The writing for Chase Sapphire Reserve® changes has been on the wall for nearly 8 years.
In 2017, the WSJ reported that Chase was losing a fortune on the newly launched Sapphire Reserve, despite it being a smash hit. Chase hoped to make money over the next 7 years, but today, the bank announced wholesale changes to the card. All of the changes will also affect the JPMorgan Reserve Card.
Table of Contents
Annual fee changes:
Effective 6/23/25, new cardholders will pay a $795 annual fee, that’s up from $550 and up from $450 when the card first launched in 2016.
The annual fee for additional users will go up to $195, up from $75.
Cardholders who applied prior to 6/23/25 will see the higher annual fee on the next renewal that takes place after 10/25/25.
The signup bonus for the relaunched card has not yet been announced.
Signup bonus changes:
Currently, Chase lumps the Sapphire family together, and you can earn the bonus once per 48 months on any Sapphire card. You also can’t get approved for a Sapphire card if you have an existing Sapphire card, though you can upgrade from another card to have multiple Sapphire cards.
Effective 6/23, Chase will allow people to apply for both cards, though they may not receive a signup bonus, depending on their card history with Chase. Similar to AMEX, you will find out during the application process, before submitting the application for final approval, if you will qualify for a signup bonus.
Factors can include bonus history, opening and closing cards history, how often you spend on your cards, etc.
Chase will also increase the wait period from 48 months, though it’s not yet known what it will go up to, and that information may not be published, as you will be told during the application process if you won’t get the bonus.
What’s improving:
Effective 6/23/25 for new cardholders or 10/26/25 for existing cardholders, these features will be added:
- Cardholders will receive Apple TV+ and Apple Music subscriptions, a $250 annual value.
- Cardholders will receive a $150 Stubhub or viagogo credit on concert and event tickets every January-June and every July-December, a $300 annual value.
- Cardholders will receive a $250 Chase Hotels by The Edit credit on 2+ night hotel stays every January-June and every July-December, a $500 annual value.
- Cardholders will receive a $150 Sapphire Tables credit every January-June and every July-December, a $300 annual value. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be any available kosher restaurants at this time.
- Cardholders will receive a $10 monthly credit to Peloton membership fees, $120 annual value.
- Cardholders will receive IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite Status through 12/31/27.
- Cardholders will receive complimentary access to Reserve Travel Designers with end-to-end travel planning from custom itinerary to trip support. Chase says this personalized service is worth $300 per trip.
What’s staying the same:
- The card will retain the $300 annual travel credit per cardmember year, which remains valid on all travel.
- Triple points on all dining.
- Lounge access remains unchanged, so primary and additional cardholders will continue to receive Chase Sapphire Lounge and Priority Pass lounge access with 2 free guests. It also retains Air Canada Maple Leaf lounge access.
- Cardholders can continue transferring points to airlines and hotels at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cardholders will continue to have access to premium purchase and travel protections.
- Cardholders will retain Global Entry, Nexus, or PreCheck credits every 4 years.
- Cardholders will continue to receive $10 in monthly Lyft credits and 5 points per dollar on Lyft through 9/30/27.
- Cardholders will continue to receive $5 in monthly Doordash restaurant credit, a $60 annual value.
- Cardholders will continue to receive two $10 monthly Doordash non-restaurant credits, a $240 annual value.
- Cardholders will continue to receive Doordash DashPass, a $120 annual value.
Earning rewards changes, for the better and for the worse:
Effective 6/23/25 for new cardholders or 10/26/25 for existing cardholders, these features will be changed:
Currently, the card offers 3 points per dollar on all travel, including airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, subways, trains, taxis, tolls, parking, Airbnb, Uber, etc.
The new card will offer 4 points per dollar on flights and hotels, but the other travel categories will only earn 1 point per dollar.
All purchases made via Chase Travel will earn 8 points per dollar, including airfare, hotels, car rentals, activities, and the soon to be launched vacation rental platform. That’s up from 5 points on airfare and 3 points on other Chase Travel, but down from 10 points on other hotels and car rentals booked via Chase Travel.
Redemption devaluation and dynamic pricing boost:
Point redemptions will go dynamic, with Points Boost. Instead of a flat value of 1.5 cents per point, cardholders will receive a value of 1 cent per point on all travel and a value of 1.25-2 cents per point on select airlines and hotels through Chase Travel.
Chase Hotels by The Edit can always be booked with a value of 2 cents each, so that will be a positive development for people who redeem points for luxury hotel stays.
