The outbound flight is a regular nonstop from Newark to Tel Aviv.

The return flight is from Tel Aviv to Houston but notice that it connects in Newark.  By law all checked baggage coming in on flights from abroad must be claimed at baggage claim and brought past customs officials before you can recheck them.

You can just take the tags off your bag in Newark and nobody is going to force you to fly to Houston.

This is called hidden city ticketing, and of course the airlines don’t love that.  And airline reps will probably lie to you and say that your bags will go straight to Houston even though they will not.  They will be tagged to Houston, but everyone has to pick them up in Newark.

They can decide not to give miles for your trip, though only USAirways has actually followed through with that threat.  I don’t suggest anyone do this every month, but tons of people save money by buying tickets with hidden city ticketing every day without problems.

Sample $751 valid dates:
-01/21-01/29
-01/26-02/10
-01/27-02/05
-02/02-02/11
-02/04-02/19
-02/23-03/03
-03/03-03/10
-03/04-03/12
-03/04-03/18 ($781)

You can read this post for more on how to utilize hidden city ticketing.

maw

853 on 2\19 is there any dates available for 751?

sad

Isn’t it illegal to do this, by not going to Houston? It’s against the law and airlines policy. It doesn’t make a kiddush Hashem that frum people are doing this.

M.R.

Any tickets for lag baomer ?

Anonymous

Dan
Anything coming in the other direction, from israel to the US especially for the summer.

meir

Thanks for the deal.
how does it work normally with such a flight? when i arrive to newark we have to pick up the luggage and take it myself to the checkin or it goes automatically? I mean to ask that when i will arrive I can just take my luggage and walk out of the airport without anybody’s knowing.

D

Hey dan thanks again- are there any cheaper flights than this one going to housten like a flight to another state in us that I could look for?

Why not every month?

I’m just curious why u say “I don’t suggest anyone do this every month”? Does it matter how often u buy hidden city tickets? Like it reflects something?

happy

@sad: hey sad,
y would this be illegal or even against airline policy… if they are ok with flying you from ewr->tlv->ewr->iah then by definition they would be ok with you just staying for the first 3 legs… please explain the chillul h’. besides even if they dont like it for some reason, noone would ever know it was a jew!!!

berl

to D. u can try WAS as well

berl

Dan
what happens if for some reason the flight gets cancelled and they send you to Houston without stopping in EWR? can u demand that stopover? perhaps is a good idea to book ewr-iah a good few hours after arrival, so u can tell them u wanted to meet someone at the airport

sa

anything for lag bomer?

jojo

I got a r/t ticket with multiple cities going from jfk to tlv and then back to toronto with stopver at jfk for 846, whereas the direct flight to jfk only was 911.

manganator

@meir,
read the post !!!!!
u have to claim ur bags in newark

Ariel

Houston to tel aviv and back with a stop in NY $660 Delta. So If you fly from JFK to TLV it’s a non stop flight for just $660

manganator

@ariel
r u serious? if u miss the first leg of your flight then the rest of ur flight is cancelled

aron

plz explain the delta deal, I am flying from Newark to tel aviv, & back to Newark what do I do re Houston?

aron

@Ariel: how do I get the 660 rate ?

Ariel

100% not,u can call them before the flight and let them know that u t taking only JFK to TLV

Dan

Folks, if I had deals for other dates or from Tel Aviv to JFK I’d post them.

I’m not sure why people think I’m a travel agent, but I got dozens of emails last night from people to book them tickets.

I’m not a travel agent!

Dan

@sad:
il·le·gal
adjective
1.
contrary to or forbidden by law, esp. criminal law.

Please show me the law that says you can’t fly the first 2 legs you purchased and then no-show for the final leg.

@D:
ORD and WAS may work.

@Why not every month?:
If they do decide to penalize someone (take away miles, etc) for doing this it would be someone who’s doing it consistently, not people who did it occasionally.

@berl:
United’s only flight to Israel is going to Newark.

@Ariel:
Won’t work.

Ariel

Aron, Just look for a ticket from Houston to tel aviv, and take only JFK to TLV(Delta) ,Newark to TLV (United) u don’t have to take Houston flight

Dan

@Ariel:
Again, that won’t work.
They’re not going to just cancel your first leg for free without a darn good reason.
And when you miss the first leg your entire ticket goes into the garbage can.

Hunch

@areil
Get with the program

berl

Dan
yes. united’s only flight to TLV is EWR but they can place you on lufthansa, autrian, swiss and you will really end up in IAH without the EWR stop. you dont like the idea of booking EWR-IAH a few hours after arrival, so you can at least show them you intended to meet someone?

Dan

@berl:
You can say that anyway.

Or just say you want to stick to a United flight, no big deal, they’re not forcing you onto another airline.

Ariel

@Dan: r u shure? I always fly Delta JFK to LAX. And I buy a ticket PHl to LAX with a stop in JFK It comes out cheaper. And I only take JFK to LAX. Never had any problems

Dan

@Ariel:
It depends on a lot of factors but it’s not worth the risk.

When using ita for searching hidden city fares, is there any difference in using the codes (X:CLE) or using the milticity tab?

charles

hi dan

I have aleady delta 50k points and Barclaycard arrival 44k points and spg 25k points
how helpful can this be for a trip from ny to isreal?

Bikeguy

skiplagged.com missed this one. Doesn’t look good for skiplagged’s programming.

kristine

Thanks, Dan…Please keep doing what you are doing. I am a huge fan, esp after the delta glitch. Some comments posted are so crazy and I’m glad to see you ‘keep on keeping on.’ (if that makes any sense, lol). You are NOT a travel agent, for sure. What you do is VERY appreciated!! Thank you, Sir! (smile)

EM

i see the flight for 751 from 2/2-2/11 on united- do i have to say anything on the way back from TLV that i just want to go to Newark – not houston? y do they have to know? Please let me know ASAP.

J

@em
Don’t say any thing. When u arrive @ ewr just leave the airport

Michelle

@meir: mm
Everyone has to retrieve luggage and go through immigration and customs in Newark regardless of whet that is their final destination or not.

Mike

Just booked thanx dan!!

Daniel

I just checked flights from Chicago to Israel. The lowest was $748 via Turkish or $749 via United.

Mistake - HELP!

Question: I read about the deal from Chicago to Tel Aviv (via Newark non-spot) about a year ago. And purchased the ticket. However, my ticket is From Chicago to Tel Aviv (via Newark) and back the same way. I want to fly out of Neward and land there as well. Will I get penalized for attempting that option? What can be done? My flight is next week! 🙁

baruch

I @Mistake – HELP!: I believe you have to take the flight from Chicago or they will cancel the rest of your itinerary you can only miss the last leg because at that point its irrelevant

FD

@Michelle: Please advise whether the luggage will be on the belt as if this is the final destination? all the people will leave it there and ill just take it and walk away?

miriam tawil

are these flights for tel aviv to newark as well?

E Leyman

Your deals are amazing. Do you have any flights to Israel for April 6, 2014? Thanks for your site!
