Update, 04/23: Free rides in Cleveland end at 3:59am on 04/24. Take a round-trip ride to the Indians game tonight for free without paying for parking and enjoy the delicious kosher hot dog stand at the game, now under Cleveland Kosher supervision.
Not in Cleveland? You can still get a $20 account credit that will never expire by signing up with my referral link here, though the $20 signup offer is said to be ending Friday.
Update, 04/09: Posting from the Jake, where I took the first of my 5 free Uber rides down to the Jake for the traditional doubleheader versus the Padres. The driver had a sweet SUV with cold bottled water and several newspapers from today as well! Expect the fare in Cleveland to be at the very bottom of the fare quote estimate.
Through 04/23 Uber is offering up to 5 free rides per person in Cleveland. Each ride can be up to $25, if it runs more than $25 than your credit card will be charged. No promo code is needed.
However when you signup here you’ll also get a $20 account credit, so if a ride runs $30 it will give $25 for free for the Cleveland promo and just take $5 of your account credit, making your ride free! You would be able to get a ride up to $45 for free with the $25 Cleveland promo+$20 new account credit.
uber offers luxury car service via UberBLACK and affordable rides in clean cars at rates lower than taxis via uberX.
Just download their smartphone app and hail a car on demand. You don’t enter a destination, you just tell the driver where you want to go when he arrives.
I looked up sample quotes (In NYC the rate was typically at the very bottom end of the range for me) using the app from world famous Jerusalem Grill using uberX to:
-Bottlehouse Brewery: $8-$10 (Did you know you can bring your own food here while drinking their awesome beer made on premises? Stop off at Kinneret on the way and have uber be your designated driver home!)
-Art Museum/Natural History Museum/Children’s Museum: $14-$18
-Thistledown Racino: $14-$18
-Progressive Field: $21-$27 (See the Tribe without being gouged for gameday parking!)
-Rock and Roll Hall of Fame/Great Lakes Science Museum: $21-$27
-Horseshoe Casino: $21-$27
-Cleveland Aquarium: $22-$29
-Great Lakes Brewery/West Side Market: $23-$30
-Hard Rock Rocksino: $26-$35
-Cleveland Hopkins Airport: $35-$47 (I.E. free with a new uber account!)