For existing cardholders, points earned prior to October 26, 2025 by Sapphire Reserve cardmembers who applied prior to June 23, 2025 can be redeemed at 1.5x on Chase Travel until October 26, 2027.
For points earned prior to October 26, 2025, cardmembers will automatically receive the best offer available, whether it’s Points Boost or 1.5x on Chase Travel, maximizing rewards value for two years.
A similar change will be made to the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, with the current value of 1.25 cents per point being cut to 1 cent, but with Points Boost offers from 1.25-1.75 cents per point.
You’ll want to transfer points earned from other Chase cards or other household members to Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, or Ink Preferred cards before 10/26/25 to retain the added value for 2 years.
Annual spend threshold benefits:
Starting with all spend in 2025, you will earn these bonuses if you spend $75K in a calendar year on Sapphire Reserve:
- IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite Status
- Southwest Airlines® A-List Status
- $500 Southwest Airlines credit when booked through Chase Travel
- $250 credit to The Shops at Chase, a new online shopping experience designed exclusively for cardmembers allowing them to shop for brands including Dyson, Sony, Therabody and Tumi, with rotating promotions, using their ultimate rewards points or their card to pay.
Dan’s quick thoughts:
Coupon books are all the rage these days. AMEX started it, and the model proved to be wildly successful, so love itor hate it, it’s no surprise to see more cards adopt the coupon book.
Chase started things off with the major United card changes, and that too has proven wildly successful, so other cards are now getting the same treatment.
Most people will likely be worse off with these changes, but people who already spend on the new benefits or can take advantage of the new benefits may come out ahead.
Either way, you’ll need to stay on top of things more than ever to ensure you are getting a good value for your annual fee.
For people who don’t want to deal with the full coupon book, Sapphire Preferred remains a bargain at a $95 annual fee and allows you to transfer your points to airlines and hotels.
The loss of the 50% bonus on all Chase Travel redemptions is what really stings here, though at least we have more than 2 years to take advantage of the old redemption bonus. Plus the potential of redemptions up to 2 cents per point could end up being an incredible value.
That being said, Chase has turned a no-brainer simple value proposition into a far murkier and more confusing one. For people firmly in the Chase ecosystem, it may cause them to reevaluate their card portfolio and spending habits.
Chase will also move to the AMEX model of card approvals, with a notice during the application if you will not qualify for a bonus.
If you don’t yet have a Sapphire Reserve card, consider opening one or upgrading to one before the 23rd to take advantage of the $550 annual fee, the new benefits, the current signup rules, and the higher point redemption values through 10/25/27.
Chase is also launching a Sapphire Business card on 6/23, I’ll share my thoughts on that card soon.
What do you think of these changes? Will you keep or cancel your card?

The main issue is the loss of the 1.5% on travel points redemption. With the added annual fee it will probably be no longer worth it for me to have this card.
Yup, it stinks. But we’ll have to see what the Points Boost looks like to know more.
On ddf it said salt in nj is a kosher option fyi
I don’t see that on Sapphire Tables.
There’s 2 kosher restaurants that show up on the search located in lakewood. Agripas street and char q
Horrible! The main benefit to having the Reserve was the 1.5x value. That’s takes away the niche or this card. Who needs all the extra perks. The whole idea of this card was for frequent travelers, and the revamp kills the desire to have it for traveling purposes. I am fully involved in Chase, I don’t really have another great card but I’m seriously considering downgrading to the preferred and perhaps switching to the venture x. Especially with the new annual fee and increase for the authorized user, that’s essentially $1,000 a year for a couple!!
Dan, do you know if existing users who didn’t get the signup bonus within the the past 48 months at minimum of the reserve will be able to get the signup bonus, assuming it’s anything substantial.
As of 6/23, it will depend on the pop-up and your history with Chase.
You’ll have to apply before 6/23 to get the straightforward 48 month rule.
Makes sense. Guess we’ll find out as it rolls out. Thanks
My renewal is 11/1
So ill be hit with the new high fee pretty quickly
Definitely not worth to hold the card for me
Question is, should I downgrade 11/1 or with the higher point value, is it still worth it to keep for longer?
Depends on how you value the coupons and how many points you redeem.
Maybe try calling some time in September and asking if your renewal can be pushed up, and let us know if they allow it?
