Things to do

Six Flags Great Escape (Kid friendly amusement park) https://www.sixflags.com/greatescape (Note: Basic Six Flags season passes no longer apply to all parks across the country)

Hiking - various trails in the area - see www.alltrails.com, (where you can sort hikes by difficulty, popularity, length etc, and see pictures and reviews).

Biking (Bike rentals starting at $10/hour at http://www.beachroadbait.com/bicycle-rentals.html). Right nearby is Warren County Bike Trail (a rails-to-trails trail, Map at https://warrencountyny.gov/sites/default/files/dpw/Parks_Rec07/pdfFiles/Bikeway%20Map%201.pdf )

Boat rentals: Kayaks, Stand-up Paddle boards, Motor boats, Pontoons. Various locations. Reservations (and boat license) may be required by some.

Lake George Steamboat- The Minnie HaHa one hour cruise around the lake seems to be the most popular option. Make sure to book in advance during busy seasons as many of their slots sell out.

Fun Spot- Arcades, laser tag, VR, skating, etc. in Queensbury. Only Go Karts and mini golf are open during COVID as of August 2020

High Falls Gorge- Four waterfalls and 2 glass floored walkways in a 22 acre privately owned nature park. About an hour and a half further north from Lake George.

Adirondack Adventure Center Lazy river tubing, whitewater rafting, ropes course and zip line

We Rock The Spectrum Kids Gym Small fun indoor gym and play area for young children in Ballston Spa. Need to rent out the whole place for $45 an hour during COVID as of August 2020

Via Aquarium Smallish aquarium with all the basics inside a mall in Schenectady. Not far from Albany.

Saratoga Spa state park Very large park with mineral springs. The Saratoga Springs area has the only active spouting geysers east of the Mississippi River in the United States, and you can find them all around the park. There are also tennis and volleyball courts, golf courses, the Saratoga automobile museum, a bunch of stunning trails, a nice playground, a gorgeous creek, and some great pavilions (with electricity and bathrooms) for barbecuing or picnicking all inside the park.

The State Capitol in Albany is under an hour away from Lake George, where you’ll find Kosher food and minyanim as well as many great museums.

Food

Chabad sells chicken, salmon, and meat meals for $35 per person. There is also a very well stocked Price Chopper in Albany.

Price Chopper
1892 Central Ave
Albany, NY 12205
(518) 456-9314
http://www.pricechopper.com

You can get all of your groceries, including:

Deli and prepared foods
Kosher Butcher
Huge frozen section
Pas Yisroel breads & rolls
Snacks & Sweets
Cholov Yisroel Milk & Cheese

Minyan

Chabad in Saratoga Springs often has a minyan, sometimes during the week and sometimes on Shabbos as well.

They also have a minyan by Lake George for weekdays during the summer. Email or call Rabbi Rubin for more information.

Rabbi Abba & Raizel Rubin

(518) 526-0773
SaratogaChabad@gmail.com

Shabbos

There are many hotels within a short walk to the Chabad in Saratoga Springs. The Embassy Suites is a 14 minute walk and was chock full of Yidden when @S209 was there. There is a Hilton Garden Inn, a Hilton, a Homewood Suites, and a Residence Inn as well as many others. Hotels are expensive during horse race season but there are no races during COVID as of August 2020.

The Hampton Inn Saratoga Springs  is a 4 min walk from chabad. There’s a great public balcony for shabbos meals as well as some private ones connected to the actual rooms. Keep in mind that there’s no Eruv in Saratoga.
Chabad also rents out some suites for Shabbos. You can see pictures on their website.

minyan only opens after tisha ba'av otherwise there is a belz yeshiva in saratoga springs
I just stayed with a camp at the Ramada in Queensbury about 10 min outside Lake george and it was fine.
Activities: six flags, tubing/rafting on the Hudson, steamboat on Lake George, swimming in the Lake, ropes course about 20 min north called Adirondack Extreme was awesome, fireworks on the lake at 9:30 PM on Thursday and special days, go carting/laser tag at the fun spot or adventure racing in queensbury

In lake george the best lodging for a family would be to rent a cabin. The minyan in in a tent on bloody pond rd. If you prefer to sleep in a motel, the travelodge will give you a discount for mentioning the lake george minyan. In general, its a beautiful place, don't know specific attractions though (the lake). The price chopper there (local grocery store) brings in a relativeky decent selection of kosher food for the summer. Previously, the number for the minyan was (518)522-8478. Call him for more info

Anyone been to Lake George lately?
I'm thinking of doing a quick getaway there on Sunday for like 2-3 days. I haven't a clue about the place and don't have much time to research. Would appreciate any tips such as what to do, where to stay, what's there for kids etc.

Did you think i would rather type a five line question over a three Word search?

Are there any kosher restaurants open in lake George in the summer or do you need to bring your own food?
