El Al now has a sale from Tel Aviv to NYC or Miami for just $499 or Tel Aviv to Los Angeles for $699.
Date changes are free, though the difference in fare will be owed. You can also convert to a voucher that can be used by anyone with no fees.
Unfortunately, originating in the US adds $200 to the cost of these flight bargains. Clearly the airlines don’t feel the need to compete for Americans willing to travel to Israel under the current onerous conditions.
Travel is valid on most dates from November through February.

You should be able to call and get a refund to an electronic travel certificate and then rebook.
Or try switching flights and you may get a cert as a refund.

United supervisor says the electronic travel certificate can take up to 14 days?

May be true for the time being. But word is from an employee I know who works the check-in counter there, they do want to add that route 1x a day as part of their expansion at JFK. Maybe it actually is set to begin in January?

Assuming you meant Newark, you can do it yourself online. Login to your reservation, select “change flight” and then choose the exact same flights you’re on now. It should show you the lower price and you’ll get future flight credit for the difference.
If you have an infant on the ticket like myself, it’ll take you a few hours of HUCA…
I do have a lap infant on one of the tickets. They’re tickets for my kids. So after an hour of arguing and haggling, the supervisor finally agreed to give me electronic travel certificates. So I got all of the ETCs for the one reservation but only receipts for the new fare for the tickets on the second reservation. I hope I don’t have to call back for the second set of ETCs.
Dealing with them on the phone is a disaster when it comes to infants. 5 reps will give you 7 different prices.
They also told me about the $50 downgrade fee, and when I asked to change the dates they said it’s pricing the same as the old one. I finally made a new booking in the spot and gave them the confirmation code so they can see the price for themselves, and they finally gave me FFC.
I booked the $587/adult-$363/kids deal from a few weeks ago. Now it’s $499/adult-$495/kid.
I asked United to split the reservation, leave the kids, cancel the adults, then rebook for $499

I bought it a few weeks ago for $587 and now after the price dropped to $544 for my dates I switched to the next day and got an option to get back $43 per ticket to the credit card that I used to purchase the ticket. Then a few minutes later switched back to my original flight for free.

when I book through UR on a chase sapphire preferred, it says non refundable after 24 hours – does this extend to 11:59pm the next day or is that only on priceline?

Re AA When there is a price drop on the fare, the best is to go your booking, change my booking and click on the dates your want(even if it’s the same dates you currently have), then it will tell you what the difference is. But you’ll get the refund in the form of a future flight credit.
P.s. my experience with aa was that once you change your ticket once online, if you wana nchange it again you’ll need to call them.
