Signup bonus:
The Chase Ink Preferred Card is offering a record-high signup bonus of 120,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for opening the card and spending $8,000 in 3 months.
Those points are worth a minimum of $1,200 cash back or $1,500 towards paid travel, but they can be worth much more. For example, if you or anyone in your household has a Chase Sapphire Reserve®, you’ll be able to use 120K points for $1,800 of travel. Or transfer over to airline miles or hotel points for even higher values!
Previously this card required as much as $15,000 in spending to earn a lower signup bonus!
No card has ever offered this many Chase Ultimate Rewards points for signing up! Currently, the next closest is the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card at $750 cash back in the form of 75,000 points for spending $6,000 in 3 months and the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card at $350 in the form of 35,000 Chase Ultimate points for spending $3,000 in 3 months and another $400 in the form of 40,000 Chase Ultimate points for spending another $3,000 in 6 months for a total of 75,000 Chase Ultimate points.
Annual fee:
There is a $95 annual fee for the primary card and no annual fee for additional cardholders.
How to apply, Business card and 5/24 info:
This is a business card, but you may already have a business that needs a card to keep track of expenses. For example if your name is Joe Smith and you sell items online, or if you have any other side business and want a credit card to better keep track of business expenditures you can open a business credit card for “Joe Smith” as the business. You don’t need to file any messy government paperwork to be allowed to do that. Just be sure to select “Sole Proprietorship” as the business type and then switch the Tax Identification field from Employer Identification number to social security number and use your personal social security number.
If you have business paperwork you can apply under your business name. Otherwise, it’s critical to just write your own name as the business name if you are just applying for your own small business as a Sole Proprietorship that doesn’t have any business paperwork. You can then send in bills in your own name for verification.
If you’re like me and you run more than one business, you can signup for multiple of the same card for each business to manage each businesses expenses separately.
Some Chase cards are subject to 5/24 restrictions, meaning that you might not be approved if you have been approved for 5 or more consumer credit cards in the past 24 months. Enforcement of 5/24 has been patchy for the past year and the only way to know if you can get approved is by trying to apply.
However, a pattern has developed where Chase often waives 5/24 rules when they launch a new offer like this, so it can be worth trying, even if you are over 5/24. If you try, be sure to leave a comment with the results!
Note that the Chase system automatically counts cards like authorized user cards and store cards as cards that count towards 5/24, but if you explain to Chase that those cards are merely authorized user cards or store cards they can manually approve you for a new card.
You can check your credit report for free at the federally authorized annualcreditreport.com to check how many accounts are shows as being open in the past 24 months.
It’s important to note that business cards from most banks, including Chase business cards, do not get added to your 5/24 count of recently opened cards. That’s because business cards from most banks don’t show up on your personal credit report and the 5/24 count is based off of your personal credit report. That means that applying for these cards won’t “hurt” your 5/24 count.
Another benefit of the card not reporting on your personal credit report is that when you spend money on personal cards your credit score will be hurt even if you pay your bill on time. A whopping 30% of your credit score is based on credit utilization. You can pay off your card bill before your statement is generated to avoid that, but that takes effort and laying out money well before you have to. Additionally it’s good to have the statement close with a couple dollars to show the card is active and being paid every month. On an business cards from banks like AMEX and Chase it’s just not reported, so you can wait until the money is due without it having a negative effect on your score. That also means if you close the card, it won’t have an effect on your credit score.
Card earnings:
- 3 points per dollar on travel, including airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, subways, trains, taxis, tolls, parking, Airbnb, Uber, etc.
- 3 points per dollar on internet, cable, and phone services. This includes streaming services like Netflix and more.
- 3 points per dollar on shipping purchases.
- 3 points per dollar on search engine and social media advertising.
- Max of $150,000 of annual spending in 3x bonus categories.
- 5 points per dollar on Lyft through 3/31/25.
- 1 point per dollar elsewhere.
- There are no foreign transaction fees.
Spend Threshold:
You’ll need to spend $8,000 on this card within 3 months.
You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.82% fee.
My local natural gas company allows me to prepay up to $1,000 on a credit card for a $1.65 flat fee. That’s a great way to earn miles and help meet a spend threshold. My electricity supplier allows me to pay with a credit card for free as long as I am enrolled in autopay.
Cell Phone Protection:
If you pay your cell phone bill on the card you cell phone will be insured from damage, theft, or involuntary and accidental parting until the end of the calendar month following the payment.
This benefit covers claims up to $1,000 and there is a $100 deductible for claims. You do not need to pay for the phone on this card to file a claim.
You can file up to 3 claims per 12 month period.
This card offers triple points for cell phone bills, making it a good value for your monthly bill thanks to the insurance.

