1. People have already starting flying on the $100-$400 United glitch tickets booked via Widerøe last week.
In fact there is a DDF’er en-route now on United 84 from Newark to Tel Aviv on a $300 ticket. Poor sap next to him paid $1,400.
So yes, these are being honored.
2. It’s actually hard to call it a glitch.
Widerøe, a Norwegian airline, has admitted that their own website CEO leaked the info online and intended for people to book the deal on their site so that they would make commissions on the sales.
3. Plenty of reports of people successfully crediting the miles for their USAirways glitch Israel flights to Aegean and United as I suggested they should. There were the $300-$500 tickets to Israel that I posted about in late August from NYC and from other cities.
4. Several people were able to have USAirways drop off the NYC-PHL leg of their flights and just drive to Philadelphia to pickup their flights due to bad weather in the forecast which may have caused them to miss their connection in Philadelphia.. The trick is to keep calling until you get a nice rep if the flight isn’t delayed yet but the weather forecast look poor.
5. Some people have reported being hassled by USAirways agents after clearing customs to check their bags to Toronto. Simple solution: Tear off the bag tag when you take your bag off the carousel before clearing customs and save yourself from being hassled.
You’re under no obligation to continue onto Toronto or to recheck your bags.
6. If I get 1 more email from someone telling me that they called USAirways and that their bags will go directly to Toronto without stopping in Philadelphia I may scream. I’ve literally gotten dozens of these.
Nothing more than misinformation from uneducated agents or simply scare tactics. Even though your bag is tagged for Toronto you need to claim it in Philadelphia and walk it past customs.
7. Over the past 16 months we’ve seen glitches for Israel from every airline that flies between the US and Israel: Delta, El Al, United, and USAirways.
Perhaps if they would stop playing games with scammy fuel surcharges this wouldn’t happen as often…or perhaps it’s all for the best.

You can try to fix those things at checkin though you shouldn’t have any issues even if you don’t.

i understand that the concept of claiming luggage at the 1st port of arrival applies in the us, example TLV-EWR-LAX you clear customs in EWR. but, TLV-EWR-YYZ or any other city in canada, also applies that you clear customs in the 1st airport you arrived? great post Dan!!

I am flying on the Us Airways deal to Israel later this month Buf-Bos-Phl-Tlv. Will I have to pay for baggage for any of the domestic flights or is it all considered international? Will I have to claim my bags at either Bos or Phl or will they go straight through? Is there a way to have a bassinet assigned prior to getting to the airport?

Wouldn’t that be considered there mistake as the travel agency and the issuer of the ticket for failing to collect the YQ in this case the airline UA could easily send a ADM (agency debit memo)for there error

They’re an airline, not an agency.
Widerøe says it was an Amadeus error for dropping the YQ on WF ticket stock.
@Dan – is there a difference between an airline directly selling on an other airline and a travel agency when its comes to fares and rule violations for the purpose of ADM
Also can UA go after Amadeus in this case

Sure, a travel agency can’t change the ticket stock unless they have a darn good reason for it.
An airline OTOH can always sell under their ticket stock.
Anyway the truth is that YQ goes to the ticketing carrier anyway. So I’m not sure there’s even anything to go after as UA is just the operating carrier and wouldn’t get the YQ anyway.
All in all pretty weird stuff this YQ business.

Thanks for the original post, I booked three tickets NYC-TLV, I am going December 15 through PHL, Regarding #4, when is the soonest I can call the AIRLINE about the forecast? does it have to be the day I am flying or can I do it in advance?

You can try a day before.
Though check to see if there were any schedule changes.
Some people had their flights changed by a few minutes and got USAir to drop the NYC-PHL leg for free.
Someone who got the us airways deal arrived in phl after returning from Israel and did not continue to Toronto. A short while after arriving at home in NYC he received an email that his flight to Toronto was cancelled. One quick phone call later he is now getting a refund for that leg of the trip…ðŸ‘
