwest awards with 2 free bags and free cancellations, to stealing 2nd base in middle of an MLB game.
Dan’s quick thoughts:
This card has a very sweet signup bonus if you can manage the $30K in spending over 6 months.
The consumer version of the card has more mainstream benefits like Apple TV+, Apple Music, Stubhub credit, Peloton credit, and Sapphire Tables credit that most people will likely prefer, though others may prefer the Google Workspace, GiftCards.com, and ZipRecruiter credit that the business card has.
If you spend on online advertising or Amazon ads, you’ll probably be fine with the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, which earns 3x points on up to $150K spending per year, though if you do a lot more advertising, the Sapphire Reserve for Business will gain the advantage as there’s no earnings cap!
I do wish there were more unique categories to make it potentially worth having the consumer and business Sapphire Reserve. As it stands now, it’s not particularly compelling to have both cards.
The 2 cents per point value you can receive via Points Boost are pretty sweet though. It can be a real game changer if you can take advantage of redemptions at 2 cents each!
That means if you have an Ink Unlimited Card or Freedom Unlimited earning 1.5 points per dollar everywhere or Ink Cash Card earning up to 5 points per dollar and a Sapphire Reserve earning up to 8 points per dollar and redeem them at a value of 2 cents each, that’s like earning between 3% and 16% back everywhere!

We still haven’t seen what benefits the authorized user will also receive. Any ideas on this card or the consumer card what benefits the authorized user get?
On the consumer card, AUs get lounge access.
On the business card, AUs do not get lounge access.
is the points boost on the reserve better then the preferred?
Yes.
a half point difference or random?
one notch up, so if reserve gets 1.75 preferred receives 1.5
Aweful signup bonus. 30,000 points in 5% categories with chase Ink woul give you 150,000 points so the net gain is only (50k + 1 point per dollar) = 80k point signup bonus for a crazy high annual fee. Spending Ink in 5% categories is more worth it then this.
Not really a fair comparison as that requires spending on 5x categories and this is valid on everything
Plus, 5x categories are limited to $25K/year on Ink Cash for example.
Can one hold a personal sapphire card and still apply for this business sapphire and get the bonus?
Can someone product change an ink card to this?
Yes.
Try and let us know, but there’s no signup bonus for a product change.
Tried changing from an ink and was told it is only for new cards.
Say you earn the 200k bonus in 6 months. Then transfer to existing reserve card personal (opened prior to yesterday), will you get the grandfathered 1.5 or better on redemption or 1 percent or better under new card redeem rate after transfer these to other reserve older card?
The grandfathered Reserve card will be the best of both worlds through 10/26/27. You can transfer points there through 10/25/25 to take advantage of that.
@Dan Is this confirmed? I would apply for the new Biz SR 200K offer, but will those points (after transferring to grandfathered Personal SR) be considered “grandfathered points” eligible for 1.5, or “new points” ineligible? The language seems unclear about transferring “new points” to a grandfathered SR.
They will be grandfathered.
I was under the impression that they tell you if you are approved before they pull your credit. Like Amex does
I applied, they pulled my credit and said they will get back to me if approved.
@Dan I think you should be more clear about this.
No, they tell you if you are eligible for the bonus before they pull the credit. They don’t tell you if you’re approved.
More like they tell you if you’re NOT eligible, but same idea
I BH just got approved. This will be my fourth Chase business card this year, after they called me to verify that I applied, which was kinda weird. I generally don’t spend much more on the cards than the welcome bonus requires, so I guess they aren’t strict about that.
@dan I waited for your link to apply…
Congrats and thanks!
The Title of the application page states, “The card for business owners who prefer to pay their balance in full each month and want access to powerful spend potential and premium benefits.”
For business owners, this has some good potential as chase doesn’t get anywhere close to the Amex spending allowance, so a Visa with “powerful” spend could bring Chase back on the table
Curious what available credit people get
Applied, awaiting approval iyh
True, good luck!
@dan- can you get this and cancel after a year and as long as you still have personal one keep the points- if so it worth paying taxes on this one
Yes.
Why should one apply for the personal only 100k vs the business for 200k?
Personal requires $5K spend in 3 months.
Business requires $30K spend in 6 months.
Thank you, Wow Missed that.
Do you have a chart that compares the personal vs biz benefits? also vs the pre-refesh?
Sounds like a good idea for a future post. 🙂
Is it worth dumping AMEX Business Plat for this card? Thank you.
You might want to wait for the platinum refresh
Dan
When I enter my personal info on top, can i put my EIN instead of the ss#?
So should I cancel my reserve at time of renewal and get this business one just for the bonus? I wud definitely not keep both
Just for the bonus?
