American is back with another fantastic sale from Tel Aviv to the US as they continue their battle for market share as the new entrant in the market.

The cheapest fares are basic economy, but these are basic plus bag fares that include a free carry-on bag, a free checked bag, full flight miles, and full loyalty points for elite status.

Basic economy flights can be changed for free for travel originating in the Middle East (You can see this under “Travel flexibility” by clicking on “New international travel originating outside of North or South America”), though the difference in fare will still be owed.  If a flight doesn’t operate you can get a full refund.

A Friday night stay is required.

You can buy up to regular economy for an extra $50 round-trip, which will allow you to assign seats without an extra charge. It may be cheaper to purchase basic economy and pay for assigned seats. Elite members can select preferred or main cabin extra seats even on basic economy, and they can apply systemwide upgrades.

These fares are on sale for flights originating in Israel only.

Tel Aviv to JFK $471 outbound dates:
January: 12 through 31
February: Entire month
March: 1 through 12, 17, 18

JFK to Tel Aviv return dates:
January: 12 through 31

May 21
June 4
July 2, 7, 8, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 29
August 13

Using Chase Points:

You can pay for the ticket with “hybrid points” such as AMEX or Chase points with a card that allows your points to be used at an increased value for airfare in addition to be able to transfer points into airline miles.

If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve® card you can redeem points for 1.5 cents each towards travel. If you have a Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card you can redeem points for 1.25 cents each towards travel.

You can login to your account and redeem Chase points for travel here. The round-trip cost will be 31,395 points with a Sapphire Reserve. That rate include all taxes and you will still earn flight miles as well!

Any suggestion for originating and flying out from NY/NJ? use this as round trip for return flight and book a one way going to TLV? I screwed up on dates for the business AA deal and did friday night flights instead of sat night 12:05am.

Od

I doubt that will be nay better one way to tlv from nyc nonstop can be very expensive. You would probably do better searching roundtrip from nyc

Yossi

I would definitely pay A few dollars more and fly with united (Currently at $528.00 ), as Dan said in the 1/9/22 News Roundup.

I actually flew with AA 2 months ago on a similar deal and was glad I did; they cancelled the flight right before boarding and rescheduled it for 12 hour later but they had to give me a check for $970 due to Israeli law about cancelled flights. I would definitely like to be delayed again for 12 hours for a check of ~$1000

yehuda

is there any way to upgrade my status on aa

Ilan

$135 for anyone keeping score of how much it cost if you used points that you bought from the AA deal that Dan posted last week

rafael

Anyone know what kind of plane they are using for this flight? i took AA last summer and it wasn’t bad, but i heard that they try to pack more seats now there is even less space than before.

LB

chase portal has options in 60k miles range round trip (delta, united…)

Michael

48000 with reserve card on many dates.

When u say You can buy up to regular economy you mean after purchasing the ticket? because the Main is $75+

deals

Still shows Basic No changes allowed, why?

Jim Leberger

I just booked a round trip for $535 on United (to EWR) for March. I really need a one way, though round trip was cheaper.

Al

Hello,
Could someone please direct me to the cancelation policy for tickets purchased with sapphire chase points? Do the miles go back into your account ? TIA

Avi

is there any chance that more dates will become available, especially on the outbound from tlv (later in march)?

Rafael Chemtob

Is there a way to use Amex membership rewards points (maybe through a partner airline) and how would I do so?

Chaim

@ Dan
I booked basic economy tickets with American Airlines for March 2 at 480 a piece
If my wife or I get covid what is their policy. On their website it said that the basic and lowest economy fare is nonrefundable and non-transferable. It does not let me purchase insurance on the flight anymore. I’ve booked it with Chase Sapphire preferred. Does that give me travel insurance if my wife or I get corona before we fly?
Thank you

Charlie

Hi Dan. Can you please clarify what happens if you change the date, which is free. Do you get AA voucher? Can other people use the credit? How long does is he credit valid for? If only to the traveler, can he use for other routes? If only fly one way, do they give credit (whatever form) for the unused half? TY

Robert

I am tying to switch this ticket and AA says is basic economy non refundable. A few HUCAS they admit to the rule but not applicable to 3rd party vendors. How do you actually make changes without hassle? Yes it is written in the rules but between Chase and AA, I can’t get it going. Even supervisors don’t know the rules.

Ellen

Hi. Any possibility that there will be a deal on flights from TLV to NY for passover travel?
As of now, non stop is looking like $1200 -$1400 for the dates & times I am looking for. (Looking at 4/10,11,or12 to 4/24or25)
Should I just bite the bullet and book? I don’t want to miss out on a deal, but then again I don’t want to have to pay even more!!
