I should note however that was with the regular 10000 point bonus. I t may be diifferent when they have the special promos.
usually when you refer a friend for SPG they get the regular offer 10k+15k but during the last 30k promo you were able to refer for that too.

Why don't you use the quote button?
When the person your quoting includes a quote in their post it doesn't include both.
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

So just nestle them using the quote tag.

Same difference. By manually re-setting the cursor each time you're ensuring they nestle properly.

Hate to bring this back on topic, but I did get 1 charge on my dusty freedom card before the statement closed.

Spent $7.97, got 19 UR points.  8 for the charge, 1 for the 10% bonus and 10 for the transaction.  Not bad at all!

Nicely done. Is there no bonus for using a dusty card? :P

Does paying EZpass get double points with Saphire P?

Does paying EZpass get double points with Saphire P?
I asked them via secure message. Their response.
Dear ,

I appreciate the opportunity to respond to your e-mail
regarding the recent inquiry on your Chase Sapphire
account.

When a merchant accepts VISA or MasterCard as a form of
payment, the merchant must select a category that will
identify the business type. This category is used when
determining if the transaction is eligible for rewards. If
a merchant is not a specialty store and provides a variety
of products, the merchant may choose a general category
descriptor rather than a specific category. For example, a
store that sells clothes, gas, automotive parts, and
groceries may choose the category ?Superstores? rather
than ?Groceries? or ?Gas.?

When a transaction is authorized to your account, rewards
are automatically determined based on the category that
has been designated by the merchant.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

Shamir Sayed

Do it and let us know.
If it's properly categorized as tolls it should work for 2.14

Dear,

I am writing in response to your follow-up message about
the rewards on the Chase Sapphire account.

I would like to inform that the charge for "New Jersey
E-Zpass" did qualify as a travel purchase. The charge was
for $55.00 for which you have received 110 points i.e.(2
points for per $1.00 spent on Travel).

I hope the above answers your concerns. If you have any
further questions, please reply using the Secure Message
Center.

Thank you,

Value/Worth are funny terms.  They're different for everyone.
I personally don't redeem CO miles under about 1.9 cpm and SPG under about 2.3, so I guess that's my own value.
That would make 1 SPG=1.21 CO

$20 would give 32x1.9=$0.608 on Freedom or 20x2.3=$0.46 on SPG.

The cutoff would thus be at $90 which would give 109x1.9=$2.071 on Freedom or 90x2.3=$2.07 on SPG.

I guess I should really be using Freedom way more often!

So
Freedom (with Chase Checking only)
-Purchases under $90 that are not dining/airfare/hotels.
-Purchases that won't take AMEX that are not dining/airfare/hotels.
-Purchases (up to $1,500/quarter) in a 5% rotating category after registering online!
(For 2011 these categories are:
Q1: Grocery Stores, Drugstores
Q2: Home Improvement, Lawn and Garden, Home Furnishings
Q3: Gas, Hotels, Airlines
Q4: Dining, Department Stores, Movies, Charity)

Sapphire Preferred:
-All dining, airfare (except Airtran), and hotels (except SPG, Hyatt, and select Marriott chains).
Be sure to check if those are included in the Freedom categories first though.
-FOREX transactions.

SPG (Consumer or business):
-Purchases over $90, spending at SPG, or items that may need to be disputed, returned, or warrantied, go on SPG.

-SPG Business:
-Purchases at Open Savings partners go on SPG Business (HP, Airtran, B&N, Microsoft, Office Max, Fedex, Hertz, Hyatt, Flowers.com, and select Marriott brands)

CO/UA:
-Car rentals outside Israel.

Any WMC besides CO/UA:
-Car rentals in Israel.

Make sense?

AsherO confirms that Ink Bold is now giving him 20% bonus points as a checking customer.

I still don't know if Ink Classic gives the 20% bonus or not.  If it does that card can be even a bigger game-changer.

More info here: http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/16580

Assuming this:
I personally don't redeem CO miles under about 1.9 cpm and SPG under about 2.3, so I guess that's my own value. That would make 1 SPG=1.21 CO

Ink Bold vs. SPG:
-Both cards will give a similar value per dollar spent.  Ink Bold will give 1.2 points per dollar spent at a value at 1.9 cents per points for 2.28 cents back per dollar spent.  SPG gives 2.3 cents per dollar spent.
-So it really boils down to personal preference.  Do you want 1 Starpoint per dollar spent (for SPG hotels or miles like LAN, AA, USAir, Emirates. where you typically get 1.25 miles per point when transferred in multiple of 20K etc) or 1.2 UR points per dollar spent (Hyatt hotels or miles like CO at a ).  Bear in mind that UR points are fully transferable and transfer instantly whereas Starpoints can be trickier to transfer and it can take time to transfer.
-SPG AMEX offers better return/warranty/dispute protections than Ink Bold.
-SPG AMEX Business has the advantage in Open Savings categories.
-SPG AMEX gives double points for spending in SPG hotels.

Frankly this is a toss-up based on personal preference.

Ink Bold vs. Freedom is a simpler comparison:
Any purchase under $100 will do better with Freedom.
Any purchase in a 5% category will do better with Freedom.
Any purchase over $100 not in a Freedom category will do better with Ink Bold.

Ink Bold vs. Sapphire Preferred is the same as Freedom vs. Sapphire Preferred as quoted above.

Really? With a personal account or a business account?  Does it have to be linked?
I guess it posts instantly - unlike the saphire that posts in jan/feb.

It does post instantly.
It apparently takes 3 statements for the checking bonuses to kick in though for Freedom or Ink, but from then the bonuses post together with the regular points on the statement.

"To participate in this program for checking customers, the primary cardmember must be the sole owner or a joint owner of an open Chase checking account. Customers who do not have an open Chase checking account will no longer earn the bonus points for Chase checking customers."
Seems like a consumer checking account will qualify?

Nice! So how do I link my account to my cc? Is there a way to do it online?
