Poconos, PA, Master Thread
« on: July 06, 2008, 12:47:07 PM »
Anyone have any tips on the poconos?  Wanted to get away for some quiet time with the wife for 2 days...
Is there any kosher food up there?
Has anyone stayed at the Ceasars?  Would like to use my spg points for a free stay any tips on which one?

Any tips on area attractions or anything else would really be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jack

I've been to poconos. this time of year you have camps including dora golding and others like camp Bonim . I think there are kosher food sections in stores in bushkill area not far from the crossings also if you go near scranton you have stores (price choppers) minyanim and bakery all year long

I was there many years ago, I dont remember which specific property but it was a Ceasers Resort. I was there during the winter season their was plenty to do snomobieling, skiing, tobogganing, snow tubing, ice skating, ect.....  As far as the summer season I have no idea what they have to offer

well i have been plenty of times a ceasers pocono resort, i have some coupons if you need, its great place, you park your car, they take you around all over the huge resort with thier car, they have a private lake with boats and its all for free in price, its relaxing no kids allowed, and they  have kosher food, the frozen style they warm it up for you ,if you go for food, dont bother, if the food is scondary, you will have great time and make the best out of it ...enjoy

there is a nearby shliach that has a contract with some of the pocono hotels to deliver pre-ordered kosher (freshly made) food.  would highly recommend!

We took two adjoining rooms. It is your basic mid-range hotel type. There was free breakfast-good for the cereal,fruit... and a pool that the kids got to use. It was very close to shuls, stores, etc. Try your luck at bidding on priceline, I don't recall how much we paid.

what's the general rule when bidding on priceline? can I select a 3* and still get stuck with a junky hotel? how can I figure out what bid will be accepted?
i wish i knew what i was doing...

There are definitely a FEW minyanim in the yeshiva area, as people live there year round.
