Palm Cancels The Foleo Folly!

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Back in May Palm announced the launch of a laptop like device called the Folio.

At the time I wrote a highly critical preview of the device.

Yesterday Palm announced that they are cancelling the device, just as it as was due to ship out.

Kudos to them for realizing the folly of their ways, and here’s hoping to see some actual innovation from the once great company…

Megabus Expands To The West Coast…Drops Pittsburgh.

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

New Megabus Route Map Linky

Megabus, the bus company that has express routes without 27 stops as can be found on Greyhound, is expanding to the west coast with fares that start at just $1.

Their west coast hub is in Los Angeles.

Cheapest tickets can be found by booking midweek travel at least a few weeks in advance.

Sample Date: At the time of this posting all west coast cities to Los Angeles were available for $1 on Wednesday, 10/10.

New West Coast Cities Served:

-S. Fransisco

-S. Jose

-Oakland

-Los Angeles

-S. Diego

-Las Vegas

-Tempe, AZ

Meanwhile they are discontinuing service to Pittsburgh due to lack of local support effective 09/17.

(Pittsburghers-OK, because of your addiction to flying USAirways you lost Airtran when they tried to make a mini-hub in PIT back in 2001 and you may very well be losing Jetblue. But being the first city to lose Megabus due to a Greyhound addiction?)

Intra-California Flyers: Fasten Your Safety Belts-It’s Promo War Time!!!

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

It all started when Virgin America announced that they would fly LAX-SFO for $44.

Last week I posted Southwest’s 8 free credits/double miles promo celebrating their new flights from S. Francisco starting at $39.

Not to be outdone, United started a double miles promo for intra-california flights.

And AA wasn’t too far behind with their own double miles promo.

It all comes full-circle now, as Southwest has announced a promo for a free systemwide ticket if you fly 3 intra-california flights!
