200GB 7,200 RPM SATA Drive From Dell Small Business
Want to boost the speed of your laptop?
The very best (and most underrated) method is to upgrade to a 7,200 RPM hard drive!
The difference between a 4,200/5,400 RPM hard drive and a 7,200 RPM hard drive is simply astounding.
Windows will boot up significantly faster, and programs will open without a lag!
It delivers far more “bang for the buck” than a RAM or processor upgrade.
This hard drive also includes a free fall sensor so your data will be protected against drops.
This is a Dell-branded hard drive manufactured by Seagate and it features an incredible 16MB of cache.
It is an industry-standard 2.5″ SATA hard drive that will work in nearly all modern notebooks, but be sure to confirm that your laptop uses a SATA hard drive! (Ignore the fact that it says it is for the Dell Inspiron 1521-in fact this will work just fine in any modern Dell notebook) You may need to remove the bracket adapter from your notebook’s current hard drive and put it on your new hard drive to fit it into your computer.

Service between the US and Australia has long been expensive and dominated by the United and Qantas duopoly.
(To be fair Continental does serve Cairns, Australia via twice-weekly flights from Guam in case you want a tour of Micronesia. It’s actualy a Onepass bargain at just 60,000 miles and even allows for a free stopover along the way in Hawaii or Micronesia)
With the new agreement any US or Australian airline will be able to start service between the two countries.
Here are some basic predictions and information, without taking any merger activity into account:
-AA is unlikely to start new service because its bases are covered by partner OneWorld partner Qantas.
-Continental and Northwest will likely wait until they receive their 787’s in the next couple of years before entering the Australian market. Look for Continental to serve Houston-Sydney nonstop by the end of 2009.
-Delta will have the potential to serve Atlanta-Sydney with their 777-200LR aircarft which they will be receiving within the coming months.
-V Australia, a venture of Australia’s Virgin Blue will soon serve Los Angeles or S. Fransisco with their 777-300ER aircraft.
-No other US or Australian airlines have the aircraft to enter the market.
-The agreement locked out Singapore Airlines, which desperately wanted to enter the US-Australia market.
The only thing going against US-Australian expansion is the fact that it is primarily a tourist and not a business market. There is much more money to be made with Chinese and Indian expansion due to business travel. Nonetheless fares will definitely be dropping in the near-future as competition heats up.

Palm finally got it right with the Centro. Its been a huge success on Sprint (its even been released in 3 colors to date!) I’ve written about my affinity for it in the past, so I won’t bore you guys again.
It was just released for AT&T. The color choice (White with lime green buttons) is suspect and the EDGE internet won’t help things out, but then again nobody signs up with a GSM provider for fast data speeds…
You can get one today at the Palm Store. They’re even currently running a promotion for free shipping on all phones and accessories!
Update: Here is an offer for $125 when you open a Chase account. Some people are saying that the Continental offer and the $125 offer can be combined. YMMV (Your mileage may vary). Either way it must be done in a Chase branch.

Last week USeless Airways released the most ridiculous PR ever.
“As part of our continuing efforts to provide valuable benefits to our frequent flyers, US Airways is making a change to our Dividend Miles program…Beginning May 1, 2008, Dividend Miles will award the actual number of miles flown rather than a minimum number of miles flown for each segment. Also, members who redeem miles for award travel within 14-days of departure on usairways.com will be assessed a quick ticketing fee.”
I hate PR spin.
At any rate the quick ticketing isn’t a surprise, every other major airline charges that as well.
The surprise is the elimination of the 500-mile minimum.
How much savings can this possibly provide them?
Is it really worth angering your bread and butter Boston-LaGuardia shuttle flyers by giving them 180 miles instead of 500?
C’mon United, go after these shortsighted losers will ‘ya, you two would be just perfect together. Keep Continental my Continental!