Dan, I’ll probably end up downgrading as the new fee is def not worth it for me. Can you please write an article about a whole alternative to the Chase family for all general expenses? Iit would probably make sense to move away from Freedom, Flex, etc, as well. Unless these are worth it with the Preferred card still?
He has write-ups on all 3 major ecosystems (Chase, Citi, AMEX – Cap One is basically just 1 card). Just search his older posts for Citi/Amex bifectas and trifectas.
Dan did a write up on the BofA preferred rewards flat 2.65/3.5/5.25 cash back setup
I wonder if more people will be into that as CCs get hit like this
my card renewal date is september 1 so it seems to be reasonable to get renewed then at the old price and decide on renewing or cancelling prior to September 2026?
Yes. Good timing for you!
have the same date, so that’s pretty sweet!
Can I assume that I’ll be able to match to the higher offer if I apply pre 6/23? I’m assuming the signup bonus will go up.
YMMV
If you cancel the Sapphire Reserve upon your next renewal, can you maintain the 1.5 travel redemption for the 2 years?
No
Citi Strata is looking very good at this point.. X3 on Air Travel, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Gas & EV. Solid categories
Sure is.
And add with Citi Prestige for 2x 4th night free and 5x at restaurants plus ATT access more with 3x online purchases and I think it’s a much better value these days. I’m trying to accumulate as many TYP in anticipation of AA as potential partner.
Hi Dan,
I had the reserve many years ago, downgraded to the freedom so I could get the preferred.
If I currently have the preferred, do I need to Product change that to get this one? If I am planning a big family trip that is a cruise (lots of saved chase points), do those also redeem at one and a half cents per point on reserve or preferred?—Assuming that I get this card by the 23rd? Thinking of booking a cruise with points. Thanks!
When did you get your last Sapphire bonus?
9/2021 on the preferred. 100k earned in 2nd month after signup.
Your deadline is June 23, less than a week away.
You can apply for a new S Reserve but I think you won’t be approved because you have a Sapphire, but if you are, you’ll get the old terms. And get 1.5 value. If you’re not approved, do a product change from your Preferred to Reserve to get that value for the next 2 years.
Thanks! will do, and with your link going in, at start, they will tell me if I’m eligible, before they hit credit report check?
Thanks ckmk47 — okay, I just applied at the link.. looks like they see I have a preferred – so gave me this after applying –
“Thanks for applying, DavidThanks for applying, (my name)
We’re unable to approve your application because you already have a Chase Sapphire® credit card.”
Now, is there Any downside to downgrade my preferred to something non sapphire and then reapply at the link? –
Does the downgrade take a couple of days to reflect before I should reapply to the reserve?
Would I somehow be harming myself because other cards don’t have as many transfer options to my future new Reserve by downgrading preferred card if for some reason they don’t approve me on the reserve before the 23rd, etc.? (I do have a couple ink preferred, bus and regular chase unlimited, etc.)
Thanks!
I don’t understand all this kvetching about 1.5% this, 1.25% that. With dynamic travel pricing now the norm, why not opt for the many no-fee cards that give you at least 2% cash, straight-up, and no categories to keep track of?
(I even get 3% cashback, no limits, no categories)
Many people get 5x chase points, and may have accumulated millions of points.
The CSR made all those points 50 percent more valuable.
BTW, how do you get 3% back on everything?
same question. Would love to know how you get 3% cash back on everything?
Must be using BoA or US Bank with the boosts.
Got a PayPal Cashback MC. All purchases using that card through the Pay by PayPal button (even in-store, where available) get 3% cashback. Everything else is unlimited 1.5% cashback (which is also not bad, but it was unlimited 2% until recently and there are other cards that give unlimited 2% cashback).
Regarding the new Points Boost feature, is it known if specific airlines will get the higher redemption rate or is it going to be dynamic and change from time to time?
TBD
So I’d normally skip getting it until there was a gif enough sign up bonus (I’m seeing 60k, which is way less than than far wise less expensive cards), but if we don’t sign up before the 23rd then we can’t double point spending? I’m confused by that point, because if that’s right then it’s imperative to get the card and use the points within the next two years, right?
Need to sign up before 6/23 to keep the bonus value for over 2 years.
if i opened the preferred less then 48 months ago and the downgraded it to a freedom will i be eligible for a bonus? and is it better to upgrade from freedom or apply for a new card?
Under the current rules, you can only get the card by upgrading.
will upgrading get me the 60 k bonus?
