thant can be very helpful. thanx.

Nothing to lose - rental reservations don't require a cc usually, if it's no good he'll just take the Hertz. He'll be in the airport anyway.
so if i use some random corp. that waives the UF , and the rental company processes it w/o asking questions, then there is no problem otherwise? (and i buy my own insurance)

u can still have a problem if u get in accident. the rental company can say they r not covering you and even your own insurance can deny you (technically it is a stolen car)

I didn't check your dates but generally speaking,  hertz.ca supposedly has better rates for OW rentals.
Thanks, I did try a few countries, but not Canada. Will check now

UPDATE: got $110. Decent, but want better.

Heres what i just found: if u go to hertz.com and switch the country to any south american country - argentina, brazil, mexico...etc - the rates are MUCH cheaper (i think its a sale for 20% off on usa rentals from those countries)

EXAMPLE: i checked, LGA RT is $69.00 Per day for compact car from USA but if u change to those countries its $29.28 p/d!!

and it works for other places in US as well. i also checked OW from brooklyn to CLE and that usually cost per mile and is $69 - but from "mexico" its $29.28 unlim mileage!

is that a question?

i dont know what a dump fee is but i made a reservation  and the only fees i got besides the base rate were:

"Total approximate price includes:
Airport concession fee recovery   3.63 USD
Vehicle license fee recovery       0.31 USD
TRANSPORTATION FACILITY FEE  2.55 USD
ENERGY SURCHARGE               1.03 USD
Taxes                                        3.04 USD

Not a question I just can't remember exactly what its called. If its not showing up for you then that's great. But I recently tried this and with some countries (I don't recall which - may have been egypt) there was this 300 dollar fee tacked on at the end.

I recently made a reservation for s/o with USAA HERTZ 77694 at a great rate  but he told me that they ID at the counter (PHL) and refused to let him rent at the rate (no, he wasn't underage, he used his AARP rate instead)
Has any one else been id?

Yup, twice. Once I had my USAA debit card and they accepted that. The second time I had them call the Hertz USAA line and confirm that I am a member.

usually never. but one time i was being added as a second driver and since im not really in military so im not covered by usaa insurance so i make sure they put me on the rental agreement as an official second driver (free of charge) - so this time the lady asked for my usaa number, so i told her i would have to go search it i my email for the USAA welcome letter with the number on it. so she just added me on, and while she did that i found my number just to confirm.

I can do $26 per day. Mazda3. Including insurance. Not including tax if applicable (I know it's applicable to you). So $30.16 if you are not a tourist

I have $26.50/day for 3 weeks plus vat (i'm using world mc also to get this rate) for a mazda3 and no charge for 2nd driver, using Avis. Anything better out there?