- Primary rental car CDW insurance in every country outside of the US, when the rental is for personal purposes. Rentals without a business purpose in the US have secondary coverage.
- Extended warranty adds a year of coverage, up to $10,000 per claim.
- Purchase protection for items damaged or stolen within 120 days, up to $10,000 per claim.
- Trip Delay Reimbursement covers $500 per person for reasonable expenses (Hotel, food, toiletries, medicine, etc) required for delays more than 12 hours.
- Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption Insurance covers $5,000 per trip or $10,000 per trip with multiple travelers.
- Travel Accident Insurance covers $500,000 per person.

Increased points value:
If you or someone in your household has an Ink Preferred Card you can redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from any card at a value of 1.25 cents towards paid travel.
If you or someone in your household has a Sapphire Reserve you can get a value of 1.5 cents per point towards paid travel. That makes the signup bonus worth at least $1,800 towards travel.
Airline and hotel points transferability:
If you or someone in your household has an Ink Preferred Card you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points into valuable airline and hotel mileage currencies.

Killer Combos:
Stacking multiple Ultimate Rewards cards together can supercharge your earnings by getting you more points per dollar while increasing the value of all your points.
This list will be customized for the Ink Preferred Card.
A Chase Bifecta can consist of a household that has the Ink Preferred Card and the Ink Unlimited or Chase Freedom Unlimited®. The total effective annual fees would be either $95. With the Ink Preferred Card you would earn 3 points per dollar on travel, internet, cable, phone, shipping, and more. With an Unlimited card you would earn 1.5 points per dollar everywhere. Either way you’ll be able to transfer all of your points into airline miles or hotel points, but with the Ink Preferred Card you can also use the points with a value of 1.25 cents each towards travel.
A Chase Trifecta adds a no annual fee card like Ink Cash or Chase Freedom into the mix, so your total effective annual fee will still be just $95. Both of those cards give options to earn a whopping 5 points per dollar in various categories on top of the 3 points per dollar that the Ink Preferred Card offers and the 1.5 points per dollar everywhere else with an Ink Unlimited or Freedom Unlimited card.
Having all 3 Chase Ink cards means you can take advantage of bonus points on all purchases that you make while not having any effect on your personal credit.
A Chase Quadfecta would add both the Ink Cash and Chase Freedom on top of a Ink Preferred and Ink Unlimited card, so your total effective annual fee will still be just $95.
A Chase Quinfecta would add either the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve to that mix, adding $95 or $250 to the additional effective annual fee after the $300 Sapphire Reserve travel credit. This will add either double or triple points on dining, plus with Sapphire Reserve would make your points worth at least 1.5 cents each.
Again, all of these cards don’t need to be in one person’s name. 2 people from the same household can split up the requisite cards that make up the Quinfecta, as they can transfer the Ultimate Rewards points back and forth between themselves freely and they can add each other as an authorized user on their cards!

The fixed value is excellent and doesn’t require hunting down award space, but those points can be much more valuable by transferring them into airline miles or hotel points. They can easily be worth 2 cents each or much more than that!

