2) Also, is there a hotel within walking distance to a shul, if people opt to spend shabbos there?

1) yes, there are a couple, and around popular times there are more minyanim.

2) Chabad has a guest house, and there are popular hotels that frum people often stay at.

@Dan: there is a shul in Harrisburg,pa which is 20 minutes away and if you’d like to stay for shabbos call the shul and they will set you up for shabbos. It’s called kesher Israel. Good luck!
