With a layover would be cheaper?
Is that an option?

Anon

Any way to use AA miles to upgrade?

Sam

Which Airline is the best to fly??

i_know

what about upgrade for bussines ?

Jay

For the same price does the reverse trip work? Tlv-usa usa-tlv

Anonymous

@Jay: Try it and let us know. 🙂

S

$874.36 Thanks Dan!

Dan's the Man

@S: $874 isn’t a bad rate but it isn’t great for winter rate. Last year non-stop NYC-TLV rates were in the $700s and with a stopover was in the $600s. I think rates will be lower for Jan – Feb winter.

Dan's the Man

Just saw that Delta has very limited days PHL – TLV (via JFK) for $677. You’d have to go to Philly when you leave but then you can just get off the plane at JFK and not take the 2nd flight to PHL.

shauy101

Singapore miles earned for crediting United flights to their excellent program=11,384

how is this done?

YM

How many BA earned for the usair flight?

Anonymous

no text came to me for this post?

Andrew Lock

Hidden city deal on Delta.
JFK-TLV-JFK-PHL is $775.

Mendel

Delta flights can be credited to OK Plus (Czech Airlines) for full mileage credit.

my08701

Dan, don’t shoot, I booked the PHL > TLV with Chase Ultimate Rewards less than 62k, I know you can get more with transfers, but its still not a bad deal if you don’t want to sell the miles (too many miles at stake)

Dan

@my08701:
62K is worth at least $930, so you got ripped off badly using that for a $760 flight.

my08701

I knew you would say that, I even prefaced that.. I am willing to forfeit the other few hundred thousand points and all I go is the Holy land coach and North Miami beach, for me it was worth it.. thanks for all

Anonymous

@Dan: Dan, I’m a huge fan of yours but disagree with this 1 point. I realize you try to get great value out of your miles but buying using Chase Ultimate Rewards portal using points isn’t that bad a deal. If you’d transfer your Chase points to United a book a roundtrip NYC – TLV flight for 80K miles + fees why wouldn’t you spend 60K Chase points (with no additional fees) to book through their portal. Plus you get to earn miles as it’s a paid ticket. I realize if you would transfer points to United and book a Business class ticket you’d get more bang per point but to say you “got ripped off badly” is pushing it a little Dan.

Anonymous

@Dan: if he does not want to sell his 62K ultimate rewards nor redeem them for a statement credit why is he getting ripped off? 62k is pretty darn good for a nonstop round trip to TLV. If he wants to use those 62K for travel to TLV what better use is there?

Dan

Just because an award from NYC-TLV is 80K doesn’t make it a good redemption.
In the summer it’s a great redemption. In the winter it’s not.

Why not just sell the points?

Chuck

Any succos dates?

Anonymous

what is cheapo-air cancellation policy?

Anonymous

@Dan:

Why not just sell the points?

Huh? are there are not many legitimate reasons why someone would not want sell their points? moral, fear of account closure etc…

Dan

@Anonymous:
Nobody has had their account closed for transfers to an airline (as opposed to transfers to other cards).

Don

Can one chechfe flight dates afterwards for a minimal charge ?

Anonymous

@Dan: I thought you said why not SELL his points. I was responding why someone would not. So Again if he does not want to sell his points what better use can he make of 62K UR for a flight to TLV?

chaim duvid

to chuck

on us airways.com 09/21-10/08 817.00 tound trip for sukkas

my08701

got it. thank you!

ME

Booked 2 tickets @ 1326! Thanks!!

What is the best FF program to enter to earn points? Is it worth collecting BA points?

Also, is there any way tro upgrade to business with points? If so, which ones?

trumper

Hi,

anyone know the cancelation policy for cheapoair?

Nate

@Dan hey Dan can you upgrade to business using points to business after booking through orbits with el al? Thank you!

Dan

@Don:
Who said anything about selling airline miles?

