Offer expired: Barclaycard Arrival Plus™ World Elite MasterCard®

There are no foreign transaction fees.

This card will only require 1 hard pull as opposed to cards from Capital One which cost 3 hard pulls. Best of all Barclaycard will typically pull from your Transunion credit report.  Most banks pull from Experian though this does vary by state.  If you are NJ or NY based you shouldn’t have almost any credit pulls on your Transunion report if you don’t have Barclaycards.

By having this card you will also get your real FICO score for free every month!

The card gives 2 “miles” for every dollar you spend on net purchases plus a 5% refund when you redeem miles so that you effectively earn 2.11 “miles” per dollar spent. The 5% refund posts within 1-2 weeks of making a redemption.

Miles is a misnomer, really they just mean cents with each mile being worth 1 cent. The way it works is you book travel via any booking site and then you can just go online to your Barclaycard account and request that the purchase be refunded using your points. You can refund any purchase that is categorized as “Airlines, Travel Agencies & Tour Operators, Hotels, Motels & Resorts, Cruise Lines, Passenger Railways and Car Rental Agencies.”

If you want to convert your points into cash you could just book a refundable ticket like a Southwest Anytime airfare, select to redeem points to give you a check equal to that purchase, and then just refund the Southwest ticket.  All of your points can be redeemed for 2.11% back that way.

2.11% back on all of your spending is excellent, but still I personally prefer real airline miles over bank miles due to their versatility. However this card is probably the best you’ll get for bank miles and it can make sense for people who don’t travel or who redeem for coach tickets that are purchased in advance.

Do they also have a business cc ? And if yes do they report it every month on the credit report ? Like capital one.
Thanks

The Arrival card is one of the best deals out there!

simi

If I was by mistake approved for the no annual fee card a couple of months ago, do I need to cancel that one in order too get approved for new one?

dovid

Dan, what do you have to say about the Cap1 Spark Business card? I know you hate Crap1, but this is unlimited 2% cashback! what could be so wrong with it?

sol

do they allow to downgrade from the annual fee card to the no annual fee card at the end of the year?

Ber

Can the annual fee version of the card be downgraded to the no fee card after the first year?

Jack

What’s the difference between bank miles and airline miles value wise for the type of person who book economy and early
Thanx

Dan

@dov:
I’m not aware of a business version.

@simi:
You’ll probably have better luck getting approved if you close it first.

@dovid:
How does 2% cash back beat 2.2%?
Why would you want 3 hard pulls for 1 card?
Crap1 business cards report your spending, unlike business cards from AMEX and Chase.

@sol:
They do allow downgrades.
Or close it and get the bonus again.

@Jack:
Generally you’ll do better with bank miles, but YMMV.
With Avios you still may do better even if you book coach and book early.

You forced my hand Dan. Went ahead and applied when I got your tweet buy I was holding out for an inq free TU. didn’t matter though. APPROVED with 5 figure CL. Let the games begin…

@chaim:
Yes.

Can I apply for both and get the points for both or do I have to cancel one first to get points for the next?

dave

applied for a chase ink recently and got denied. The denial later stated my credit report was from Transunion.And I live in NY.

3bm

any 2/3 bm to do with this one and if yes which would u recommend?

Dirah

If I have a five month old US Airways Card, will that be a possible cause for denial?

Dans the man

Do you think they will wave the annual fee like they did with my lufthansa card?

Brooke

Just know that they have terrible purchase protection benefits. I purchased a pair of shoes that basically fell apart within 2 months. The store will not take it back and Barclay will not accept a dispute on the transaction.

shmuel

Is this no annual fee card the best for getting miles out of all the non annual fee cards

Joseph

Hi.
Is there any fee for a Secondary card??

Josh

Do you have to book travel in order to cash out the points ?
or can you just have them send a check, or use it to pay off purchases on the card ?

moshe

any success with their recon?
does it pay to huca?

yitzy

Dan how much longer do I have till they change it???

Sara

“The way it works is you book travel via any booking site and then you can just go online to your Barclays account and request that the purchase be refunded using your points.”
Does that mean it gets charged to the Barclay’s card and then refunded? If I already booked and charged to another card (I think it was my Sapphire) I guess it’s too late to ask a refund from Barclays?
Can someone with a different name book and charge to my Barclays and could I then get the refund?

ar13

How long between canceling an old card to applying for a new one and being eligible for the bonus?

Bracha

@Sara: The travel charge has to be made on the BarclayCard. Then you can redeem your points for a statement credit. I believe will work for any travel related charge even someone else’s.

gigi

the link is not working. is the offer expired?

israel