No
Dan what happens with the jpmorgan reserve
See the opening paragraph 🙂
I guess for people paying Apple One instead of Apple Music and Apple TV+ separately can’t take advantage of the $250 credit. Bummer.. no go for me
Meaning same exact changes?
Will definitely not renew after the annual price increase.
Any idea on the same benefits (or different) for the JP Morgan Reserve?
See the opening paragraph 🙂
Any points previously earned on saphire reserve are eligible for 1.5 conversion for 2 years.what about points earned on other cards and transferred to saphire reserve do they also get 2 years
Yes, if they’re transferred before 10/26.
Two questions
Will Chase still provide travel insurance on booked cruises.
What is cut off date for paying for a cruise and still get 3 points per dollar. This is a big hit when paying $20,000.00 for a cruise.
Also, if I add my wife as a extra user before 6/23 will she be charged the lower amount.
I agree that the problem here is the loss of the 1.5 points for redemptions on the Chase Travel portal.
Question though — what if you apply for a Chase Ink card after June 23 and transfer any welcome bonus points to your CSR prior to Oct 27. Would those count as 1.5c value points or do these transfers/earnings have to be purchases based points?
They would.
I’m confused if i apply now when will I be charged the new annual fee? Right after 10/25/25 or ina year from now?
Your next annual fee after that date.
I opened a Sapphire Preferred on July 03 2021.
Can I get the bonus again if I apply today?
No
if i apply 6/23 and get my card prior to july 1st, can i get the jan-june credits for this year
Yes
Other bloggers (DOC etc) say that grandfathered sapphire holders will only get NEW benefits starting October 25th
That’s what the post says
Was good while it lasted.
I have 500,000 points but currently no CSR. Should I sign up for a CSR now and transfer all points to it to lock in 1.5% redemption value for a few years?
Can certainly make sense.
only if you book through the chase portal. if your someone that transfers everything out to other partners, it wouldn’t make sense.
I have been with CSR since it came out BUT this is a NO GO for me. Who needs Appel TV (if you have it already or on a family plan) the events thing and tables ??? Seriously?? This is a SCAM !!
Dan, can you plz make a table between this and Amex platinum. I think it’s worthwhile switching . Thanx!
Amex just put out a notice that they are making major changes to the Platinum cards later this year (likely as a response to, and in line with, these changes). They haven’t announced what they are at all yet, but don’t hold your breath for any major improvements.
Maybe they are finally going to take that leap and roll out the daily/hourly coupon book people have been absolutely clamoring for.
Does global entry have to match cardholder or can it be used for a different family member?
Anyone.
Is it worth waiting to get the sign up bonus? or bite the bullet and sign up now?
Depends on how much you value having more than 2 years of 50% bonus value on redemptions and if you want to roll the dice on the new signup bonus rules.
Does anyone know when the rumored Citi Strata Elite card is supposed to be released? I have a gut feeling that it might be an attractive alternative to the CSR….
Does the new sign up bonus rules affect or apply to other chase cards or only sapphire?
Just Sapphire for now.
Under the new rules that I can get both sapphire cards, will I be able to receive separate sign up bonuses as well or are the bonuses still somewhat linked?
TBD. On 6/23 we’ll know more based on data points from people who tried.
Aeroplan anyone?
Can someone please clarify for me —
the 1.5 points for redemptions on the Chase Travel portal is fully going away? Or only if you decide to not keep the card after the annual fee goes up?
Not following the question, but read this again and see if it makes sense?
https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/chase-will-completely-overhaul-the-sapphire-reserve-and-its-value-proposition-heres-what-you-need-to-know-and-why-you-may-want-to-signup-asap/#Redemption_devaluation_and_dynamic_pricing_boost
For people who have the card from before 6/23, all points in the Reserve by 10/26/25, get the 1.5 value until 10/26/27.
If you choose to cancel your card prior to that date, you lose the 1.5.
If you get a new card 6/24 and later, you don’t get the 1.5 at all.
Not a single item from this coupon book is appealing to me, let alone justifying the $795 AF. Not earning 3x on all travel is another major devaluation. Never had such an easy decision to make with closing a card. Bye bye CSR!
So True!
But better to downgrade and not close. Also you still have your points until 2027 so better wait with closing/downgrading. Also Moshiach is probably here already (look at whats going on) maybe this whole thing wont be nogeah by 2027
@Dan
so i’m eligible to apply to a new Sapphire REserved card if I downgrade my Preferred card – which i just did.
i have a >1M points so I’d love to sneak in the reserved under the old terms.
