Someone just emailed me this:

"Having taken advantage of the BA Visa last year, I received the same letter everyone else got informing me that I wouldn't receive a bonus again. Upon calling to cancel since I wasn't receiving a bonus, I was passed to an account specialist. We went back and forth a bit on how I could receive the bonus still. The agent then offered to keep the 50K with $2,500 spend offer, but I would receive  no first purchase bonus.  I continued to try to negotiate by closing other cards, lowering limits, etc, but no luck.  So, I'll spend the $2,500, get the miles, and close.50K seems better than nothing and the spend won't be too hard in 3 months.

thanks again for all that you do and take care!"
I would like to try this. which number would be the best for this? is there a a specific "retention" dept.?

I just asked about each card on 3 separate recon calls.  We'll see how it pans out soon enough.

Would they happen to know about your website by any chance on these calls?

Update: Chase has asked me to remove the BA links on May 5th.  I wouldn't wait until the last minute if you want it.

Just got approved after being pending for over two weeks!!
Now need advice, they have given me a low limit of $1k, but I want to know if I can prepay and credit the account with more money like american express cards, so it would be easier for me to reach the bonus, instead of being limited to $1k a month, or would they allow temporary approvals of higher amounts? Amex was always helpful for these things. Thanks

How long does it typically take to get the bonus miles from the time you hit the spending threshold?  How long do you have to cancel the card before the fee is no longer refundable?  If you get a fee refund after a certain point is it prorated?

instead of being limited to $1k a month
You're not limited to 1K a month. You can walk into any Chase branch and pay up your balance even though the statement hasn't closed.

I applied for a BA card, Hyatt card, and a United card last week with 3 browsers at the same second.

Here's hoping for a hat-trick!

Can you please tell us how many active Chase cards you had before the three approvals and when you last applied with them? Also, how many (recent) inquiries were there on the credit report they pulled?

Thanks for sharing, I'm slowly piecing the puzzle (Chase's approval criteria) together.
