Dan, if I booked before 5/28 with Southwest points and I rebook now with points to get a better rate I will lose free bags? Just confirming this also applies to those that booked and now rebook with points.
You would lose them.
Does anyone know if “changing” the flight instead of rebooking keeps the free checked baggage since the original flight was booked before 5/28? And whether having booked with points makes any difference? Thanks
Had the same question!
Rebooked a bunch of flights for us and all my Mom’s grandkids and her first great grandson (and parents). Its not an issue for us as we have the SW preferred Biz card which will get free bag for main/cp as well as free seat selection (if it has rolled out by this November). We have 20 day trip that includes a New England road trip from PVD to Quebec City and back for the leaves this fall – but its all booked on SW.
I saved enough points with re bookings to cancel all cash bookings (the wanna get away plus for the kids/grand-kids for flights booked with cash – I had most booked with points).
Banked $927 of non-expiring and transferable Travel Funds some of the re-bookings were 3.5cpp vs cash. I’m sure we can make use of the travel funds before our CP expires 12.31.2026. We now have 252 RR miles in the account – We will get another 9K this September – going to keep the Biz Pref one more year – will try to burn the travel fund before renewal in 2026. Doubtful we will go for CP again in light of all the changes.