How long should I wait to apply? (obviousy by the 6/23)
A few days. Good luck!
Approved today!!! thanks Dan..
You’ll excuse me but the tradeoff of coupon books for straight cashback or high-value redemptions is basically meant to provide percieved value (i.e. people will think they’re getting all these perks, but never actually use as many of them as they anticipated) rather than real value. No 1.5 and another $250 a year? I’m out.
Anyone already counting the days until the Sapphire Preferred also goes off the deep end?
Can the priority pass perk be used for anyone or does it have to ne for the cardholder? (I have been able to use the venture x to get priority pass for someone else)
They’re upping the fee by 250$ but adding over 1500$ in coupons
If all benefits are used for 800$ u get over 2000$
I got my last sapphire bonus 6/22/21.. OMG not sure what to do
😀
There will no longer be 3x points on Restaurants?
There will be.
Can’t you just get that from the unlimited freedom card?
Yes
I am going to wait and see what the sign-up bonus will be. 125k or better is what I expect due to the high annual fee.
Don’t forget to calculate the loss of points value and new bonus rules if you wait.
I assume many readers are married so if you upgrade the family member that is within 48 months now then you can wait for the signup bonus for the spouse and really maximize.
i just got saphire preffered and cant upgrade for 1 year. can i upgrade a freedom unlimited to a reserve while haveing a saphire preffered?
Yes
I wish the 100k bonus offer for the Preferred was still available
@Dan we were all waiting for your take! Thank you, any insight for someone holding the reserve when do they get the new benefits?
Thanks. Effective dates should all be in the post.
“Chase started things off with the major United card changes, and that too has proven wildly successful”
Why do you say that the changes on the United card changes are wildly successful?
That’s what I heard from contacts in the know.
90% it was because of the signup bonus LOL……
Definitely cancelling this card
I got my reserve bonus around 2017 than 2021/2
I change it to freedom,I’m also authorized with my wife on preferred card from 2022/3 I will get the sign up bonus if I apply now to the csr?
Also better to take the 60k now or wait a week and see?
Need to wait 48 months from the last bonus under current rules.
If I’m authorized user on preferred (2022) is still 48 rules?or I will get
Being an AU doesn’t hinder a bonus.
Thanks
Hi Dan,
Great clear post. Even if the news is rough.
I currently have the preferred. Signed up Sep 2021.
If I am planning on booking about $10k worth of cruise spend via chase points in the next 6 months.
Would it be wise to product change one of my other chase cards or preferred card to reserve to get the extra redemption value (sounds like above if I do it before 6/23 above I’d get 1.5 per point vs my current preferred 1.25 for the next 2 years?). Thoughts. I have about 1 mil chase points. Sounds like an extra “$2,500” in value minus the 550 annual fee.
Other benefits on reserve are so so to me so likely I’d do that for a year only. Also would they charge me the $550 upon change before 6/23 or pro rate difference of sapphire preferred fee already paid if I change that one.
Thank you.
Thank you, as always amazing advice, thoughts and posts!
Thanks!
Sure, makes sense to me. Should be pro-rated.
I think the biggest loss is the introduction of the 48mo+ restriction for other cards as well that will likely mean no more serial Ink card bonuses
If I apply or Product change a Chase card into this card before the 23rd, our points earned up until October 26 still grandfathered in to redeem 1.5 for the next two years? Or just the points that are transferred in under the account before June 23?
Is there any reason to keep the preferred or should that be the card that I product change into the reserve I am planning a redemption of over 500,000 points in the next year thanks.
Until October 26.
You don’t need CSP and CSR.
Thanks!
If I product change my Sp to SR before 23rd do all future/new points accrued though Oct 26 2025 (or Oct 2027) also get the 1.5 or better redemption rate as well as points already on hand?
Oct 26 2025
Thanks Dan!
With the $75k in spending bonus counting all of 2025 spending, if you hit the spending amount already, will the extra benefits have to wait for Oct?
That’s my understanding.
personally I will be liquidating my 1.5 M points and closing my card. I am sure i am not alone. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. bye bye chase
I don’t know if I would liquidate the points, you still want to have them available if something pops up, but definitely agree with the sentiment. I don’t need to pay $800 for a coupon book to stores I never use. Lshana Haba B’Preferred.
Any posts discussing CapOne and Citi? I have been with Chase since forever.
Sure, just search on this site for all of them. 🙂
I really don’t understand all these people who redeem their points at Chase Travel for 1.5x and are excited about it. This is a perfect example of marketing by a bank fooling people.
