Get A 50% Rebate When Redeem Virgin Atlantic Points Between The US And UK

Virgin Atlantic is offering to rebate 50% of the points redeemed for flights between the US and the UK.

You must Join both Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic and link your accounts via the link above before booking in order to be eligible for the rebate.

  • To be eligible for this offer, members must book a new flight through virginatlantic.com or Virgin Atlantic contact centre.
  • UK members: Rebate eligible for US and Caribbean routes to/from the UK
  • US members: Rebate eligible for UK routes to and from the US .
  • Book between 10/28-11/7.
  • Travel by 3/25/23.
  • Valid on Virgin Atlantic marketed and operated flights only (flight number starts with VS). Partner airline and codeshare flights are not eligible.
  • Points plus Money redemptions are excluded.
  • Points will be credited to the member’s Virgin Red account within 28 days after the original final flight within the booking has completed.
  • The 50% back offer only applies to points, not any cash element (taxes, fees and carrier-imposed surcharges) of the flight price.

Unfortunately, Virgin charges some hefty fuel surcharges on their awards. Still, if you think of this as a cash ticket with a small mileage component, these can be a good deal. For example:

JFK to London:
Economy: 10K+$150, plus get 5K miles back.
Premium Economy: 17.5K+$325, plus get 8.75K miles back.
Business: 47.5K+$875, plus get 23.75K miles back.

London to JFK:
Economy: 10K+$252, plus get 5K miles back.
Premium Economy: 17.5K+$432, plus get 8.75K miles back.
Business: 47.5K+$720, plus get 23.75K miles back.

In general, fuel surcharges are lower for booking travel as 2 one-ways instead of 1 round-trip.

Additionally, you can get a 30% bonus for transfers from Capital One to Virgin through 10/31 or a 30% bonus for transfers from Chase to Virgin through 11/12.

  • For example,
    • You can transfer 7,700 Capital One points into 10,010 Virgin miles, which is enough for an economy flight to London, and you’ll have 5,010 miles in your account after the rebate. That’s an effective cost of 2,690 points (plus fuel surcharges) for the flight!
    • You can transfer 13,500 Capital One points into 17,550 Virgin miles, which is enough for an premium economy flight to London, and you’ll have 8,800 miles in your account after the rebate. That’s an effective cost of 4,700 points (plus fuel surcharges) for the flight!
    • You can transfer 36,600 Capital One points into 47,580 Virgin miles, which is enough for an business flight to London, and you’ll have 23,830 miles in your account after the rebate. That’s an effective cost of 12,770 points (plus fuel surcharges) for the flight!

There are plenty of great uses for those miles rebated to your account!

ANA F JFK-NRT 33K effectively?

Zack

Did you read the post? ANA is a partner airline and even if those were VS operated the promo is only for US/Caribbean-UK flights i.e. not Japan

cant see my virgin red number to link to cap 1

Zack

Go to the Account tab in your Virgin Red account. Under personal details you’ll see your Virgin Red ID. It’s a series of words not numbers

If I booked a ticket yesterday on their website and cancel now, so I can use this promotion, how long after cancelation will my points show again in my account?

philco

I my experience points return instantly. The fees can take a week or two to return.

Adam

So it has to be a US City serviced by Virgin metal, right? Like I can’t go from DEN to LAX on their partner Delta and then from LAX to the United Kingdom for this amount of points?

Bruce

Both the airline website and the DD post were ambiguous as to what time zone is applied for this deal: does anyone know for certain that it was 12:01 UK time on the 28th?
