Southwest Airlines flight 519 from New Orleans-Houston caught fire as it landed on Wednesday.  I find 2 things shocking from the incredible video that a helicopter caught of the incident.

1-The amount of time it took to begin evacuating the plane. Over 2 minutes to get the first people out?

2-The guy who throws down his briefcase before sliding down and then proceeds to gather all of his belongings that fell out of the briefcase at the bottom of the slide!

3:02: Slides are deployed. (you can see them inflating at the very left side)

The ad “I’ll Go” does a poor job as far as demonstrating how AA is better than anyone else, (you could insert any airline into the ad) but I liked it anyway!

How many times have you called a company twice and gotten 2 different answers?

It happens to me all the time.

If I get a CS rep that doesn’t know what they are talking about, I’ll just hang up and keep trying until I get someone more knowledgeable.

Why can’t companies spend the money to educate their CS agents???

At any rate, here is an excellent example of clueless CS reps just making stuff up at Verizon Wireless.

56 phone calls, 56 different answers.

Just 1 out of 56 reps gave the correct answer to both questions asked.

Am I surprised? Not in the slightest.

Bottom Line: Take anything a CS agent tells you with a huge grain of salt-because it’s probably wrong!

Google Maps now lets you choose your route and add destinations!

Check out this route from LGA to 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn.

Google maps by default takes you on the Grand Central West to the congested BQE.

Let’s say you want to go on the Jackie Robinson instead. Just put your mouse at the beginning of the route and a white square will show up saying “Drag to change route.” Drag the box to the right about an inch to force the route onto the Grand Central West. Google will now automatically reroute you over the Jackie Robinson.

You can right click on the Start/pause/end points to remove them. Additionally you can right click anywhere on the map to add a new destination, or to add an origin if you have removed all start/stop points.

Pretty cool, no?
