Amex MR to CO miles MUST have the same name?

I made (yet another) successful of Amex points and tried to transfer it to my CO account.
It couldn't go through because the name on both accounts is different...

Any advice?

 Didnt buy them but over the past yr a # of people owed me miles and they simply cashed them in and told MR they wanted to give them to their BIL (if a woman is calling her bro)

 but if it faied already to go thru dont know if they noted both accts and if theyd allow a 2nd try

AMEX points can go to anyone's account, something else must be wrong.

 most people I know who asked that the Pts go to someone else were told , we will allow it just this one time. cant tell ya how many times I was told that, but I believe the T&Cs dont allow a transfer to anyone but the members own accts


 but saying its going to a BIL or SIL MIL FIL usually attracts less attention. Now Id expect if  aperson wants to sell their pts to many people in a close dateline that they can run into some trouble, especially if its a pretty new opened acct

It's all done online at the AMEX or CO website.  Why would you need to talk to anyone?

 so have I but not OnLine. The Pt is either way if its Offically Not Allowed then at any time they can enforce it if they so chose, and stop allowing it to go thru

 Do I think that day is near, nope but if its their T&C Id rather let somone know they are doing a loophole rather then its AOK

I have done it online and had no problems. Once over the phone they said they would make an exception for me. A tip if you add that person as a cardholder you could transfer. But that's prob a last resort

It may work to your card, it will work to anyone's CO account either via the AMEX or CO site.