If you value points at 1.5 cents you should be spending money elsewhere and earning at least 2 cents a point.
On the bright side, less booking with Chase Travel will cut down on the dansdeals facebook posts saying “I booked my flight with Chase Travel and now the airline won’t help me – what do I do”
Trifecta, quadfecta… most of the spend is not on CSR
#1Not everyone is savvy when it comes to transferring to miles
#2 Many people are earning 5 points on their freedom and ink cards plus 3 points from other cards such as shipping restaurants etc.
#3 Not everyone has status with airlines So they are booking standard tickets with dynamic pricing comes out cheaper with a 1.5 redemption
Practical question – after October 26, when transferring points to airlines will they allow us to designate “post-October 26” points for the transfer so that we can hold on to the 1.5 value points or will they use FIFO?
Speculative question – with the value of points being written down on Chase’s balance sheet, I wonder if they’ll reduce transfer bonuses?
Re: Speculative question:
A) Not the way accounting works. CC points are an expense/liability to the bank, not an asset, and they don’t get to decrease their liabilities because some people could *potentially* be cashing them in at a lower rate.
B) What do transfer bonuses have to do with the value of points on Chase’s balance sheet?
I did not see any mention to the “Pay yourself back” program when using rewards.
If I downgrade to preferred and I want to have the 1.25% on travel, do i have to do the downgrade before 6/23, or do I have till October?
a question dan, if i have points across multiple chase cards, will i still be able to get the 1.5 redemption if at any point transfer them to reserve or it has to be done before october that i have to move everything to reserve
I really don’t see a reason to open it before the 23rd i feel like its misleading…
There will most probably be a much higher SUB then 60k plus the benefits will kick in now vs in oct, if you apply b4 23rd it will cut out the entire summer which you can potentially use the coupons…
So as long as the SUB is worth more then 250$ which is what the annual fee would differ im in the green..
Idk i would wait and see the offer..
I also wont use the 1.5 for travel rather I transfer to airlines so YMMV !!
I can’t be bothered to waste my time figuring it all out. Losing the fixed 50% bump is an absolute deal breaker, especially with the ever higher fees.
Potentially to great value on Edit stays if you do a mix of cash and chase points. Effectively a 2x redemption with a $250 discount
Is there any other card that offers comparable travel insurance and car rental benefits (Primary coverage)?
I’m not really so card savvy… I have two freedoms, a preferred, and a reserve card (all for several years). Should I move all the points from the other cards to my reserve card asap?? That way I can at least keep the 1.5 redemption value for another two years??
Yes
And please confirm that the deadline to move the points is October 26, 2025 and not June 23, 2025. Correct?? And thank you again!
Hi Dan just off the phone with chase converting my Csp to csr (earned csp bonus 8/2021).
They are just learning about the changes (operator). She was checking with them internally and on he her notes saying something about csr downgrades to csp maintain 1.25 but nothing in her notes say upwards from csp to csr gives you a hold on 1.5 rate. Even before 6/23. Are you certain on this Dan? Thanks.
I did product change because they said you have a window to reverse product change within 57 days. Thank you!
Yes.
Thank you Dan. Much appreciated. So glad I did this. With a trip in the next 12 months at likely over 500k points you saved me and others a lot of value here.
I am thinking of downgrading my SR to the SP as I don’t think I want to deal with the coupon book. When is a good time to do so? At my renewal date in march or before that? Will combine points within household still be allowed? Thank you
My wife has lots of points but I’m the one with the sapphire reserve, do I have to transfer it by tonight or I get till October to transfer and keep the 1.5 redemption for two years?
Regarding the Sapphire Reserve – So, do the new Lyft ($150) and StubHub ($300) annual credits work just like the current annual $300 travel credit? If so, then spending $150 on Lyft over the course of the year and then purchasing sports or concert tickets worth $300 via StubHub together reduces the annual fee from $795 to $45? Am I understanding correctly? Also Apple TV and Apple Music are just free? That is they are included for everyone with the Sapphire Reserve – meaning you do not pay for it and then receive a credit?
Zero blogs are discussing the deafening silence on 1.25 Q3 pay yourself back categories. I have to assume Chase is behind that and this feature is dead. Will know for sure shortly
Could I book United Business class with the points boost at 2 cents per point, and then cancel for voucher, and rebook economy class?
If correct, that would effectively open an option to redeeming all chase points on any United or future points boost airline, at 2x.
