Promo Companion Pass Terms:
- A Promotional Companion Pass allows you to designate one person to fly with you, free of airline charges (does not include taxes and fees from $5.60 one-way), on all flights purchased and flown from September 8, 2025 and November 15, 2025.
- Once you are qualified for a Promotional Companion Pass you will receive an email from Southwest that includes information on next steps and how to designate and utilize the Promotional Companion Pass. Southwest intends to send this email to all qualifying Members within 10 days after your qualifying flight is flown.
- You can designate a Companion after the Promotional Companion Pass has been awarded to your account on 9/8/25. You may change your designated Companion up to three times during the Promotional Companion Pass period. If you earn Companion Pass in 2025 by earning 125,000-135,000 Companion Pass qualifying points or flying 100 qualifying flights, any changes to your designated Companion during the time you have a Promotional Companion Pass will reduce the number of changes you can make to your designated Companion in the 2025 calendar year. For example, if you earn a Promotional Companion Pass through this promotion, change your designated Companion twice during the validity period for Promotional Companion Pass, and later in 2025 earn Companion Pass, you would only be able to change your designated Companion one more time in 2025. Companion Pass is not transferable.
You can book travel for the companion pass holder at any time and then add a free companion at any time, as long as a seat is available for sale.

Thr promo says that a companion can’t be added to basic fares; WGA+ fares are usually about 10% more, I think. There’s a simultaneous promo for 5k points per RT/2 one-way booking, and a total of 20k for 3 RT. That can’t be booked with points, but can use vouchers or travel credits.
Southwest clarified that one can use the companion pass on basic fares, but they can’t book basic fares to qualify for this promo. I haven’t verified that flights will count for both promotions.
If I booked a flight with a companion (using my existing companion pass) can this help me if I cancel and rebook? Or is there no companion of a companion..
If I want to use companion pass for my wife, can I bring a lap child also? (As in pay for one ticket, have one companion and still bring a lap child?) Or would they not let me get away with bringing three people while essentially only paying for one ticket?