Update: United filed a weak response this morning, a $150+ RT fare from S. Louis-Honolulu. It is only valid from 03/01-03/04. Apparently United can’t afford to match a fare valid to the end of their schedule…
Valid in either direction through the end of AA’s schedule!
This is a continuation of the AA-UA Hawaii hub spat from yesterday. If we’re lucky we may see United file another cheap Hawaii fare from one of AA’s hubs…stay tuned!
Flights are selling out very quickly for this fare…
AA has LAX to HNL for $144+. The only valid departure dates are are 02/29 and 03/01. The only valid return dates are 03/03 and 03/04. Use AA’s great “price and schedule” feature to find valid flights.
(For the record, Shabbos ends in Los Angeles at 6:27pm on 03/01 and AA has an 8:30pm departure. If anyone does this I’d love to hear about it!)
United has DFW to HNL for $144+. The only valid departure dates are are 02/29 and 03/01. The only valid return dates are 03/03 and 03/04.
The Garmin Nuvi’s are in my opinion the best GPS system out there today. They are always very highly ranked by the various rating agencies.
I personally tried out many GPS systems before settling on the Nuvi series, and have never looked back…
Some people have a misconception that GPS navigators require a subscription. This is not true. All standalone GPS units work out of the box without any subscriptions thanks to US government satellites. Your tax dollars at work.
Nuvi’s:
-Are all very compact and lightweight.
-Have an internal battery, allowing you to set it on pedestrian mode and get walking directions with it.
-Are much quicker to lock onto satellites than other GPS units.
-Are very intuitive and easy to use.
-Have excellent points of interest.
-When buying a GPS, make sure that it has text-to-speech, meaning that it will speak the actual street names that you will need to turn onto. This is a critical feature to look for when you’re buying a GPS unit!
-Bluetooth is a nice feature to have on your GPS unit. The Nuvi easily syncs with any bluetooth phone. It will automatically have your entire phone’s phonebook and voice-dialing capabilities. Any outgoing or incoming phone calls will be routed through the Nuvi’s speaker and microphone while you’re driving. The incoming caller’s information will be displayed on the Nuvi, and you will have the option of accepting or rejecting the phone call.
These are general guidelines, there may be exceptions:
Models ending in “50″ do not have bluetooth or traffic.
Models ending in “60″ have bluetooth and traffic. (Nuvi 260 is an exception and has neither, Nuvi 360 does not come with traffic)
Models ending in “70″ and the same as models ending in 60, but add maps for Europe.
Models ending in “80″ and the same as models ending in 60, but add MSN Direct.
200 Series: Ultra-compact (2.8 x 2.1), 3.5″ Touchscreen LCD, internal antenna. Beware of the Nuvi’s numbered from 200-250 as they lack text-to-speech!
300 Series: Ultra-compact (2.8 x 2.1), 3.5″ Touchscreen LCD, external antenna, plays MP3’s.
600 series: Compact (3.8 x 2.25), 4.3″ Touchscreen LCD, external antenna, plays MP3’s, FM Transmitter
700 series: Compact (3.8 x 2.25), 4.3″ Touchscreen LCD, internal antenna, plays MP3’s, FM Transmitter
New features in 700 series:
-The 700 series adds multi-destination planning, you enter in multiple destinations and the nuvi figures out the fastest overall route.
-The 700 series also adds “where’s my car” and “where am I”
“With a click, Drivers can display their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And to help drivers find their car in an unfamiliar spot or vast parking lot, all nüvi 700s automatically mark the position in which they were last removed from the mount.”
Here is a sampling of some of Amazon’s Nuvi’s on sale (Prices subject to change at anytime!):
Shoe seller Zappos.com quietly disposed of two customer-friendly policies over the weekend, their free overnight shipping and 110% price guarantee.
Endless.com is still offering their 110% price guarantee and negative $5 overnight shipping at the current time-but they won’t be for long! They have gotten rid of most references to negative $5 shipping, a sure sign that are planning to get rid of that great benefit very soon. Whether they will still offer free overnight shipping and their 110% price guarantee remains to be seen.
Being that Endless.com is owned by Amazon, which is quite possibly the most customer-friendly retailer in existence today, I am quite sure that they will maintain their generous 365 return-day policy with free return shipping and price drop protection.
But you might want to grab their negative $5 overnight shipping offer today-with 365 days to return the shoes for free if you don’t like ‘em you’ve got nothing to lose!
What does a company get when they claim that they will lower prices and really wind up drastically raising them!
Or when in the face of a growing non-paying bidder crisis they tell their sellers that they can still still leave feedback for buyers, as long as it’s positive feedback (sellers will soon no longer be able to leave neutral or negative feedback for buyers .)
A strike!
I’ve been an ebay seller since the very beginning-over a decade-and have watched the eroding morals of this once innovative company.
Back then it was a true community, buyers put implicit faith in the system. All items were paid for by check and sent out once payment cleared…
In my opinion it’s been all downhill since Ebay bought out Paypal.
Ebay revealed just how anti-competitive they are when they banned Google Checkout as a form of payment.
Not only did they ban it, they even pulled advertising from Google when Google tried protesting the ban with a (now expired) promotion to process credit cards for free.
It’s about time that Google (or someone else) make a compelling auction site to give Feebay a run for their money.
There’s more info on the strike running from 02/18-02/25 in the following Youtube video:
