Dell Inspiron Mini 9: Slim Down With A “Netbook!”

Dell has joined the netbook party with the mini, an ultra-portable and economic notebook weighing under 2.3 pounds! It is powered by a netbook designed Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor. It comes in your choice of black or white and has a 8.9″ lcd screen and an sd card reader. An 802.11g mini built-in wi-fi card comes standard for this internet and word processing machine. The Mini uses a SSD, or solid state drive which uses flash memory as opposed to a hard drive. With no moving parts an SSD is much more stable than a traditional hard drive as well as much quieter. It has garnered many good reviews from the critics.
A webcam can be added for $15 and bluetooth can be added for $20.
A 1 year warranty in included-but don’t pay $79 for the 2 year warranty, just put it on a good credit card, like the Starwood AMEX, and the 2 year warranty will be provided for free by AMEX (which will actually be much better than through Dell)!

The Mini comes in 3 basic configurations:

1. Running a Linux/Ubuntu OS with 512 MB RAM and a 4GB SSD for $349

2. Running Windows XP OS with 512 MB RAM and an 8GB SSD for $399

3. Running Windows XP OS with 1GB RAM and a 16GB SSD for $449
