for some reason my ba card isn't allowing me to buy gift checks and do amazon payments for 1k,
I checked to see if the problem might be with the amazon payments account but other credit
cards are working.....

I took Amex GC to grocery store (Safeway in CA) and bought $500 Visa GC for $3.95 fee.  Visa GC can be used at lots of places, including Mint.  I also bought a few groceries and charged the groceries and $3.95 fee on the BA Visa.

Total of $20 in fees to move $2500 of Amex GC.

Into Visa GCs, which (while they may be better than Amex GCs) are still not cash.

u never answered my question[
You're not afraid of getting your/their account flagged for abuse?
so instead send like 800? also is it a red flag if u only do it once?
do u really think once or twice sending big amounts to diff ppl will get it flagged?

Rule of thumb: When someone doesn't answer your question (but they posted other responses in the thread, meaning it's likely they saw it), it often means they don't know (or aren't sure of) the answer to your question.

In this case I actually did answer your question. I said I'm not sure how vigilant they are (with screening for fraud/abuse).

I have not, for the most part, only legit(ish) payments so far, I'm waiting to see what people are saying about it.

asher question for u my wife legally still has her maiden name. you think i can set her up an amazon payments account with a diff address and send money from me to her and cash out from a bank account that is only attached to her account?

I've never had a problem sending money between my spouse and I even with both of us at the same address.  I do make a point to link different bank and credit card accounts though on the sending and receiving accounts.

I've sent close to $1000/month per account for close to 6 months now.  I will pick random amounts so nothing looks too obvious (like sending exactly $1000 every month would).

1) if you call amex and say you don't agree to their terms and conditions wont they send you a check for that amount?
2) why not buy amex checks instead of gc's
3) why is everyone buying amex gc's and not visa gc's?
4) for amazon payments is it better to use a amex cc or amex gc?
thanks

Do we know that for a fact?  Or perhaps it was just someone utilizing the majority of his credit line that triggered it.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Another good way to use your gift cards (and to meet your spending thresholds) is to pre-pay your regular monthly bills. Put a few hundred dollars towards your cell phone, internet, cable etc. Anything that accepts credit card and you'll have to pay over the next few months anyway. Most will have no problem with an overpayment, it's an interest free loan to them and you'll basically have a few months of getting bills with a credit balance.

I can attest to that. I know a few people that happened to recently.

Why would you pay for something if you don't need to??

You are prepaying the inevitable. Its a way to quickly spend money. I personally wouldn't do that, but the logic is there.