This card has two distinct credit lines, a flexible pay-in-full line and a regular credit line that can be paid over time.
will they let the card being charged over the limit by far?
It seems like it will, but we’ll have to wait for more data points.
If search engine advertising includes Amazon, the business version of this card would work a lot better for me, otherwise it’s mostly a dud for bonus spend, and I would get the personal version for the perks.
It does include that and other online advertising:
https://www.reddit.com/r/FulfillmentByAmazon/comments/5mdj4l/chase_ink_preferred_amazon_ppc/
Good point, I actually have the Ink biz preferred, and I see Chase uses the same language for both card – “advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines”. Amazon ad spend works for Ink, so it should definitely be eligible for Biz Reserve.
Can you use a business card for personal income taxes at 1.85%? I was told business cards pay 3%?
Yes, click through to the linked post for details.
I got declined because of 5/24
What did it say and when?
Thanks for the DP.
Does it make sense to apply for this one and downgrade my personal preferred?
If you downgrade your preferred you will lose the 1.25 cpp value of your current points
why is 237000 miles for a 1 way business class seat to tel aviv a awesome deal.It is if you were going to buy a ticket for 4000 dollars but its 3 times the saver rate
237k is for roundtrip
Reading is hard. 😉
The 48 month rule applies to the new business reserve if you received personal saphire bonus within 48 mo?
Also – i saw somewhere the edit hotels can be booked stacked with loyalty – like you can add your marriott or hyatt number true?
There is no 48 month rule anymore.
That’s correct, you do earn loyalty benefits and points.
Halevai we should be able to freely travel to Israel and be able to redeem points for those hotels some of which I’ve stayed in past under Amex FHR and loved them! Or rather, halevai moshiach comes now!!
It’s not Halevai. He is coming.
Are you waiting to get the free ride on the magic carpet?
You can get a value for 2 cents per point for premium economy, business, and first class tickets on airlines like United, Air Canada, Aer Lingus, Emirates, Singapore, and more!
Can you always get 2 cents per point on these airlines, or it’s variable and the examples you showed just happen to be currently available at that rate?
No. depends on the class and flight.
I got a personal sapphire reserve Friday,2 days after downgrading my Sapphire preferred. And today I applied for the business card and got it without warning. A lot of spending to do but it’s under control..lol
Now grab the retention offer on Amex as well!
I’m surprised that the St Regis Bal Harbour is not listed as an Edit hotel.
Can I see what has point boost if I do not right now have reserve or preferred?
@dan i just applied to see if i be able to get the bonus and it pulled my credit report without asking first if i want to continue the application ☹️
And what was the outcome?
i got declined im just upset because i understood from the article that it wouldnt pull my credit until i confirm it but it got pulled either way…..
The confirmaiton is for if you are not eligible for the bonus, not if you can’t be approved.
Call reconsideration to try to get approved.
Can I use this Reserve Business for primary rental car coverage for personal vacations/travel, or does car rental need to be specifically for business? Do I specifically need a consumer reserve or preferred card for car rental coverage on personal vacations?
The terms state primarily for business.
Are point boost redemptions in premium economy always .25 less than business?
For The Edit collection of hotels – you say you can stack with a $250 credit for 2+ night stays – but in your example you are showing a reservation for only 1 night. Would you not get the $250 credit then?
Correct, you would need to book 2 nights per the terms. Though I am curious if 1 night might work if anyone wants to test and let us know.
Does the $250 credit go by the stay or when booked? Can i book today for a stay in july using the june credit?
Booked.
Thanks Dan!
guess we get to triple dip on some of these benefits then
gift card too
Moved credit from other cards, closed two cards I don’t use and was approved!
Declined as sole prop
We based our decision on the following reason(s)
. Number of recently opened accounts on consumer credit report . Business structure ◦ Insufficient business deposit relationship with us
That first one was 5/24?
Hey @Dan – any shot you guys are working on a new card earning/points chart? Maybe even one that has side by side for pre-migration and post migration. Gotta be honest… im totally confused right now about what cards to use to maximize spend. Spending seems like its status quo till October, earning… clueless.
Hi, applied and got the “will notify you in 5-7 B.D.”
is it worth calling in? or just wait it out?
if i open up the buisness card, which card can i downgrade it to next year?
just got approved thanks dan
is there a downgrade option from this card?
Dan,
Thanks—I got approved and received the card today. The packaging is impressive—layer after layer just to get to the card. They clearly put a lot of thought into making it feel like a true premium experience. Hopefully, it’ll be a big upgrade from the previous Sapphire consumer card.
Is there a good reason to keep both Business Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred cards?