1

Is it possible to book this and add an infant?
Priceline says that it must be booked via the carrier directly….

Can I add child afterwards?

Dan

@1:
Use Orbitz.

Dan

The bottom line is that redeeming points for 1cpp is just a bad idea.
Save them for when they’re more useful.

Don

@Dan: You, and anonymous.

Mountain Man

This seems like basically the same price war we saw a few months ago. US Air is cheap at United hubs and Delta is cheap at US Air Hubs.

David

What is cheapoair fee for cancellation within 24 hours!

Vroom48

Thanks, booked two tickets PHL>TLV . Couldn’t use miles for this non-stop. Great deal!!

Anonymous

Dan: do you know if Orbitz/Priceline tickets are refundable until 11:00/29pmET the day after purchase even if the flight is scheduled during that time frame, ie: if you book the day of or day before travel and then need to cancel? Thanks!

Recourse?

What is the change fee if I cannot fly on those days?

mike

go to us air directly and pay $ 623 jest bought 4 tickets for DEC 24

mike

from phl to tlv $ 623 on us air

Dan

@mike:
What dates?

Dan Fan

I have a lap baby, so I need to use Orbitz. But the dates I want for PHL-TLV (11/18-11/28) Orbitz is $782, while Priceline is still at $662. Anything I can do to get the Priceline price, and still get the lap baby included?

Dan

@Dan Fan:
You can call to add the lap child after booking.

mike

from Philly to tlv on dec 13 and back on dec 24

Shmuff

I booked on Priceline and I would like to cancel. How do I go about this? There isn’t a link in my itinerary to cancel. Do I need to call them?

SearchGuy

@Dan: Any of your dates will drop to $622 when you book more than 2 pax in one ticket on usairways.com (not aa.com)

Dan

Nice, post updated.

naffo

yes, true but i have a lap child and thats not included. how much more is it when you add that?

anonymous

Lap child is usually %10 of a ticket but I think you should to call right away so the price doesn’t change

Dan Fan

Weird question – I know that most airlines require a lap baby to be 2 for the entire duration of travel. In my case, I’m departing TLV one day before my baby turns 2, but technically speaking, it’s an overnight flight and the plane will still be in the air and land on the day she’s already 2.

When I tried to book on Orbitz, it highlighted her birthday and gave me an error message that a lap baby must be 2 for the entire duration of travel. But when I booked directly on US Air (at the new cheaper rate) and entered her birthday, it went through fine, but I’m still nervous about it.

Does anybody know what US Air policy is in such a case? If it’s a problem, I have 24 hours to cancel, and if it’s not, how do I go about protecting myself from some rogue gate checker trying to make me buy her a ticket for the return flight?

Boruch

i just got to TLV on October 21 for $622.

Thanks!!!!

high end hobo

@ i agree with you 100% i never redeem UR for less then 1.5
but you said 1 cent is a bad redemption, i just wanted to note that Chase travel portal gives 1.25 cents per point.
a much better option would be to use citi prestige points, which 1.6 towards AA travel.

BG

Booked Sukkos for $725 round trip. Worth the 2 hour drive from NY. Thanks!

Anonymous

@Dan: Also Dan you got to realize not everyone has the luxury to pay out of pocket ($662) for airline tickets when they are struggling to meet to pay off debts, mortgage and tuition etc… So if they want to go to Israel and not sell this is really their only option

DanR

Does US Airways have a cancellation policy like Delta or is it a done deal once you buy?

DanR

Just saw this on their website

http://www.usairways.com/en-US/traveltools/specialneeds/ticketingpolicies/default.html

24-hour refund rule

You’re allowed to cancel your refundable or non-refundable ticket for a full refund (and no change fees and/or difference in fare) within 24 hours of booking.

Rules:
You must call 800-428-4322 (800-245-2966 TTY) within 24 hours of purchase to cancel the reservation and request a refund.
The reservation must have been booked at least 7 days before scheduled departure.
This policy does not apply to AAdvantage award tickets.
Refunds are only issued for tickets booked on usairways.com or with US Airways Reservations.