Or if American doesn’t have availability I can instantly transfer 10K points to United for their short-haul award. That’s a value of up to 7 cents per point.
- Air Canada offers one-way short haul awards for just 6K miles. You can also get stopover awards for 5K miles, build round-the-world awards, and get free lap child awards in the US/Canada and bring lap children to anywhere else in the world for just C$25!
- If I want to stay in a non-chain hotel that costs $300/night and don’t want to pay cash, I can redeem 20K points for the room thanks to my Sapphire Reserve card’s minimum redemption value of 1.5 cents per point or 24K points with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card ’s minimum redemption value of 1.25 cents per point
- Flying Blue has award flights to Israel for 25K miles for adults or 18,750 miles for kids.
- If I want to fly in a $25,000 ANA First Class Suite round-trip from the US to Tokyo, I can instantly transfer 145K or 160K points to Virgin Atlantic. That’s a value of up to 23 cents per point. You can now redeem one-way awards for half the price as well!

I believe that you may be able to – once the card shows up in your chase app, you can add it to your apple pay – also via the app – and spend with Apple pay. Not 100% sure though

Just had that issue with a relative. We wanted to book with hyatt and transfer from the wife’s account to hyatt, but we realized she downgraded the CSP card to a freedom leaving her with no cards to transfer to travel partners. Though her husband has the CSR which doesn’t help because you need to pay $75 for the option to add an AU. And didn’t want to be busy adding and removing AU just to make the transfer and then removing. Don’t think there was another way to transfer the points to her hyatt account being that she doesn’t hold any paid cc accounts.
You can transfer Hyatt points between members.
That’s true. But not instant. Can take a few days if you have a Hyatt concierge. Otherwise more like a few weeks. And wanted the booking for the next day, as well I had a GOH that I wanted to use that was in the wife’s account.
Unless I called Hyatt to see if they can transfer that GOH to another account after already being transfered.

a very easy idea as for those paying rent rent some managements allow you to pay through click pay (not quick pay…) that only charges $25 for visa cards that saves you for a few hundred dollars in fees

No you cannot. Business cards are also not elidgable to add to digital wallets until you receive the physical card.
As soon as you get approved, call and ask them to expedite it, they’ll send you Fedex.

Under 5/24. Have 2 ink cards open. Got denied and Huca as well. I offered to move credit around but they kept saying that the reason was i had multiple ink cards opened the last couple of years which recently were closed.

Interesting you say this. Some have reported/speculated that having too many Inks was reason for denial, so I actually closed out some excess Inks.
I never closed mine, but was declined for this card (1st time being declined in my life) bec they saw I had 4 Inks open that were barely utilized (a few dollars a card every month).
Now I’m starting to rethink the “why not keep them open” strategy..
Catch-22 as closing is also not good. Best practice would be to keep spending on all cards, though that’s not easy to manage.

Got rejected. I currently have 3 INKs for my business all applied for using just my SS# (Sole Prop). One card is about 3 years old but the other 2 I just received in Feb 2024 during the last INK offer. Declined for “You have too many active accounts or too much available credit” and “new business card recently opened”. I called Ink and slashed my available credit from 30K total to 12.5K total. I called Recon. Analyst said “It doesn’t make sense that you decreased your credit and now you want a new card.” I went with the – “I like to use different cards for different expenses” line but he wasn’t buying that: rejected! I have an EIN for my business that I have never used for any CC. Should I reapply using the EIN? Ty.
You made a Big mistake – You should not have slashed your credit rather you should’ve asked the reconsideration line to move the credit to the new card – I had the same issue and that is exactly what I did.

Honestly, I’m convinced people should move their credit to one or 2 chase cards and close their cards out. It seems chase is giving lots of grief to people w multiple unused cards. The only reason not to close accounts are for credit ratio which won’t effect you if you move the credit over. Credit longevity, which you have with other cards, and different types of credit, which you have w other cards.

I Applied while all my credit scores were frozen. So I immediately unfroze them and call credit reconsideration line. They asked for permission to perform a hard enquiry and told me I will get a response in 7-10 business days. I was approved shortly after. I had it in the past. I secure messaged chase that I received this letter and it was actually me that applied. They responded that they’ll forward it to the correct department. I got approved several days later. However upon receiving the card they locked the card for fraud and I had to call to have them unlock it.

