You can get the same 5% apy at Washington Mutual plus a debit card that gives rewards(albeit small but nonetheless) https://online.wamu.com/direct/apply/page/StartApplication?appType=FC
But the only place that has better rates is the emigrant direct at 5.15 apy emigrantdirect.com
All three offer better rates then ingdirect but Its worth taking only 5% at either citi or WAMU b/c you can withdraw directly from the savings account at an atm machine. I think wamu is better then citi though b/c free atm withdrawals anywhere.
There are no problems with having “too many” checking accounts…
If there are no citibank branches in the area that you live(there aren’t any here in Cleveland) you not only get free atm withdrawals anywhere, but you also get reimbursed for the other bank’s fee as well!
Im very happy with my citibank checking/esavings account, i just deposit money into my local bank branch, and ACH it over to my e-savings for free.