Anonymous

@Dan #1 Delta has WiFi to israel!! #2 You dont need Saturday stay if you depart Saturday night on US (shabbos is over like 5:30)…

Chaim

grupon and living social have offsite parking deals at the same parking lot but living social is 15% cheaper here is the link https://www.livingsocial.com/deals/1250748-3-5-7-or-10-days-of-consecutive-airport-parking

Rachel

I just booked for January with priceline for US Airways for one passenger. Normally I use the airline website but the post said I need 2 tickets. I had good experience from PHL before and found the parking great and the lines were short.

mendel

Any help on how to book the el al flight would be very much appreciated. I cannot find anything nonstop under 1350

DanR

Booked 3 tickets 11/23 – 11/30 for $622.

The drive to PHL beats stops over

Adam

@trumper: they are the worst people to deal with

howard

do you need to book both ways on the same airline to get these rates?

Israel Here We Come

Just booked 7 tickets for whole family for Pesach $647 each – note that is says taxes and fees are about $600 and the price of each ticket is only $24/each way. Does that make sense Dan? Is this a glitch? Will they be honored?

dave

Dan, thanks for update # 3

Made a price claim through orbitz and sure enough I received the following email:

Dear ****,

Thank you for submitting your Orbitz Air Best Price Guarantee claim.

Your claim has been approved. You can expect $132.3 in Orbucks to account for the price difference, plus an additional $150 for being a valued Orbitz Rewards member.

A total of $282.3 Orbucks will be added to your account within 7-10 days after completing travel. However, if you cancel your reservation, any Orbucks earned as part of the Best Price Guarantee will be forfeited.

Orbucks can be used towards a future prepaid hotel reservation on Orbitz

Thank you for using Orbitz.

Sincerely,
Orbitz Customer Care

@Israel Here We Come: yes it’s called YQ that’s where the airlines make their money

Yafit

Hi ive never tired us airways before, i know its a great price but is it really worth it? Ive been reading terrible reviews online, and for a 12 hour flight with 2 kids under 5 years old is it better to just pay more and book El-Al or Delta.?

Dan

@Yafit:
They’re perfectly fine.

Vered Saranga

Can we buy insurance with this deal?

LMN

Thank you done. Awesome price. Just booked PHL-TLV.

Any flights from TLV to New York City ?

Thanks Dan!

Myself and 10 friends got tickets for $622.

Nope.

Anonymous

@JOE: Only %875 to get rid of the in-laws! You really got a bargain!

Daniel

Dan-got two Rosh Hashana tickets for great price using Capital One reward miles. Thank you for responding with this great deal when I alerted you to Philly deals a few weeks ago. Problem is I’m getting calls and I have to tell them I’m not the Dan in Dansdeals!

Succos

Are there ant special rates for Succos?

JT

Succos@Succos:

Ants pay full fare.

c

@Dan’s the Man: so does it pay to wait to book? do you think prices will go down?

Rachel

I saw the cheap 622 flights on US Airways in January. Many of the dates are leaving Thursday, Friday and Saturday which won’t work for me. I went to priceline and tried Purim time. For 690 I get a stopver in Rome for a day and then on the way back it is non stop. I want the stopover so this works for me.

Dan's the Man

@c: If you want to fly from Philly nonstop for $620-$660 then book it now. It’s a good rate for nonstop to TLV. If you are going to book the in mid $800s from NY for the winter I’d hold off but it depends on how risk averse you are. I think you don’t have too much to worry about b/c chances are you’ll be able to do better it just might not be on a nonstop fare.

Josh

Does anyone know what it would cost for a child under 2

Dan

@Josh:
$64 on orbitz.

JOE

I need help to book my ticket

Tamar

Thank you Dan! Booked two tickets for November – $622 each.
