"Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us." is the reason for the BA denial per letter recieved today. Did not recieve the CO denial letter.  I have one chase card.
Inqs they saw are now all deleted:

Peoples Federal Credit Union 3/11 (Unauthorized pull)
Capital One 3/11

AT&T 9/10                           (Unauthorize pull)
Chase 2/10                          (Close CO card)

Community Credit Union 5/09
XXX Credity Union 5/09
Peoples Federal Credit Union 5/09
Creditco Automotive 5/09

All these inq are now gone from my file. So 2 inqs within 6 months seems enough to scare them. Utilization was 7.5% and remained under 15% for 1.5 years, never revolved.

I applied for ba and co on may 5th. I got 2 separate letters in the mail today. (Both informing me that I was declined  :'( ) they pulled once from experian and once from transunion. I submitted the apps within 30 seconds of each other. I Live in jersey.

Different reasons for each app. Main reason is "credit utilization is to high" . I made a very big mistake,  I recently closed a cc with a large balance. Since its a closed acct the credit line isn't counted towards available credit but the balance is counted into the utilization. So basically it takes away from the overall avail credit, and makes the ratio much worse.  Sucks for me  :(

I also applied for the BA, UA and CO cards and got 2 pulls with Experian, on the day I applied and the following day.  I got a denial on the BA because "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us."  I got a letter on the UA saying that I already have a UA card and I should contact them to discuss- yes, I opened a new MP account.  I haven't received anything on the CO and when I call application status, it says all 3 apps are still pending.  Any advice.

Thanx

I got approved for UA and BA.
I did not have to call the reco department, they both got approved 4 and 5 days apart from the application time.
Although I did the double browser I still got two pulls

How long apart were your browser submissions? Pulls to same or different bureaus?

I submitted both applications within 2 seconds of each other. The pulls were from Experian and Transunion.
I think that each application randomly selects one of the two bureaus. If both applications pull from the same bureau then it will show as one pull. However, if they pull from different bureaus, It will show two pulls.

This is just a theory. However, I feel like this is how it works

P.S. I am in NY

Weird.
All of my Chase credit card pulls are from Transunion.  Never pulled from anywhere else.
Even when I do a trip-app there's just 1 pull.

+1 for me, except they all pull Experian. I hope that doesn't change once I unfreeze it. (while it was frozen they pulled Equifax).

One other thing. Someone once told me that Amex pulled from more than one bureau to verify their address, any chance Chase is pulling the other reports to verify something that's incomplete/insufficient on the first report they pulled?

My whole process was weird. I did not have to call the reco department at all. Both appplication got approved by themselves.

I guess like everything else its YMMV

I called about my CO denial, but should have waited 30 minutes for today's mail because that reference number came shortly after my call to them. The reconsideration line immediately knew I had two apps (probably pulled up automatically from phone number identifier). They told me 2 apps submitted on the same day regardless being different brands (BA + CO) cancel each other out. He told me I am only allowed to submit 1 for reconsideration and asked which. I didn't want to be locked in so I declined on both until I could decide "based on my airline choice". I asked for the reference number, they gave it to me. Then my mail came and had that number too. I called back and only mentioned the reference number and nothing was said of the BA app. Verified the same info that I put on my app, put on hold for about 10 min. and he came back with approval for the CO. After I hung up I realized that I need to get that card quick since I'm attempting to churn it and hope to get the miles posted before they find out I've double-dipped. Called back again with the reference # and told them about my upcomming CO travel overseas and need to buy a ticket with that card. They are going to express it UPS to me. So I hope to put a charge on it by Tues and call back and chance the cycle to about the 25th so hopefully those miles post. In that case I hope if they yank them back that it will give me some more arguing room. I will call next week to have the BA reconsidered too. So the double browser did not seem to work for me.

is it a good idea if one has many hard pulls on 2 bureaus to freeze the accounts so the new apps that you apply for will be taken from elsewhere?

We're still studying it. We know it works for Chase (but might result in two pulls), and doesn't work for Amex (they ask for the code to access your frozen report). What do you call too many pulls? How many over how long?

So after recieving my CO card today, I just called now and gave the reference # for the BA (double browser). Was told that they only allow 1 approval. So I guess I should wait a few more days and try again.