Doesn’t need to be a traditional business, you can apply using your social for any side hustle you do.
I think the annual fee is prorated, so the earlier you cancel the more annual fee you get back.

Applied, have a credit freeze. Unfroze, called the Chase number to let them know it was unfrozen. Asked me name on application, said it didn’t match & I’d get a letter in 2 weeks. Letter never came, called after 3 weeks. Got same CS rep who was very curt with me both times. She said they’d “archive” my application and I could try again in 10 days. That’ll be August 11. I applied July 11. So frustrating! But I have a calendar reminder to apply August 11.

I originally got denied after applying for a second one for a different business as a sole proprietorship. I spoke with their recon and verification departments and they said you can’t have more than one of the same card and the same sole proprietorship & SSN. They’re saying that’s the reason why it’s coming up as denied due to it being a duplicate. They’re going to see if they can move some credit line around so the app is pending. Note: I applied for each one about 2 days apart from one another. Any suggestions and / or wait period before trying again??

Called again, they held firm on the decline due to too much outstanding credit with Chase that I am not using, so no need for them to extend additional. Also spoke to supervisor who said the same. I offered to move credit around, no dice

Chase doesn’t usually retract so you will probably get the bonus, but not sure on a big spend like that as they might not like it.

They gave me an extremely hard time with the 5/24 rule even though one of the 5 was opened and closed the same day over 18 months ago. I would NOT say they are overlooking this rule as all. I called reconsideration 3 times and got the same response.

There’s no 1 size fits all, you have to check pricing in the Chase portal and with the various transfer partners.

This also has 3x categories that CIU doesn’t.
Going to need a lot of 0% APR to change the math.
Even considering a value of 1.6 – A lot of people will get more value with the 1.5%, the extra $2000 Can be better spent using a better card with 5% for example, making it $80 vs $190. Plus you didn’t mention the no annual fee of $95. In that case, the 0% APR for the $6,000 (Potentially More) Spent on the card would make it better than the CIP.

5/24 is bypassed by the automated system for many people, but reconsideration won’t typically overrule a 5/24 denial.

I applied for the card but did not get immediate approval. I called the number and they said my application is still under review. This is the second time this has happened with Chase. My FICO score is over 730. I do have few Chase cards with a balance on them but not even close to my limit. Last time I was denied, A week later they increased a different cards limited by $10,000. It seems like all my recent Chase app have been a struggle to get approve for another card – the business cards have always gone to pending for the past 7 years.
This is perfect timing as we have big month long European trip coming up visiting Yid historical/memorial locations in the Visegrád group countries.
Then finishing up with 5 nights in Paris this is the tail end of our big 30th anniversary trips – we started on our actual 30th in January. While most of the lodging and transpo has been points/miles. We still have lots of other expenses.

Another CIP P2s is less than 1yr – but very tempting, but I think the plan is we are going to go for one of the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Business Cards for the single card Companion Pass before the 16th.
We last qualified for the SW CP at the end of January 2020 – we got decent value in-spite of C19 – but SW is good for us living in the PNW – and we have slowly burned through the points (its been great flying family members for weddings and for a first anniversary trip, flew our nieces to see Grandma for Thanksgiving in 2021 and flew my MIL to spend time with her kids for thanksgiving in Virginia Beach).
The CIP SUB will probably end up with United for an Int’l trip SFO/DEN are our main UA transit hubs.
I love the flexibility of UA Awards (they maybe more expensive than LM/AC) but to be honest if there is an IRROP abroad – I love that I can speak with a human in less than 3 minutes (even during travel meltdown last January). It took 40 minutes to talk with someone at Delta on Skymiles not being redeposited – I almost closed the Delta Biz Plat(another DDF link app) before the card refresh – I was burning off the rest of our Sky miles to take the family to Georgia this November to celebrate my mom’s 80th. But the Delta Hotels ($400 first 12 months (Calendar year 2*$200), the $120 Resy credit and the new Delta companion pass now is Central America, Mexico, Hawaii, PR and the Caribbean – so may just keep it.
I digress even after 80 card approvals – I still get excited.
