Topic Wiki

Mexico City has a very large Jewish community and many things to do, in fact Mexico City has the most museums of any city in the world.

Things To Do

Xochimilco - pronounced ( sochi milko)  - Rent a boat for a few hours, boat will take you along the canals, most boats have tables and chairs, many people bring their own food and have lunch ect on a boat. there are other boats in the water with bands playing music and selling food / drinks. along the canals are also some shops a restaurants. Definitely a relaxing way to spend a few hours.

Can anyone recommended anything interesting to do there?
I may end up having  a 12 hour layover there

Any kosher restaurants?

Oh, and is it safe? ;D

Been there a buncha years ago.
There are definitely Kosher restaurants, and it is definitely not so safe.
And there is definitely nothing interesting to do there.

The airport is quite close to the Jewish area Polanco, I would not recommend renting a car unless you have a GPS and you know where you are going, you are best off taking a cab from the airport. One rule of thumb in Mexico is NEVER hail a cab, only use taxi stations. So in the airport you use their station, and otherwise you have them call a cab for you.

Stopped on my way to Guatemala.

You're not missing anything by not going into the city.

I'm pretty sure there's an Amex lounge, can't remember which terminal though....

I've been there before. As long as you go to the attractions during the day and maybe a restaurant at night you will be fine.
There are many restaurants to eat in. I would recommend el gaucho's it is really good. Do not drink the the tap water as you will probably get some nasty Montezumas revenge. If your there for one day you should probably either go to the pyramids or to Xochimilco.
Xochimilco is a canal system running through a part of Mexico City ( like Venice except much more third world)

We are going to Europe for a week in august. We really want to fly F through FRA and are trying to do so either on the outbound or the return.
I saw availability from MEX.
I found biz availability on the days we can go through other cities, but am still trying to find a way to go in F

I take it you're flying from the US.
If that's the case, interesting route. make sure it's not costing you more miles..

If its less than a day I would hire a taxi.

If you need help with that I can prob get you more information

Was looking at Kosher Food NEAR the airport during a possibly long layover and came upon this: https://www.yelp.com/biz/leas-cafe-ciudad-de-m%C3%A9xico

Might be the only kosher airport establishment outside of Israel?
