Israel is a land that means many things to many people. To some, it represents heritage and history. To some, family, connection and togetherness. And to some, cuisine and culture. But to all, Israel is home.

In an unprecedented dose of adventure, Am Yisroel Chai is raffling off the opportunity to own a home in our homeland. One lucky winner will have the privilege of owning a $1,000,000, brand-new apartment in the heart of Jerusalem.

This apartment is not a rental, nor is it a lease. It’s a luxury apartment overlooking Har Habayit – to keep, forever. Whether the lucky winner moves there, vacations there, or saves it to greet Mashiach from its porch, the keys to the apartment remain his/her own.

There are hundreds of thousands in the East, with their hearts in the West. There are hundreds of thousands already in the West. And there are hundreds of thousands more who are lost. But all have one singular commonality – they all belong in and long for the land of Israel.

Just one $180 raffle ticket offers the opportunity to, quite literally, live the dream.

And now, for a limited time only, DansDeals readers can grab an extra ticket with any ticket-purchase. Use promo code DANSDEALS to redeem this offer.

All proceeds from The Dream Raffle will benefit the Am Yisrael Chai Foundation. Since its inception in 2001, the Am Yisrael Chai Foundation (AYC) has flourished with the singular mission to build up and support the agriculture, infrastructure, and people of Israel. As an IRS-approved organization, Am Yisrael Chai is devoted to supporting the people of Israel through a multitude of programs and services.

It’s the ultimate dream. And now it’s within reach.

Is there an Israeli tax liability or a maintenance fee?

Shmuel Sackett

From Shmuel Sackett (Chairman of Am Yisrael Chai) – USA law requires taxes to be paid on all prizes. You will need to speak to your accountant about that. As far as monthly fees, every building in Israel has a monthly “vaad bayit” which is usually around 500 shekel per month.

Yankle

Sounds like an amazing raffle, does the winner need to pay taxes though on the prize? (could be a $300k tax bill come tax season)

Shimshon

BE”H. Thx for the post
Please reply asap to the tax issues and question.

Wow!
I saw for the first time in history –
and I thought you were going to write something about the Browns winning….:)

Steven

Apartment is only worth $635K, not $1mm, as per the terms of the raffle:

3.3. A winner who is not entitled under Section 4B of the Law of Return, 5710-1950, will not receive the Apartment – rather, a “prize alternative” that is equivalent to the value of the Apartment at the time of its acquisition, approximately $635,000 only.

Mike

1 million Canadian Dollars obviously

Moshe

Just to make things clear it’s in the neighborhood called Arnona is which is right near the new embassy. It’s 2 miles in a straight line from har habayis. I wouldn’t exactly call that overlooking rather has a view of the bar habayis.

Yitzy

Overlooking definition on google is: have a view of from above.
“the chateau overlooks fields of corn and olive trees”
synonyms: have a view of, look over/across, look on to, look out on/over, give on to, command a view of
“the breakfast room overlooks the garden”

Moshe

You are right but overlooking gives the impression that it’s closer than 2 miles away. I wasn’t trying to accuse anyone of lying just wanted to make it more clear where the apartment is located.

It’s a stretch. My in-laws live in the building across/down the street. They too have ‘overlook’ the dome of the rock. You need binoculars or a telescope. It barely stands out against the rest of the skyline. As for the $635,000 – that’s likely the cost of the four walls of the apartment when it was on paper before being built. It probably is very well worth a million bucks today.

Shmuel Sackett

I personally took all the pictures that appear on the website. No photoshop was used. You literally see the most amazing things in Jerusalem. It’s incredible.

That’s what telephoto/zoom lenses are for. I don’t think anyone questioned that you doctored the pictures chas vshalom. But that’s not the view with the naked eye.

BTW WTH does this paragraph mean:

There are hundreds of thousands in the East, with their hearts in the West. There are hundreds of thousands already in the West. And there are hundreds of thousands more who are lost. But all have one singular commonality – they all belong in and long for the land of Israel.

Are we talking about Jews stuck in Islamic Countries?

Pretty sure I thought the phrase was “Libi Bamizrach” not “libi b’maarav”

???

Brian

Sounds like whoever wrote this is a bit of a lost one.
