Virgin America has just launched a $99+ fare sale for their transcontinental routes (such as JFK-LAX, etc.).
Seats are limited, but I was able to find $99 seats on many routes without the usual 7 or 14 day advance purchase requirements.
The total with tax is about $109 each way.

Virgin America’s tickets are fully refundable for 24 hours, if you did purchase tickets within the past 24 hours and the price for your flights fell, go ahead and cancel/rebook.
After 24 hours there is a $40 cancellation fee, it may or may not pay to cancel/rebuy, be sure to check the current prices for your flights and find out!
